A cute homestay run by a lovely family. Not in Ubud village so a motorbike is definitely necessary to transport back and forth from sights, shops and restaurants in town. I had no experience riding one, but learned from the family's nephew and rented from them directly. No kitchen or kettle, but you can order bottles of water and home-cooked meals from family.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Alang Alang House. I ended up cutting my stay short, but the two weeks I spent there were fantastic. I stayed in two different rooms: one of the small, very inexpensive rooms, and one of the nicer bungalows. It was extremely hot the first week I stayed, so the small room, with only a ceiling fan, was stifling during the day, but that was no one's fault. There was a heat wave because the rains hadn't started yet. My room was painted in the middle of my stay, which was strange, but they moved me to one of the larger bungalows for a free night, where I ended up staying the rest of the time. Fujita worked out a very fair deal for me, considering I canceled my long stay and upgraded my room. The place is kept very clean. I used the little outdoor kitchen with a gas burner stove top and refrigerator to make several dinners. BE aware that there are no restaurants nearby, although they do offer meals cooked for you. I fell in love with Made, the housemaid, who was always around to help me. Nyoman cooked for me and drove me into town on her scooter for a modest price. She was very generous and treated me to mangoes several times. Ketut, the patriarch, is a kind and generous man. He taught me a lot about the culture of Bali and took me on early-morning walks. Overall, my stay was very good. It was a little challenging to be so far from town. While it is only two miles or so, it is not an easy walk along a very busy street with broken sidewalks and lots of obstacles. But I had no problem getting rides into town and even used Uber a few times. If you want a real experience of small-village Bali culture, you will love Alang Alang House as much as I did.

I enjoyed my 3 week stay and will go back again .... Mr Ketut and his family are truly wonderful people, more than willing to go out of their way to help & as a bonus all share an excellent sense of humor ... I've read 2 negative reviews & think Mercury must have been in retrograde and the sun no longer in Uranus to have that kind of experience

I stayed at Alang Alang House for 30 days - it was a great experience! Mr. Ketut is a very good host, helping me learn more about local life and customs than I ever would have at a hotel. My room was basic but comfortable, and an excellent value for the price. You will need to pay for a motorbike rental or a ride into Ubud for most things, but the prices are reasonable - don't bother renting a car, parking is not readily available anywhere around Ubud. The family members who service the guests are friendly and helpful (thank you, Made, Nyoman, and both Kadeks!). If you want an authentic Ubud Balinese stay, I recommend Alang Alang House!

I had a perfect and wonderful stay at Alang Alang House! First when we entered the house, we're so surprised that the staff and family welcomed us very warm-heartedly. That was so nice for long-term travelers. The houst Mr. Fujita was so kind and exact when I wanted to book the room. I kept asking serveral questions again and again, he was kind all the time. I was quite impressed. Mr. Ketut's family stay there and they are such a lovely and genourous people. The staffs including Made, they're so nice just like the friends. We miss her and Ketut's family! My stay was like we went on the vacation to the relative's house in the countryside. We really enjoyed one-week stay there. Actually we wnated to stay there more, but all the rooms were already fully booked! Room is very clean. And their bed mattress was the best ever. We found ourselves stick to the bed. :) Andong is not Ubud center, but I think that neighborhood is the best area to stay in Ubud if you can ride a bike! Especially, there are so many great local restaurants. Actually, the ceiling is made following Balinese tradional style, weavend with the plants. So when other guests were right next to at our room, we felt a bit distracted at night. Except, I can't say any unsatisfied things with Alang Alang House. Especially, their beautiful garden is just great to spend the whole days. Thank you, Mr. Fujita & Ketut's family & Staffs (Made!) :)

Especially, if you plan to stay in Ubud for a long period of time, I highly recommend you Alang Alang House. I felt very lucky to find this place. I stayed here for a month and after touring other places I came back and stayed here for another 2weeks. This place already became a home away from home for me. So, I didn't need to look for other places to stay. The whole family is very friendly and they make you feel at home. Fujita is a nice and gentle host and very responsive. Made is such a lovely lady and she took me to the rice paddies. Taking a walk to rice paddies with Made was my daily routine. Thanks to Mr.Ketut and his friends, I had chances to visit temples and see several different Balinese ceremonies. This place is not located in the center of Ubud but it's only 5-7 min away by motorbike. So if you are comfortable with a bike, that's not an issue at all. Rather, I like that it is away from hustel and bustle of the center. I'll definitely come back here because now I have friends here.

Lovely bungalow for a really good price. Clean room with simple, comfortable furnishings. Room service every morning was definitely a bonus. The staff was warm and welcoming. Being able to order meals was also very convenient and at reasonable prices. The ambiance of the courtyard is very soothing and relaxing. The location is on a busy street however, so there is quite a bit of traffic noise coming through.

Hello! I met with Bali 17 years ago. My first visit made me fall in love with this island.
After that many troubles happened in my life, I was in hopeless.
But always Bali accepted me and gave me a healing light, living energy and hope for my future.
Then I become thinking to hope to share such a charm of the Island with many people.
That is the reason why I built our cottage here.

Now I go back and forth between Bali and Japan.
So my partner Mr.Ketut (who has been my friend for more 15 years)and his family will welcome guest!

We are not 5stars hotel, but have a freiendly hospitality like a homestay.
In addition we keep your praivate space like a villa.

I am reallly happy if you enjoy our stay and get energy for tomorrow,

Your sincerely

Yuichi Fujita
