About This Listing
We both love our house and are very comfortable in it. We have a big fenced-in back yard that becomes an extension of our house when the weather is nice. We love to eat breakfast and dinners outside at the picnic table or on the gazebo whenever possible. We spend quite a bit of time tending to the garden and doing various "home owner" projects outside.
The neighbors are all very nice and welcoming. We all seem to take a lot of pride in our property and making it feel like home.
Guests will have full access to all areas of the house except for our bedroom. There is a pottery studio and sales shop on the property. Laura offers private wheel throwing lessons for $80/hour. Guests cannot access pottery studio otherwise.
We like to welcome the guest into the home and make them feel comfortable. We like our social time, but definitely like to have our alone time too. We might join you for a drink on the gazebo or retreat to our room to read or watch a movie.
Northgate Park's street are lined with beautiful tall oak trees. We have friendly neighbors who have chickens. The neighborhood is lush with vegetable gardens, including hops!

Duke East and West Campus is 2.5 to 3 miles away. It is a 45min-60 min walk. Walk the greenways, the Elerbee Creek Trail into town. It is a 45 minute walk from our house.

We had a lovely time at Laura and tim's. This was the perfect way to find an apartment in Durham without spending a ton on a hotel. The room was great, the sheets were lovely, and the added bonus of a friendly cat was delightful.
Wow! what a great experience.
Tim and Laura are fantastic hosts, and their place is great.
My weekend in Durham and staying with them was fantastic. I was there to attend a soul/jazz music festival wiht some great groups (and eat delicious bbq)-- staying with them enhanced the visit greatly. Durham is a cool town having a renaissance of sorts. Very nice people that I met. It was an impromptu visit from Canada (and in part a birthday gift to be able to go to the festival).
I arrived on a sunny afternoon, intending to head straight out to the festival. But once I started chatting and relaxing in their nice backyard gazebo, I was very happy to relax for an hour before heading out, take in some sun.
The place is well located. Walkable to downtown, although I was very happy taking an Über (just over $5 to get dt) almost all the trips since it was a short visit. On a very nice block, and the neighbours that I met were so nice. the room is cozy too - even though it is close to the living room and hallway, I felt like I had my own room and space.
Tim and Laura are very nice, easy to communicate and interact with and very cool. They are both artistically oriented, smart people. Our interests indeed overlapped in music, culture and food, and also joie de vivre. I find them reliable and easygoing.
They even gave me a birthday decoration surprise! and Laura's pottery studio on site is great- Wish I had time to make something while visiting.
Was very happy to stay with them.
Last. But absolutely not least. Fuzzers. The top cat in North Carolina.
The American cousin of the Canadian cats at my family home, who looks just like both of them. Fuzzers is an easy cat, outside regularly, so a clean cat, and wouldn't disturb even if not a cat person. And with a great personality!
Anywho, thanks Tim and Laura =) Stay with them!
What a great experience! It was easy to communicate with Laura and Tim in advance, and upon my arrival they were gracious hosts. Fuzzer the cat was a delightful co-host, as well. I felt very welcome and comfortable during my stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
Friendly, super hosts. Comfy room, nice touches provided for guests' comfort. Great location convenient to Duke, downtown, and I-85. Highly recommended.
STAY WITH LAURA AND TIM!!! honestly, i felt like i was staying with family. besides the fact that the room and their entire home is amazing and incredibly comfortable, not to mention extremely cute, Laura and Tim are hands down the most generous and hospitable hosts I've ever stayed with on Airbnb. I really appreciate their overall kindness and willingness to give me tips, include me, make me feel as 'at home' as possible, etc. Trust me! Don't miss this chance to meet the best of folks in NC! also, their cat is adorable and will cuddle if you let her :)
I had a lovely stay with Laura and Tim and their beautiful sweet cat Fuzzers. Laura was easy to communicate with and I'm glad they were around to save me from no heat/power during an outage at my place. Cozy clean home with comfy bed and friendly folks.
