In a quiet part of the city centre of Amsterdam (border of de Jordaan & Oud West). 53m2 with a great view: Canals and the Westertoren (church next to the Anne Frank house).
Best suited for one (or two) couple(s) because of two double beds. Only one double bed can be turned into two single beds.
The apartment is redeveloped in 2010, so the kitchen, bathroom and toilets are in very good condition and comfortable. It is very light because the walls are clean white and there are three big windows in the living room.
In the canal in front of the house is our boat. You can come on a boat ride with me if you like when the weather is nice (above 20). And there are two bikes you can use.
- great view
- close to everything
- a desk for teleworking: Apple screen you can hook up to your MacBook
- fully equipped kitchen including Rocket Cellini Classic espresso machine
- steep stairs, the real Amsterdam experience and good for workout and balance training. :-)
- steep stairs (think ladder)
- during the day there are trams passing by
- you might want to move here after your stay
Well, I don't really like rules. But I guess you need them sometimes.
Enjoy your stay very much. If there is anything that I can help you with, you have to let me know. Let me make sure you have a wonderful time.
- Smoke outside (only if you want to smoke :-);
- Try to give the neighbours as a relaxing time as they give you;
- Leave the apartment in the state you found it. If you think it is clean, leave it as clean as it was. If you think it was dirty, leave it as dirty as it was (not cleaner, not more dirty).
- Double lock the bicycles. It is very safe, but bicycles are not really seen as property over here, so they will be gone if you don't.
We just completed a three city tour of Europe: London, Amsterdam and Vienna. And, by far, our most relaxed and fun time was during our stay at Peter's apartment in Amsterdam.
This cozy apartment was just as advertised in its description. It's in a great location! Being in a more residential part of town, we found it to be quieter and friendlier than staying in the main tourist zone in central Amsterdam. With the morning sun streaming in and that wonderful view of the Westerkerk, it was hard to get out and see the sights, when all we wanted to do was drink coffee and watch the boat traffic in the canal.
We took advantage of the two bikes that came with the apartment, plus rented a third from Bike City on the Bloemgracht. Riding bikes got us involved in the special bike culture that exists in Amsterdam. They proved to be an aid into experiencing the culture on a deeper level.
When we come back to Amsterdam, we'd be happy to get the chance to stay here again.
We had the most amazing time in Amsterdam! We staying in Peter's place for a whole month and loved every minute it of it. The location couldn't be better. Halfway between the train station and the Rijksmuseum/ Van Gogh Museum but in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. Easy transit options if we didn't want to walk and lots of good food options close by. Peter was the PERFECT host! He's so nice and even provided us with some groceries and stuff so we could easily feel at home in our jet lagged state. He also gave us a list and a map with his personal recommendations and he quickly answered any questions I contacted him with throughout the visit.
The only downside to the place is that the stairs are REALLY steep. It's almost like a ladder. The photos don't do it justice. Haha. But we quickly got used to them.
The apartment is very conveniently located close to the central areas of Amsterdam. Peter is a fabulous host who made us feel very welcome and left wine and food for us on arrival. Amenities within the apartment are of a very high standard and we particularly enjoyed the use of the coffee machine, various kitchen appliances, good washing machine and the two bicycles.
We felt as if the place were our own for the 10 days that we were there and particularly appreciated Peter's relaxed and accepting approach to everything. I would highly recommend this apartment to others wishing to spend some time in Amsterdam.
Staying at Peters place is a pleasure. He is friendly and generous.
The apartment is sparse and light with a great stereo and has a typically Amsterdam-ish view over canals with a church in the background.
I have stayed there twice and will again when I return to Amsterdam.
I would recommend staying here to anyone except if you are a very light sleeper, as the bedroom is on the front of the house. I didn't find it a bother though.
Peter was the perfect Host. Very quick to reply to any questions. We missed our train and arrived several hours late, but Peter said it was no problem and was very friendly when we arrived.
The flat was spotless, including the white bed linen- the bed was very comfortable! The flat is very light and sunny. Perfect for a couple- we spent many afternoons watching the boats in the canal from Peters window. As mentioned the stairs are very steep, but no problem for us- especially as Peter carried my bag up! No TV, but good wireless connection. A bigger and better bathroom than expected! Would stay again, thanks Peter, all the best.
This was a wonderful bright, airy, modern apartment, with lovely views of the canal, good internet, great host including leaving out wine and snacks for my arrival.
