Perched on an ancient sea stack above the Oregon coast, Wild Coast Lookout offers a rare blend of privacy, dramatic views, and easy access to the beach. Soak in the hot tub while watching the sunset or under a sky full of stars, listening to the surf below. You can also wander the lower garden's brick path, finding a peaceful spot to unwind and enjoy the feeling of your own coastal retreat.

The space
Wild Coast Lookout sits perched on the shoulder of an ancient sea stack, offering exceptional privacy and sweeping views of the Oregon coast. From this dramatic vantage point, hawks and owls are often seen gliding through the trees that surround the property. In the evening, soak in the hot tub while listening to the rhythmic sound of ocean waves, and on clear nights the dark coastal skies reveal a spectacular canopy of stars overhead.

The Lookout is just a few minutes' walk from Turtle Rock Beach and a quick drive to some of the Pacific Northwest’s most spectacular beachcombing shores. Despite its secluded feel, the home is conveniently located just five minutes from the town of Gold Beach, where you’ll find great restaurants, groceries, and other services.

The forested hillside provides a quiet and peaceful setting. The nearest neighbor is a small cottage you pass near the end of the driveway, but great care has been taken to ensure privacy throughout the property. From the deck and lawn, the land opens westward to dramatic coastal views. Wildlife is a regular part of the experience here—deer, raccoons, hawks, owls, quail, and hummingbirds are frequently seen on the property. On most nights you’ll fall asleep to the sound of the surf and a chorus of frogs rising from the estuary and pastures below.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive access to all areas of the 1-acre property, including a large private hot tub with ocean view, outdoor shower, sun deck, gas firepit with chairs, lawn and terraced garden.

Inside, they have total access to all spaces with the exception of a storage closet where the hosts keep cleaning supplies.

No direct access to the beach (beach is a 5-10 minute walk down

Other things to note
While most guests love the Lookout’s secluded and dramatic setting, it may not be suitable for families with young children (approximately ages 2–8). Access to the sleeping loft is via ladder-style steps, and there are steep, unfenced downhill slopes on three sides of the property.

Upon booking a 7% City of Gold Beach Occupancy Tax will be added to the total nightly rate.

Neighborhood highlights

Wild Coast Lookout is located on a slope above Turtle Rock Beach, just a couple miles south of downtown Gold Beach. The few homes on the hill are mostly far apart and separated by forest. The nearest neighbor is a small cottage next door, but they cannot see the Lookout's hot tub, sun deck or lawn. To the west is a dramatic view of the coast. Several species of wildlife are frequently sighted on the property, including deer, racoons, hawks, owls, quail, frogs and hummingbirds. On most nights you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of ocean waves and frogs singing in the estuary and pastures below.
