This property is located near San Pedrito and is a 5 minute walk to the beach. San Pedrito is considered an intermediate to advanced surf break because of its rocky bottom and strong currents. San Pedrito generally favors a right break, especially in the winter when the northwest swells push through and offshore winds blow from the northeast. Oftentimes a bit bigger than Los Cerritos, San Pedrito can handle head high+ swells. October through March often has northwest groundswells over the rocky reef in a series of solid, lined-up rights. Summertime tends to be peakier and sees more A-frames up and down the beach, favoring lefts. The best time to surf San Pedrito is on mid- to low-tides before the morning winds pick up. Recommended board is a short board, booties should be worn for urchins and some locals wear helmets for the rocks.
This property is also located near Los Cerritos. Cerritos is a beach break combined with a point break, offering choice waves for beginners and those more experienced. Short boards and longboards are appropriate for this Baja surf break. Winter northwest swells light up the classic point break and the beach break, though mushy at times tends to work year round. The point break delivers and fast and peaky wave. The point can be crowded and competitive but there are usually plenty of inside waves to catch also. When the swell and sandbars are right you'll get tubing lefts on the inside section. Cerritos surf break is very consistent with no frequent lulls between sets.
You will need to rent a car for the area. There are many rental agencies located at the airport.
The drive from the airport to the home is about an hour and 15 minutes.

We had a really nice time visiting Jay's house in late March 2014. The house is really beautiful and was very comfortable for our family of 4 (w/ 2 teen-age boys). We were there only 3 nights and had a couple long walks on the beautiful local (and deserted) beach as well as a couple of multi-hour sessions surfing at Cerritos beach with Jay's surf & boogie boards. Having the soft rack for the rental car was a big plus. We cooked most of our meals at the house and the kitchen has everything we could want. In fact, it has more kitchen appliances than we have at home! Buying oranges at the local grocery store and making fresh orange juice with Jay's juicer was muy delicioso! We also had tasty waffles one morning with Jay's waffle maker.
I was a little bit worried that I would have trouble finding the house because it is down some dirt roads (most things are when you get away from the big city resorts), but it was no problem. You can see it pretty easily with (website hidden) Earth if you want some additional help (Street View is not out there yet).
In addition to surfing and beach-walking, some of the other things we did during our short stay were: Exploring around Todos Santos and El Pescadero towns; ATV riding at Migrino (not particularly close, but we had a good time); swimming in Jay's pool; watching one of Jay's DVDs; and hanging out at the outdoor market at Baja Beans (just down the road from Jay's).
We saw Jay a couple of times during our visit and he was really nice and helpful to make sure we had a good stay. We would definitely stay there again if we get to visit the area again!
We rented this house for a week along with another couple (total of 4 adults) and had a fantastic time. It is well-located about halfway between Todos Santos to the north and Cerritos beach to the south (for surfing). The beach that is just a short walk way out the front gate is also lovely for watching lovely sunsets (although you can also do that from the balcony of the second floor casita over the garage, or from the roof deck). The house is well furnished and the kitchen was very well-stocked with basic food supplies (and some extras) as well as equipment. The best thing about the house, however, was the beds. Comfy yet firm mattresses with excellent quality sheets, down comforters and pillows. Listening to the surf each night while falling asleep in such comfort was a joy. Jay was a terrific host and made sure we had everything we needed, including a soft roof rack for our rental car. Highly recommend this house and Jay.
