A charming little penthouse with a spacious terrace offering open views of the Messinian Bay, Mount Taygetos, and the city rising from the shore to the north. The terrace is truly one of a kind in Kalamata.

Right on the sea promenade, where in summer the heart of the city beats day and night, while for the rest of the year you can enjoy a calm and poetic sense of peace.

Much of the furniture was custom-made from natural materials, and the mattresses and part of the linen are of organic quality.

The space
This nicely renovated penthouse has one of the finest terraces in Kalamata, offering wide, uninterrupted views — the Messinian Bay to the south, Mount Taygetos to the east, and the city stretching west and north.

The apartment itself is compact (31 m²), but its private terrace is spacious (100 m²), giving you room to follow every mood of the day.

Great care has been given to custom-made furniture designed for comfort.

The main room includes a small kitchen with a table and, behind a decorative partition, the main bed (140 cm) from which you can enjoy open views of the sea and the mountains.

There is also a second, snug bedroom with a single bed (90 cm), its own door, and a cupboard for your clothes. From the pillow here, you see Mount Taygetos.

Between the two rooms lies a short corridor and a small but modern bathroom with shower and hairdryer.

The heart of this penthouse is its large terrace. There is space for everything: an outdoor shower, a corner for cooking under the shade of the pergola, and deck chairs for resting under the stars.

Whenever possible, the furniture, linen, and towels are of organic quality (Cocomat and Demko Feder) — as are the small edible treats you’ll find in the apartment.

Guest access
The entrance to the building is on its east side, along the street that runs perpendicular to the sea promenade. You reach the apartment by elevator to the fifth floor and then one short flight of stairs to the roof. Unfortunately, it is not wheelchair accessible.

Other things to note
The penthouse is on the roof of a five-story building right on Kalamata’s sea promenade. The building itself is old and looks its age, but don’t let that put you off — once you step inside, it’s a different world.

The nearest beach is just across the street, with newly planted trees offering a bit of shade.

A washing machine is available, along with detergent and everything you might need for one or two loads of laundry during your stay.

In summer, a pleasant breeze usually flows through the apartment, so air-conditioning is rarely needed. Please remember to switch it off when windows are open or when you leave the apartment.

We care about the environment, so most items in the apartment are ecological or organic.

There is a first-aid kit in the apartment, with the main supplies usually expected and some homeopathic basics too. For anything more serious, we are here to assist further.

Please respect the quiet hours — 15:00 – 17:30 and 22:00 – 07:30 — as the downstairs neighbour (a doctor, by the way) needs to rest. Avoid moving furniture during these times.

Parking can be difficult in summer. A larger public parking area is located two blocks north and usually has space, even in high season.

During summer months, some city and beach noise is to be expected. Children’s voices from the beach can be heard clearly, though not loudly, up to the terrace.

Upon arrival, you’ll receive my phone numbers. You can reach me any time of day; just keep late-night or siesta-time calls (00:00–07:00 and 15:00–17:00) for urgent matters. You’ll also get the Wi-Fi password.

Please note that the apartment is non-smoking. Smoking is only allowed outside on the terrace, where ashtrays are provided.

By law, we’re not allowed to offer cleaning services during your stay.

For hygienic reasons, bath towels should not leave the apartment. Beach towels are provided for outdoor use, so you can pack a bit lighter for your trip.

On the terrace, there’s a cupboard with items for outdoor use (and some cleaning supplies). Please return things there when not in use — winds can get quite strong up here.

Finally, please let us know your check-out time as early as possible, to help us plan ahead.

We appreciate any comment you can provide us with in order to improve our services.

Neighborhood highlights

The apartment is on the sea promenade of Kalamata.
This promenade is full of shops, cafes and restaurants many of which are only open during the summer months.

The main commercial and economic center of the city is about 2km away. It can be reached on foot and even better by bike.
A bus stop is 20m down the road.

In the summer months, there is a 24h kiosk about 200m further.

Catering possibilities at every corner.

And ATTENTION: a certain level of city - noise is to be expected.

In the summer months finding a parking lot can be a bit difficult in this neighborhood. You might need to park two blocks away then.

Hi, I'm Nico I'm Swiss - Greek in my 50s. I lived half of my life in Switzerland and almost half my life in Greece, and a small (but very impressive) part on Malta. Since 2017 I'm back in Greece, where I live with my girlfriend and her daughter in the city of Kalamata. I love to dance Tango Argentino, ride my bike, sail, fly a plane, dive, listen to music, read, do nothing, talk, and many other things...I find life quite interesting. I was introduced to Airbnb by my three children who all of them are Airbnb travelers. So I started as a traveler too. Now since 2017, I'm also a host, and I like this part a lot. The idea I'm following for my own listings is to offer such which are on the 'Top', metaphorically speaking (quality for price) but also in the real sense of the word: on the TOP of the building they are. In the meantime I have two of them, the second one opened in Sommer 2018. I also co-host for friends of mine. I'm a non-smoker. And I'm also ecological, meaning I do try to take care of the environment as far as I can. So most of the things you'll find in my apartments are ecological or organic in one way or the other. I would be glad to meet and host you if you ever come to Kalamata cheers :)
