The cobbled streets are narrow and winding and random but losing your way will lead you to places you might not otherwise find. Note that the cobblestone (locally called sampietrini) streets have been paved elsewhere in Rome as the vibrations from cars driving over them have been found to lead to cracking in the foundations of many of the monuments and historic sites around the city (and are also dangerous to drivers). The sampietrini are mostly being left alone in Trastevere though.
Trastevere is the 13th rione of Rome, on the west bank of the Tiber, south of Vatican City. Its name comes from the Latin trans Tiberim, meaning literally "beyond the Tiber". The correct pronunciation is [trasˈteːvere], with the accent on the second syllable. Its logo is a golden head of a lion on a red background, the meaning of which is uncertain. To the north, Trastevere borders on to the XIV rione, Borgo.
Nowadays, Trastevere maintains its character thanks to its narrow cobbled streets lined by medieval houses. At night, natives and tourists alike flock to its many pubs and restaurants, but much of the original character of Trastevere remains. The area is also home to several foreign academic institutions including The American University of Rome and John Cabot University (both of which are private American universities), the American Academy in Rome, the Rome campus of the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts, the Canadian University of Waterloo School of Architecture (between the months of September and December), and the American Pratt Institute School of Architecture therefore serving as home to an international student body.

The flat was clean and the host, Eleonora described everything very well. The flat is in Trastevere, a very lively and busy area in the night, which me and my sister loved, but my mum was a bit annoyed by the noise. We visited Rome in August so the weather in Rome was very hot, so in the flat, however the air conditioner helped.
Thank you for the hospitality and great recommendations!
The studio apartment is perfectly located in the heart of Trastevere, a lovely little area in Rome. There are loads of bars/cafes and restaurants to choose from and it is vibrant enough in the evening to create a good atmosphere but not as touristy as the area across the river. The apartment is a good base for a long weekend, and as we didn't spend a huge amount of time there we didn't find that we needed anything else. The bed is a good size and the air conditioning unit was a life saver as it was 38 degrees Celsius one day. Marcella gave me lots of good tips and recommendations prior to our trip which came in really useful. We can't wait to visit Rome again and would definitely stay in Trastevere again!
Amazing location & apartment to explore Rome from.
The street is lively, with a huge number of restaurants & shops at your doorstep.
Marcella went above & beyond to help us during our stay. The apartment is clean, comfortable & spacious.
We had a fantastic time, & although on a busy street, we didn't find it that noisy at night. Couldn't recommend more as a place to explore Rome from.
Excellent apartment, really good location and a great price! Beds were comfy, apartment was clean and well equipped -except a broken washing machine. Although never meeting Marcella, she was quick at replying, and her housekeeper Elanora was lovely.
Marcella left food upon arrival, which was just another plus! Would definitely recommend staying here, if you're looking for a well priced apartment in Rome! Thank you Marcella!
Excellent communication with the host. Marcella was always so prompt and helpful whenever we had any questions, even offering us extra towels when we had a question about the Internet. The check in process was very smooth - Marcella's friend was at the studio waiting for us.
The studio is in a great location if you want to experience the night life and restaurant culture of this old area of Rome. It is surrounded by bars and restaurants. You can also easily walk to the Vatican/Colosseum and most other attractions.
The accommodation itself is no-frills and suits a young couple on a budget looking for somewhere to stay in Trastevere. During our stay it was very hot in Rome and the studio was hot also, although there is a portable air conditioning unit that does cool the place down but takes a while to be effective. It was handy to be able to do some clothes washing while we were there and it was a nice touch to be left some biscuits and sweets.

About the Host, Marcella
I'm a lady, I had the pleasure and the opportunity to visit many countries in the world, from Japan to the United States, Australia, Argentina etc. etc. Rome is my city. I am pleased to offer you some accomodations, for me it's important the cleanliness, location, and above all else give all possible assistance to my hosts to feel at ease, and can enjoy a good holiday. I can offer accommodations in other parts of the world, many opportunities on the island of Corfu, I love Greece. All this is also part of my job because I deal with the real estate for a long time. I can not meet all my guests as I would like, sometimes I'm not present just because I'm on the go. But I'm very interested in the exchange of messages and phone calls, e-mails, I'm always ready with suggestions and informations. So apart from the night and when I'm on a plane, it is very very easy to contact me!
While seeing the same world, we see it through different eyes.
