Bedroom in brand new 4 bedroom two bathroom home with beautiful view of Waimea Canyon on the Island of Kauai. Waimea Canyon is called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific by Mark Twain. Our house sits near beautiful cliffs and you can walk across our property to sit by the Waimea River.
Our house sits on 1 acre and is located less than 3 miles from town, hiking kayaking, ocean beaches.
A beautiful modern kitchen has been designed by local artists. I have a large spice collection.
Our property has several producing papaya trees and our garden has tomatoes, kale, collards,, parsley, and occasionally other seasonal vegetables are available. Guests may eat the produce during their stay. Additional healthy produce can be purchased at near by farmers markets.
. Large common screened deck area has a hammock, swinging lounge chairs a ping pong and ladder ball. It is a great place to relax and look out over the garden view between the house and the river. The house and property have a lot of space. The rooms are large and the neighboring houses are not to close to our house.
Our beautifully decorated living room with it's vaulted ceilings and spacious layout also has two comfortable couches and access to WIFI .
There are beautiful walks from the property. You can walk to the river (1/4 mile) and to the beach (2 miles)
Most guests who visit the island rent a car. Our house is 1 an 3/4 miles from downtown Waimea. In town there is a bus stop which will get you to any town on the island. Bus fare is $2.
Waimea town has a theater, a historic tour, a technology center, small shops which sell local Hawaiian products and two grocery stores one which includes a fresh fish market and they also sell local beef. The famous Historic Hanapepe Art Night on Friday nights with its live music, artists and fresh food is only ten minutes away.
Many activities are available in the area including a boat tour of the Napali Coast, surfing, snorkeling kayaking, fishing, beach walking, helicopter tours, a downhill bike tour, zip lining, canyon hikes, scuba diving, and horseback riding.
My husband and I work full time so our ability to socialize with our guests depends on what is going on with our work. We are very social and will sometimes invite our guests to play music, board games and pot luck with us. If we are busy with work please respect our need to not be social. If you want your own space and prefer not to socialize we will respect you as well. Let us know your preferences as we want you to enjoy your vacation.

Mitch and Sharon are very warm and easy going hosts, including their room mate David. We checked in with ease and got a quick orientation of our room with private bathroom and the kitchen and living space with veranda/balcony, overlooking a fantastic lush garden. The latter is space shared by all guests and kept neat and tidy by everybody. Mitch not only shared goodies from their garden, but was very generous with tips about the activities, e.g. hiking, snorkeling or surfing and where to go.
The description of the place is very accurate and we loved the closeness to the canyon hikes and ocean beaches in close driving distance. The kitchen comes in handy, if you are not somebody who wants to eat out daily or for every meal. The household pets reflect the sweetness of their care takers and if you aren't too shy to ask David to give a demo of his excellent voice which he accompanies with his guitar, you are in for an extra treat. Would we recommend this place, absolutely and we would return.
What an awesome experience! Staying right in the canyon was the perfect base camp for our adventures on the west side of the island. Mitch and Sharon were lovely hosts, sharing a walk up into waimea canyon, and local knowledge on hikes as well as the local art night. Fresh fruit! Fresh avocado! Couldn't have been a better experience. If we come back to Kauai, which we hope to do, we will most definitely stay with them again.
We are very much enjoyed staying at the house and garden in nature with a lots of delicious fruits trees and quietness (except domestic chickens cry!). The specious kitchen, lanai and living room were excellent. Both Mitch and Sharon as well as David, their friend to help caring house and guest were very friendly and also respectful for guests privacy. The most loving thing is that we can eat bananas and papayas from their garden!!! We would like to come back for next time as well^^
Mitch and Sharon were very welcoming and very laid back. Their home was clean and had a fun, friendly, sharing environment. They were accommodating and more than willing to make recommendations about things on the island. They also set out fresh fruits from their garden each morning; very delicious! We were very happy with our stay there. Thank you!
Staying here was a very unique and great experience. We (my husband and I) never actually got to meet Sharon and Mitch as they were away off island, but they were super nice and helpful on the phone. Their property manager Dave was fantastic. He was completely available (via phone or txt) for questions or if problems arose (which they didn't) and was really friendly and nice. The house itself is really cool. Staying there reminded me almost of staying at a youth hostel but for adults. The rooms are all private but the bathrooms are shared. There's a super spacious and open kitchen/living room area that allowed guests to gather and mingle or have their own space (whichever they preferred). Our favorite part was the incredible lanai that wraps around 2 whole sides of the house. We ate meals out there and read on the hammock- it was awesome. There was also fresh fruit shared by the hosts! It was nice being out in the canyon a bit (although still very close to the down town strip) and really beautiful. Like everywhere else in Kauai we were awoken everyday by the roosters. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves. If you're looking for a well-priced and communal type spot near the canyon on the west side, we'd recommend this hideaway!
We had a nice clean bedroom and shared kitchen with two other guests. The home is very spacious with wide screened decks on two sides of a large living room. The host was very friendly and shared fruit from the many trees in their garden, which backs onto the Weimea River. We enjoyed a wonderful walk to a beautiful banana farm at the end of the road in Weimea Canyon. Mitch Milan gave us some great tips on places to eat in Weimea.

I have put a room in my house in airbnb and here is what I like of my guests. I am also this kind of guest.
I like a guest that wants to explore on their own. If time allows I like to hike with you. Frequently I am very busy so it is important that guests are independent and want to go and explore on their own.
A guest at my house will be self directed. I have a full time career and will not be able to show you around. However I am very social and look forward to meeting you.
Staying here will be similar to staying at a hostel in that you are self directed, make your own plans, do your own thing and clean up after yourself. The only exception is that the accommodations are nicer. My house is clean but, I do work full time so I keep my prices low and my rooms livable. If you like immaculate places where you are waited on, this is not the place for you.
