  • Millie's was a great place to stay. She was very easy to connect with and had everything set-up upon approval. Her home was well taken care of, the room was great, bathroom too! I would definitely stay here again if I am in the area.

  • Millie's house is considered a great place for the price. I love the homey feel and ability to fix myself a coffee or tea or snack in a kitchen. It was very peaceful. I enjoy my time there very much. Millie is a great host, always trying to make me feel comfortable. Thanks, Millie!

  • I've responded point by point to your comments below. I would like the other members of the airbnb community to know the facts as I experienced them, facts that led me to leave my stay with you early. You said and did things that no guest should have to experience. Kimberley was generously given a rate of stay significantly below the daily/weekly price so as to accommodate her finances and her living circumstances which previously was a tent at the Ojai Foundation. Part of the retreat experience at the Ojai Foundation is camping on the land. I had planned to stay at the Foundation for a month to renew body and spirit. Halfway into my stay I was offered a work project that I decided to take. This required me to come down from the land. I rented an office on Ojai from airbnb member Johann (positively reviewed) and sent inquiries out to airbnb members in the Ojai area for a room. Please note that I was not living in a tent because I was homeless or unable to afford a place to stay. Millie sent three different -- and unrequested -- special offers. One after another. I accepted one of them. I didn't know why she sent me the special rates. Kimberley had many “requests” prior to entering Serenity in Ojai. I cannot recall any requests. I did send a message saying I was somewhat concerned about the comfort of the futon after reading several reviews. Every effort was made to accommodate her requests, including the purchase of a mattress for her bed. She adamantly declined this purchase, stating she had solved the problem. When I arrived at your house, you told me I could cancel after a night's stay if I wanted. The futon was uncomfortable, but I managed the way other guests have, by inserting pillows into the cracks. My work schedule was such that it was easier to manage around the bed than seek new accommodations. When you called me at work to let me know you were stopping to buy a foam topper, yes, I did say not to bother on my account. You seemed to be put out by the effort from your tone of voice, and I really just wanted to work and come home and sleep with no interruptions. I was busy. .December 8th and December 16th, Kimberley was requesting to stay at Serenity in Ojai on a month to month basis starting in January. As my work was going to be continuing, I was looking at short-term rentals in the area. We may have discussed an extension at your place - I don't recall. On December 13th, Kimberley wrote the following message: “Millie thank you so much for turning off the (outdoor Christmas) lights and asking (private name) to turn down the TV last night. I got a very restful sleep and am 50% better already!” I got sick one night at your house. Part of the reason was the tension...

During Kimberley’s stay, she invited a long hair outdoor neighborhood cat to stay inside the house alone without first asking - resulting in carpet replacement due to cat urine; and extra house cleaning due to feline allergens. Kimberley also took it upon herself to let my dogs out from their secure housing since she “thought they needed exercise”.
The day before Kimberley was due to leave; she wanted a housing reference from me. I stated she had crossed some boundaries while living with me. At that point Kimberley became verbally hostile toward me; and followed this tirade with a written commentary that was groundless, bizarre, and antagonistic.
As for the Airbnb guest with the dog; Kimberley’s comments are completely unfounded. I would suggest prospective guests read this current guest’s upcoming review at the end of January for a more balanced and accurate perspective.

  • Millie and her house were great.

  • Millie was an excellent host - she was friendly but not overly chatty when we needed space; her home was always clean; and she went way out of her way to help in a couple of ways, including driving to Ventura to ship my laptop back to me via a trusted UPS outlet, adjusting the thermostat for the whole house one evening that for some reason I felt particularly warm, and other truly kind, accommodating, out of her way things.

The room (#2) was a good size, the bed was very comfortable, the kitchen somehow accommodated 3 families who were all using it.
It was a bit crowded while we were there, as 3 rooms were all being rented at once, and me and my daughter were sharing a room, and another room was being shared by a whole family, and there were 2 extra dogs there. So if that matters to you, you might check in with Millie about how many people and pets will be there. And good news for people who want to bring their dogs :)

But I was in class all day, and just needed a clean, quiet place to sleep and eat, and a good hostess, which I got in spades. And somehow even with that many people, it was always quiet for sleeping hours, somehow the one guest bathroom was always available, etc. And the bonus was my daughter got to play with the other girl there and they had a blast! :)

Oh, also, Ojai is so darned beautiful.... Nice views of the mountains and beautiful starry night skies :)

  • Very hospitable! I had my own room with a shared bath. She was very considerate, I arrived at 11 PM without issue.
