Villa Saturnina is a bed and breakfast/inn located a few meters from the famous Honda Bay Wharf (island hopping). Tourist destinations such as the Underground River and Iwahig Firefly Watching may also be booked.
The place is located approximately 12 kms away from the airport (20-30 minute drive). It is a short walk away from the Honda Bay Wharf and located right across the Chinese Temple. You can get here via van transfer, tricycle ride, or multicab ride. Message me if you have any questions!
Guests will have direct access to a Chinese Temple (right across the street), the Vietnamese Village (about 1 km away), the Honda Bay Wharf (a short walk away), Underground River Tour, City Tour and Firefly Watching. This is also a GREAT drop off point for those who are coming/going to El Nido.
Interaction with Guests
My guests can contact me for any questions or suggestions via email, phone, or AirBNB messaging anytime. I also check on the guests personally to see if they need any assistance. If I'm out of town, I can still be reached. A staff member is available round the clock to provide assistance.
The neighborhood is an excellent place in case you are looking for an authentic "local" experience. We are located away from the "commercialized" inns/hotels and have actual "local" neighbors. The people are friendly and accommodating, and you can even ask to join in on some of their activities. You can sleep to the dead silence of the night and wake up to roosters crowing in the morning.
The place is accessible via tricycle, multicabs and van. You can "hire" a tricycle to go here anytime (rate doubles at night time). Going out is also easy, but I suggest you leave before 6pm (vehicles going out can get scarce after 6). You can also rent a motorbike from one of the rental places near the airport.
Other Things to Note
I like to make sure that all my guests get a great experience for their Puerto Princesa trip. I provide regular updates (personally or via mobile technology) to make sure that they get info on tour schedule changes. I love giving out tips and suggestions on where to go, where to dine and how to find things. I really should consider getting a career as a tour guide LOL.
My house is your house. I just need you to be considerate to other guests. No smoking inside the rooms (You can smoke outside).
I had a great experience staying at Sam's inn. If you are looking for a completely rustic experience and live like a local, this is the place to stay. The room was aged but very clean and had aircon. The wifi is via a small mobile router powered by a Sim card, slow but effective as long as you don't run out of juice. Sam's parents and assistant took excellent care of me and were able to do airport pick up and drop off and set up an island hopping day trip and underground river day trip. Breakfast was also provided each morning, typical Filipino flavor. The inn is a bit of a drive from downtown Puerto but I was easily able to catch a tricycle right outside to take me to and from downtown 20 - 30 mins each way in traffic. Great people and great hospitality here. I ventured out to the street to explore and ended up playing basketball with some of the neighbors. It's no resort, but a stay here is a must to truly immerse yourself in the local culture.
