Our philosophy is to be as normal as possible, open, friendly, easy going....showing the guests our surroundings from a local point of view....
The house is a mixture of old, new and comfortable ..... just as we are , old fashioned in a modern world:)
We like it simple and natural, our house is not a luxury hotel, but 5 stars cosy, welcoming and friendly. The attic is a cosy space, where in winter we use traditional heating with wood. Our 5 stars MATRESSES :) and a double BED are very comfortable
So we have 1 double BED, 1 "pull out" couch, 2 double mattresses and 2 single ones , a hammock and 3 couches:)..... you might not see them in the pictures, but they are behind the oven and the couch.
*** UPDATE: Since a few weeks we even have more light and space due to a glass construction that allows you to enjoy an amazing mountain view directly from the attic!! ***********************************************************************
By the way, what we offer is NOT an appartment! but a room in our house.Bathroom and kitchen ARE SHARED! your room (the attic) would be on the 2nd floor and the bathroom on the groundfloor, so you will get fitter and fitter:)
We are located in WALS, on the border with Germany....so NOT IN the city center, but just at the outskirts of Salzburg. If you are coming BY CAR you are in 15' in the center of Salzburg. BY BUS it will take u around 25'.
Its a perfect place to stay if you come for the " Salzburger FESTSPIELE" (cultural event) or OKTOBER FEST in Münich. Wals bei Salzburg ist 1h30min. away from Münich either by car or by train.
.....and not only:) if you want to visit the surroundings of Salzburg or go skiing in winter we are 1' away from the highway in all directions. Next skiing resort is less than one hour from here, big ones like Flachau / Zauchensee 1hr 15min.
Last but not least, after contacting us PLEASE stay sincere and let us know if our offer is attractive to you or not :)
We are on the outskirts of Salzburg City, in a village called Wals. if you have a car you can be in 15' in the city center. if you take the bus you are there in 25'.
The next shopping center (Hofer, Penny) is about 10' away fromour house.
There is an amazing organic shop 3' away and fresh bakery products 5'away.
Other Things to Note
we only offer ONE ROOM in our private house.
all of you will sleep in this one room:)
we have tenants living with us in the house
you are sharing the bathroom and kitchen
- close the windows in the attic when you are living the house. You never know when the rain comes:)
- take a "quick" shower. our boiler is heating over night and has a certain capacity. each of us want to take a hot shower:)
We loved how everyone was friendly and welcome. Kindly said this was one of the best experience I have ever had. Not missing anything and that Playstation in the kitchen - aaaah what a point!
What else ?? Just highly recommend!

Place as described! Great. Location and easy to get into the city Salzburg. Carmela was very helpful and kind. We enjoyed being in the house and experiencing a more local setting of Austria. All and all a great room!
We had a great time at Carmela's! She and her partner were very kind and helpful and we got everything we need during our short stay. All the communication was clear and we didn't have any problems. The place itself is really beautiful. Spacious cozy room with a beautiful view of mountains from the terrrace. Each one of us enjoyed that :-)
The place is just amazing and Carmela and her family are also perfect! They opened their house for us and we felt just in home. Every day on the morning, she prepared us coffee and bread, and it was just so nice. I would definitely stay there again if I come there!
Our stay at Carmelas house was awesome! The room is very big and cosy, the beds are very comfortable and the fireplace is so nice to chill out after a long day.
Carmela and her family are lovely as well, she prepared us a great breakfast in the morning and her husband already had heated the fireplace when we came home in the evening - what more could you wish for. Wals is a very nice village, not far from Salzburg, easy to reach by bus and with a few nice restaurants and an organic supermarket.
Thanks again for the lovely stay!
Carmela was an incredible host! We were able to use the kitchen to cook dinner one night and she offered to make breakfast for us each morning we were there.
The room looked just like the photographs and the view from the balcony was beautiful. I loved the hammock!
There are 2 buses that will take you from Carmela's to the center of the city. The 180 bus is a bit more expensive but the bus stop is almost directly outside the house. The other bus is the 2. It's about a 10 minute walk from Carmela's (she drove me there because I had all of my bags - she's a wonderful host) but you can use the 24 hour bus pass which is a lot cheaper than buying tickets for the 180. Check the bus schedules!
Definitely go to Hellbrunner Allee and walk it. It's beautiful (and from the Sound of Music) and there's some friendly cows too.
About the Host, Carmela
Teaching tennis and sports to kids, taking care of them as a pedagogue"after school" are my work, passion and freedom:)
After improving my German language at the University of Salzburg,i also got my bachelor degree in Sport Science.
He is a scientist teaching at the University of Salzburg and as a “break” from science he is also working as a psychotherapist. So don’t be surprised that when you will be staying with us you won’t really see him, because he will wake up after breakfast and come home after dinner:)
Apart from the serious work stuff, we enjoy life as much as possible, especially by travelling to the South or at least somewhere where there isn't too much snow. We are the backpacker type of tourists, like it easy and simple...being more interested in knowing “real life” and not the “touristic illusions”, meeting the locals or interesting people that are crossing our way....and Nathan our son (born in 2012) is accompanying us not only on all these trips, but also on the beautiful journey of life:)
Besides travelling, sports like: tennis, skiing, deep work, Zumba are another way to keep us active and in shape. We prefer to watch sport events on TV – football, formula 1, skiing, tennis, documentaries etc.
