About this listing
Waterfront unit with private bath in a quiet waterfront home in Hawaii kai Marina.
Nearby within 1/4 mile we have the 1st shopping center with 24/7 Safeway food store, Longs Drugs and various local style restaurants to choose from.
The bus stop is at the end of the street within 3 minutes walk.
The unit is away from the noise of Waikiki yet only 15 minutes drive away when you want to join the fun waikiki can offer.
Maggie is great. She works hard to make sure her home and rooms are clean and comfortable. My wife and I first stayed in one of Maggie's budget rooms, then in her large room facing the marina when it opened up. All her rooms are equipped with a fridge, microwave, TV and other amenities that make your stay enjoyable and convenient. Lots of clean towels in the baths. Her location in Hawaii Kai is hard to beat, close to Hanauma Bay and Sandy's, with lot's of shopping and dining in the area. My wife and I are kama'aina expats, and staying with Maggie is like coming home. Mahalo Maggie!
The room was perfect for my needs. On the waterway, view of boats and water, quiet enough, friendly dogs, big and comfortable bed. Left windows open entire time to experience the lovely tradewinds. Hostess was nice. Very close to Hawaii Kai Retirement community. if my parents go back, I will stay with Maggie again!
Maggie is a truly warm & dedicated host. The property is right on the water in the Marina, is clean, well-equipped, & spacious. Highly recommended!
This was my first experience using airbnb and Maggie made it a great one! Our room and private bath were very clean and it felt like we were staying with family or a close friend. The neighborhood is very quiet and the waterfront view is beautiful. I especially enjoyed her 2 friendly dogs. My next visit to Hawai'i will definitely be with Maggie again.
had a wonderful time at this house. being on the water was wonderful as were her 2 friendly dogs.
With Maggie's years on the Island, we found her very informative in ways we hadn't imagined and helpful in finding our way around.
We had full use of the kitchen which $aved u$ and allowed us to eat "our" food.
Our room was big, full of windows and sliding doors which we left open the whole time to experience the cool breezes. There was a very nice patio off our room with a Bar-B-Q and a large table that we shared sometimes chatting with other guests.
Maggie's B & B is in a semi-private area where everyone has their boats off the back yard, yet only 8 miles from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.
Oreo and Koa (her dogs) are very friendly and well mannered.
Should we retune to Oahu, we definitely will book with Maggie.
I should preface this by saying that we arrived Xmas day and Maggie graciously allowed us to check in in the morning even though her normal check in time is later, which we really appreciated.
Great neighbourhood, very easy to find the house, plenty of street parking out front. About 20 min drive to Waikiki, excellent access to HWY. Nevertheless it was extremely quiet at night, which was lovely.
The room itself is fantastic. Huge, with lots of storage space and place to sit down. Clean. Well-appointed with everything you need. In fact, Maggie provides almost every single toiletry item you could need. I think the only thing we didn't see was shaving cream. She even provides sunscreen. So you could go there with just your toothbrush and be fine. The bed was a bit soft for my liking, but I slept fine, it's got great linens. In fact, she provides more good-quality linens and towels than 2 people could possibly use.
Maggie herself is a super nice woman, interesting to talk to and very honest. While we were there, she was also hosting her brother and his wife and they were also very friendly. There were two other guest rooms - both occupied, but we didn't get to know the other guests. Her dogs are super sweet and friendly - loved having them around.
The bathroom is huge, clean and lovely, albeit with a really small shower. We were OK with it, but we are slim. Shaving my legs was a bit challenging (not much room to put my leg up or bend over).
I only have a couple of slightly negative comments - and both surely only applies to this specific room. The room adjoins the awesome lanai (where we ate our breakfast at a really comfortable dining table). You get to it by going through the kitchen and out the back patio door. However, this is also where Maggie and her guests (i.e., friends and family) take their dinners. Of course, it was Xmas time, so maybe there were more visitors than usual. But we felt a bit awkward, coming back after a day running around, all dirty, and in a way crashing their dinner party. It was especially awkward when we had to shower before dinner because you have to cross that lanai to get to the washroom.
The second comment is about the state of the vegetation in the backyard (which is otherwise lovely). To lock the patio door to our room, you have to walk around the back of the house or on the side, and the vegetation could use trimming. At night you can't see a thing.
All in all, we found this to be a GREAT place to stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
