The cobbled streets are narrow and winding and random but losing your way will lead you to places you might not otherwise find. Note that the cobblestone (locally called sampietrini) streets have been paved elsewhere in Rome as the vibrations from cars driving over them have been found to lead to cracking in the foundations of many of the monuments and historic sites around the city (and are also dangerous to drivers). The sampietrini are mostly being left alone in Trastevere though.
Trastevere is the 13th rione of Rome, on the west bank of the Tiber, south of Vatican City. Its name comes from the Latin trans Tiberim, meaning literally "beyond the Tiber". The correct pronunciation is [trasˈteːvere], with the accent on the second syllable. Its logo is a golden head of a lion on a red background, the meaning of which is uncertain. To the north, Trastevere borders on to the XIV rione, Borgo.
Nowadays, Trastevere maintains its character thanks to its narrow cobbled streets lined by medieval houses. At night, natives and tourists alike flock to its many pubs and restaurants, but much of the original character of Trastevere remains. The area is also home to several foreign academic institutions including The American University of Rome and John Cabot University (both of which are private American universities), the American Academy in Rome, the Rome campus of the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts, the Canadian University of Waterloo School of Architecture (between the months of September and December), and the American Pratt Institute School of Architecture therefore serving as home to an international student body.

Marcella was an excellent host who takes care of her guests; she gave us helpful tips for restaurants and places worth seeing. Apartment was clean and comfortable, well located, 15 min walk to Vatican, near Tiber, many great restaurants around. Kitchen was good equipped. The street was a little bit noisy, not too much, but you can expect that in Trastevere witch is known for its nightlife. Rome is beautiful city absolutely worth visiting and I can recommend this apartment for such a trip.
Thanks for Everything,
This Roman abode is a small door in a cobbled street that opens up into a sanctuary. The flat is lovely with high dark wooden ceilings and considered furnishings. It is the perfect balance between characterful and thoughtfully practical. There was everything we needed and nothing we didn't. We had the pleasure of visiting in the winter and found the heating effective and the hot water reliable. The wifi worked a treat as well. Marcella is an incredibly organised host who has obviously travelled a great deal herself and her experience helps her to help you. Our email correspondence was always swift and yielded positive planning and when we arrived in Rome everything we had discussed via email fell into place. The connect up was smooth as was our departure. Lastly, the location is fairly perfect for pedestrian adventures. The streets around the apartment offer extensive eating and drinking options: beer, wine, restaurant big-eats, takeaway small-eats, coffee and pastries - there are many choices near by and as dinner time descends there is a great buzz in the area. Then walking up to the river you are a stones throw away from so many of the sites of Rome. Location, organisation, charm and consideration make this a wonderful place to hang your hat in Rome.
I had a very enjoyable stay in Marcella's apartment. The location is fantastic, in the heart of Trastevere with good restaurants and bars just outside the door. The apartment is cosy and as described. Marcella communicated with me through all my stay and assisted us for the check-in.
We had a lovely stay in Marcella's apartment. It was plenty spacious for the two of us and had everything we needed. We were met by a friend of Marcella's who showed us where everything was and how things worked. Marcella had left us some useful information about the neighbourhood, including restaurants. We made use of the kitchen for our breakfasts, and we would've been able to have dinner in also if we had felt the need however there are many great eateries around the neighbourhood - many within a few steps from the front door!
The boiler for the shower was a little patchy, however there was a great electric heater in the main room!
Overall our stay was great in Rome, and we very much enjoyed the fabulous location of Marcella's apartment!

I'm a lady, I had the pleasure and the opportunity to visit many countries in the world, from Japan to the United States, Australia, Argentina etc. etc. Rome is my city. I am pleased to offer you some accomodations, for me it's important the cleanliness, location, and above all else give all possible assistance to my hosts to feel at ease, and can enjoy a good holiday. I can offer accommodations in other parts of the world, many opportunities on the island of Corfu, I love Greece. All this is also part of my job because I deal with the real estate for a long time. I can not meet all my guests as I would like, sometimes I'm not present just because I'm on the go. But I'm very interested in the exchange of messages and phone calls, e-mails, I'm always ready with suggestions and informations. So apart from the night and when I'm on a plane, it is very very easy to contact me!
While seeing the same world, we see it through different eyes.
