At a tranquil dream location in Chianti mid-way between Florence and SIena, L'Antica Cistera is a tastefully restored spacious Tuscan farmhouse that sleeps up to 9 people in 4 bedrooms. It has numerous facilities, outdoor space and a swimming pool.

The space

At a tranquil dream location in Chianti mid-way between Florence and SIena, L'Antica Cistera is a tastefully restored traditional Tuscan farmhouse tucked away in the rolling Chianti hills overlooking the Elsa valley and San Gimignano.
The villa sleeps up to 9 people in four bedrooms and features spacious living areas. Three bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the other bedroom has its own bathroom next door. The fifth bathroom houses the washing machine.
It is a perfect starting point for visits to Tuscany's Unesco heritage sites and other nearby historic centres and market towns, and affords plenty of opportunities for discovering and enjoying the stunningly beautiful surrounding countryside. Distances: Florence (30km), Siena (35km), San Gimignano (18km), Certaldo Alto, birthplace of Boccaccio (10km).
The house dates back to the 17th century at least and some parts, such as the underground granary and stone foundations, may be mediaeval. Indeed, it is within the conservation area of Semifonte, the fortified city that was razed to the ground in 1202 by the Florentines.
The owners live in a separate part of the house. We are British, are fluent in Italian and are at your disposal for advice and assistance with your stay in Tuscany, e.g. reservations, tourist recommendations and activities.
The property has the following facilities:
• tastefully furnished and decorated rooms with original beamed ceilings and terracotta floors,
• garden: vine-shaded terrace with tables and barbecue, sun terrace, olive grove
• swimming pool shared with the neighbouring house, 9 x 4 metres
• satellite TV with video player
• parking for 2-3 vehicles

Guest access

The large farm house is divided into two completely separate parts, each with its own entrance and outdoor space.
Guests have full access to the western part, while we owners live in the eastern end. We do our best to respect your privacy but are generally available if you need help or advice.

The villa was in a wonderful location to explore Florence & Siena. The hosts were helpful in making reservations and/or replenishing supplies in the house. Ann cooked a delicious dinner for our group as well!

The villa looked exactly like the pictures-beautiful! We had a group of 6 friends (aged 36-48) & we had a great time cooking meals together in the big kitchen. We each had our own room and plenty of space as we were two couples and two singles so the four rooms were very nice. The pool was open and we were able to use it one day as the other days were too busy visiting local towns and wineries. Charly arranged a tasting at the local Casa alle Vacche winery which was amazing & we highly recommend visiting it & Valentina who spoke very good English. Didn't want to leave, loved our stay here!!

Beautiful surroundings and amazing views. Great layout with spacious bedrooms and big kitchen for cooking and sharing meals. The hosts were very responsive to any emails and gave great directions to get to their home from Rome. Given the extreme heat in Italy this summer, the lack of air conditioning was a bit uncomfortable.

What a slice of heaven! Our delightful hosts, Charly & Ann, have just that. It's a little tricky to find in all the winding roads but if you follow their directions exactly (don't use a gps, it won't work!), you will get there in good order. The house was very spacious and well equipped. Lovely antiques and comfortable spaces. Note that it does have a spiral staircase to the upstairs bedrooms which might be difficult for those less agile. The views simply can't be beat. The weather was perfect for our group of 6 so we were able to eat our meals outside each day and enjoy the incredible views. The location is great for seeing all the famous and not so famous hill towns and the drives to and from the farmhouse were adventures in themselves. Ann arranged for a cooking lesson just up the road for us and the following night we went wine tasting with the teacher and her husband. Truly a most wonderful house and warm, engaging hosts.

Great hosts, amazing view, fantastic property. What else can I say? Charly and Ann are very accomadating hosts with good tips for the area. The property, both inside and out, is comfortable and inviting. We had 8 adults and 2 toddlers and felt like their was plenty of different spaces for dining, conversation, and lounging. The bedrooms are a good size and the layout of the house provides for a quiet moment during the day or night.

We were with two other families for a total of 8 adults and one infant. The home was beautiful, the setting exquisite. The beds were comfortable, the pool was clean and cool and a great relief. Furthermore the families upstairs never heard the baby crying downstairs in the night. Charlie was a fount of information, very professional and very sweet. We would recommend this home to everyone! Thank you Charlie!!
