Interaction with Guests
I love having guests. Marin has been my home for many years, and I can help you with any questions about this area. Apart from English I also speak fluent Swedish,French, Spanish and passable German.
The well established trees add to the charm of this older quiet neighborhood. It is great for walking. The top of the hill has a great view and is only for pedestrians. It has no houses, just trees and grass and flowers and some rocks to sit on. A little wilderness in the middle of town.
You can safely park on the street in front of the house
The express bus to San Francisco and West Marin and the gorgeous National Seashore
a five minute walk down the hill. The house is walking distance to downtown San Anselmo and to downtown San Rafael. There are of course regular buses as well.
There are airport buses to both the San Francisco and the Oakland airport starting at 4 AM

If you read the other reviews of Marianne, and if you have the opportunity to stay in her Tower Room, you will find (as did I) that the glowing reports are all true and more! She truly is a warm, charming, attentive, interesting, intelligent and witty host. She truly does welcome you with a smile and and a friendly wish to attend to your comfort. The fresh fruit, croissant, coffee and conversation were truly a delightful a way to start off the day. The Tower Room was truly just what I hoped it would be...a clean, cozy, comfortable retreat. One more truth must be revealed; I truly can't wait to return. Everything was perfect, thanks to Marianne!
Marianne is a great host and instantly makes you feel at home! She is so personable, desires to make sure you feel comfortable, and we had some great conversations. Her property & home are beautiful and staying in the tower is the perfect refuge. The location is also a perfect driving distance to San Francisco and Point Reyes National Seashore. Would definitely stay again!
It was a pleasure staying at Marianne's house! When you enter the garden through the gate you smell fresh roses and then the house is clean, spacious and well decorated. Staying in the towee room made me feel like Rapunzel!:) The fresh fruits with a warm croissant and coffee in the morning were topped with interesting conversations I had with Marianne! Thanks for everything!
Marianne is the kindest, smart and interesting woman I met on my whole trip to California. She had toasted croissant and fresh mango slices waiting for me every morning, and we had beautiful philosophical chats. Her house is amazing, and smells like roses from her garden when you walk out the door; then you walk down the street covered in honeysuckle, and smell that wafting in the air. It's a true pleasure for all the senses.
I have stayed twice now at Marianne's place, once in the tower room and once in the other. She is always very welcoming and keeps the home in good order but still feeling like a home -beautiful sitting room with book and art prints - the kinds of things I like in my own house. Fresh towels and bath robe were available. She also had coffee, fruit and a croissant waiting both mornings. A nice way to begin the day.
The tower room is cozy with a small desk and bed and the WC is just down the stairs and shower is also downstairs. A bit European in feel and scale. The other room (mother in law) is larger with a private bath and kitchenette, perhaps better if you have more luggage (I travel very light) . Both have nice views and plenty of daylight. I would stay again in either.
This was the most fabulous place I have ever stayed and Marianne was a delightful hostess. We shared many chats over breakfast and she even taught me some Spanish phrases since I plan on taking Spanish classes this summer. Marianne also took time out of her busy schedule to drive me around a nearby neighborhood looking at homes for sale.
The room was lovely, very fresh and clean with nice views. She has a charming courtyard with a beautiful rose garden ~ perfect for morning coffee or that evening glass of wine!
I defiantly plan on staying in Marianne's home the next time I am in the area. Gracias Marianne!

About the Host, Marianne
Hi I'm Marianne and I love to travel. When I am home in California I enjoy working in my beautiful garden and I love to share my flowers with everybody. Everybody tells me my Mediterranean style home is the prettiest one in the neighborhood. I enjoy taking care of it and I welcome my guests. I am always happy to answer any questions you may have about the San Francisco Bay Area.
This is a great, privately owned market. You can eat outside . where they have tables and chairs or take something home e.g. salads, soups, spare ribs, chicken, sushi, cold drinks, ice cream. paper.Red Hill Ave San Anselmo CA 94960
