About this listing
Stay at the Nash. Located in New Haven's East Rock neighborhood, the Nash is right around the corner from well-reviewed restaurants along New Haven's State Street. We're a 15 minute walk to Yale, and only 25 minutes to all the restaurants downtown.
The Nash is a quaint home in the Goatville ((website hidden)) section of the East Rock Neighborhood of New Haven. The rooms are small, and except for the added on room (the Rio), the floors are wood. Currently there is no cable and only one shared bathroom (we have plans to put a 1/2 bath in the front).
The patron of house works as a massage therapist, a service we provide guest for at the rate of $40 an hour.
Guests have their own room and share common kitchen, bath, dining and living area- although sometimes this is needed for in-home massages.
There is a washer & dryer on premise, but for safety and security, the host would do any laundry if you would like something washed here. There is also a local laundromat about a two blocks away. Additionally we will do pick-up and return dry cleaning for any guests who would like with New Haven's best cleaners. You would only have to call in a card number to them, and we would do the rest.
Interaction with Guests
Interaction with guests varies. My work and personal life varies in intensity and demands so there are times when I'm more available than others. Also, of course, the guests needs and desires come first many need a quiet place and time without much social interaction in between what they came to New Haven for, others like to spend more time talking over coffee, or even going out and seeing part of New Haven together. At the Nash, we want each guest to get the most out of their visit in New Haven, be it reflective time to read and study, and so on or time to engage with the host, or local scenes and activities.
The East Rock Neighborhood is known affectionately as the Grad Ghetto because of the large number of graduate students, phd candidates and other academics. The neighborhood is very diverse with many families living here as well. The Nash is two doors down from a quaint park available to BBQ in season.
We're one or two blocks away from either nearby bus routes, and we're walking distance to most sights in town. We're close to free Yale Shuttle stops, and not far from a variety of great restaurants, pubs, shops, museums, theatres, the beautiful East Rock Park and of course Yale itself.
Seth has also provided rides for people in need with transportation difficulties. People wanting bike rentals are referred to our friend, found on(website hidden) Goatville Cyclesmith, Joel LaChance.
Seth is a great host to stay with, it's clear he has a lot of experience with airbnb. The room was comfortably cozy and included all the necessary amenities. If you're looking for an easy, affordable place to stay, Seth's residence at the Nash is an excellent choice. Yale was only a 15 minute walk away and there's shuttle service nearby if needed. Overall great stay!
You get what you pay for. Seth is willing to help you out with directions or recommendations or do your laundry (thanks!).
Seth was responsive and flexible in arranging our initial meeting. It is a humble home but clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is OK, parking was not difficult and it is fairly close to downtown. The room was cozy - small but comfortable and the bed was good. No breakfast, but there is a little breakfast restaurant a block away. All in all, a good budget option for a visit to New Haven if you are OK with a basic room and shared bath.
Super friendly host. Cute room, very comfortable with air conditioning!! Easy access to stores and restaurants and walking distance to Evans Hall for Yale folks

About the Host, Seth
I am the proud owner of The Nash at Yale Bed & Breakfast, located in New Haven's Goatville section of the East Rock Neighborhood. I live in the home and with the help of a floating crew of friends personally handle all aspects of the operations. The Nash at Yale is a true, owner-operated B & B. We are both passionate about providing the best possible experience we can for our guests. We appreciate thoughtful management and friendly service whenever we travel and we know how important it is to you. To any allergic to cats: apologies; we have taken on a rescue cat, Kiki as resident feline.
I've enjoyed France- Paris & Avignon, Costa Rica- San Hose, and the Pacific coast. Quebec & Montreal, St. Martinique, and various places in the states... I would love to go to Katamah Beach Resort in Treasure Beach of Jamaica, Japan, all over the Mediterranean, actually there are few place I wouldn't be interested in going to at this point...
I love live music, and supporting my local bands, but the list of music I love is endless and diverse, moreover I love when a new or old friend introduces me to something I haven't yet heard, then, even when they're not around, when I hear that music, I think of them.
My taste in food is similar to that of my love for the varied in art & music- while I have my favorite local restaurants, I love getting creative in the kitchen or learning someone else's ways in the kitchen. Like dining, cooking is often best as a shared experience.
