About this listing
I own a beautiful rural log home 5 minutes south of downtown Sturgeon Bay surrounded by huge maple trees, which are beautiful in any season but especially in the fall..I rent out 2 "country chic" guest bedrooms, rented separately ( a queen bed in each) with a shared bathroom. My bedroom is on the top level, so you have the run of the rest of the house with its huge living room, cathedral ceiling, cozy natural stone wood fireplace, cable TV, WiFi, dining room and shared kitchen. There is also a large deck which rings half the house, a firepit and an enclosed screen porch which is yours to use.
We are 2 minutes away from Potawatomi State Park and its wonderful hiking/biking trails, groomed ski./snowmobile trails and fishing/boating and kayak opportunities. Door County is a peninsula with 270 miles of shoreline and 5 state parks. We are known as an art and cultural paradise with live music, folk festivals, several live theatres,a vast assortment of wineries, art galleries, great places to shop, quaint boutiques and (my favorite..), antique stores galore. Door County caters for all 4 seasons.. Its been called the "Cape Cod of the Midwest"
I'm asking $110.00 per room per night (this includes Door County room tax and Wisconsin Sales Tax) which includes breakfast. I feed you exceptionally well... usually a home made hot breakfast, with great fresh-ground coffee in my French Press. You won't start a day of exploring hungry!
Price includes all Wisconsin and Door County Room Taxes...
I have a quaint wrap-around deck and porch. The porch has a roof over it. I also have a screen porch to use in the summer, so the bugs won't get you at night. I have a great fire-pit that my guests love to sit around and make awesome fires.
Interaction with Guests
I love to meet new people and get to know them. That's why I love Airbnb...it's so wonderful to sit and share wine and talk. If you want to be left alone, I will do that also! It's great to enjoy a fire in my fireplace in winter, or a fire outside in my firepit. I've made lasting friendships with my guests, and I've had them return time and time again!
My house is nestled in a beautiful forest of maple trees. A walk around the block is a zen moment in itself...the trees are so tall and lush. It's just a 5-minute drive to Potawatomi State Park, or a 10 minute drive to downtown Sturgeon Bay.
Sorry, Sturgeon Bay is a small town, so there is no public transportation. There is a local taxi cab though.
Main floor amenities can be used by guests. Basement has weight machine and eliptical and potentially more places to sleep... Top floor is my bedroom, which is totally my own space.. Please simply leave it as clean you found it.
This Log Home B&B was just like the photos! Cheri, our host, was really friendly and although our schedules didn't match up, she left us with many things to do and helped us feel welcome. The dog was a surprise, and it was like a real-life version of Wishbone from the TV show. The house was clean and inviting for guests.
Cheri was a wonderful host! Her home is beautiful in the woods - a unique log cabin. Great place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Very close to Potawatomi state park to go hiking and biking! The breakfasts were wonderful as well, including homemade quiche and a baked French toast! We would stay at her place again in the future; it was a great experience and reasonably priced.
This was wonderful. Cheri made us feel right at home. She immediately invited us in and engaged us in a delightful conversation for hours. She is so sweet and knows a bunch about the surrounding area. Her danish pancake-crepe breakfast for us was top-notch! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place in DC WI, and I'd love to return as well.
This was my first time using Airbnb. Cheri was a wonderful host, and it was a very nice experience!
Our first AirBnB experience and it was lovely! Cheri was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Her house was beautiful and we would definitely stay with her again.
This is a beautiful log cabin nestled in the woods a short distance from Sturgeon Bay. Very Peaceful. Excellent hospitality. Cheri was very accommodating with our changing arrival times (we were enjoying the many wineries and shops on our way to Door County). Cheri is an outstanding host. My wife and I believe we may never find a more hospitable and talented host as Cheri with future AirBnB accommodations. Her crepes will homemade jam and maple syrup were unforgettable.
Thank you for making our last stop on our 8 day tour around Lake Michigan the most memorable.
Cheri advertises her home as a "beautiful log home," and it is! The house is in the woods, and there's a fire pit in back that guests are free to use. The house is an easy drive to the highway and the sights of Door County.
The best part about our stay was definitely Cheri, she is an amazing host. She and Jack, her very cute and calm dog, made us feel very welcome. As a Door County native, Cheri had wonderful tips about things to do and see during our stay. Cheri was flexible with check in time, which was great because we hit some traffic on our drive up.
Staying with Cheri was a wonderful chance to relax, and we looked forward to waking up to the breakfasts she set out for us. This house gives you a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of Door County, with the modern conveniences (WIFI!) that some people can't live without. Would recommend 100%.
About the Host, Cheri
I've lived in Sturgeon Bay my entire life, growing up on a cherry and apple orchard in Door County, which is a century farm, run by my brother, Kris Robertson. I work full-time during the week, and occasional weekends, so there are times I can't serve you breakfast like in a restaurant, but I will have food prepared for you to eat. I have a refrigerator for you to store your own snacks and beverages...My only request is that my home is not an all-inclusive, and I don't have a liquor license, so please don't think my liquor cabinet is a free-for-all....
I love to travel, kayak, bike, camp, hike, cross-country ski...Right now, I'm trying to hike around Door County, one beach at a time..I've recently become a grandmother to a beautiful baby boy, who I know will become the love of my life...(May 2014 - My Grandson just turned 2, oh how time flies!..and he "is" the love of my life!)
I love to sew, especially felted mittens, but also enjoy cozying next to my fireplace watching a good movie. I have a jack-russell terrier named Chloe..she's another reason I love to hike..I refinish furniture, and recently have learned to upholster. I'm a people person, and it's great to meet them this way, by helping them have a great vacation while they're in Door County...
Updated Dec 2012...my poor Chloe lost her battle with kidney failure...and I miss her terribly...I recently adopted a 6 yr. old boy Jack Russell (named Jack). He is such a sweet boy and is making me very happy....I'm sure you'll enjoy his company too! And Dayton, my grandson is a healthy and happy..so proud of him!
