The Space

Completely furnished studio apartment in 8-year-old Victorian-style home. Located in the Historic Fairhaven District in a quiet neighborhood, just blocks from the heart of the shopping district. Private entrance with off-street parking.

Continental-style breakfast supplied including: coffee, tea, juice, organic milk, organic fruit and home-baked breads, pastries or granola. We do our best to honor special diets, so please let us know if you are allergic or simply avoiding certain foods.

Within walking distance of: restaurants, shops, hiking trails, beach, parks, off-leash dog park, heron rookery, Alaska Ferry Terminal, Amtrak and Greyhound Stations. Just a mile from Western Washington University (WWU) and their famous outdoor sculptures.

We have a queen-size bed in the room and a futon/couch that opens up to a single bed. TV with cable and DVD, WiFi, full kitchen, central heating as well as a space heater, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. We created an Adorable Patio just for our B&B guests to the left of the outdoor Welcome sign and up a few steps. We are also gay-friendly.

The bathroom has an Om sign design in the tile. The Studio has some cool antiques and wicker furniture. It's very warm and cheerful. It's, well, adorable! :)

We allow dogs in The Adorable Studio. We charge a one-time fee of $10/dog to cover any additional cleaning that we may need to do. You can pay this fee upon arrival.

We have an old dog - a Catahoula named Bisbee. She will bark when you first arrive at our front door, but she is VERY friendly and barking is her way of saying "Hi". We also have a black and white cat named Kali. She's very shy so you may not get to meet her.

The Adorable Studio is located directly below our kitchen and dining room, which have ceramic tile and wood floors. We do our best to be quiet, but you will inevitably hear us as we cook, talk, feed the dog, etc. Also, a few of our grandchildren may be here before or after school, or just to pay a visit. If total silence is what you are after, you may not get it at our Studio.

***Note to bikers, paddlers and skiers: We have a garage adjacent to the studio where you can safely store your gear.

  • Everything was absolutely perfect; the location, the facility, and especially the Hosts. Our weekend revolved around a wedding, and the entire setting couldn't have been more perfect, and even the weather cooperated. Our hosts saw to our every need, and then some. The site was well described prior to our arrival and lived up to every claim. The Fairhaven neighborhood makes walking a pleasure and the restored town is a pure delight. Adorable Fairhaven Studio Apartment will be our return site for the years to come.

  • Everything was perfect from the neighborhood (Fairhaven--the best Bellingham neighborhood!), to the homemade granola, to the super dreamy bed, to the friendly and helpful hosts. Saralee and Jerry were full of restaurant and park ideas but also left us to our own explorations. We will be back!

We brought the chair from my office down for extra seating. I was unaware my grandkids were using it to roll around on! Sorry!

  • We had a great visit at the Adorable Fairhaven Studio Apartment. Saralee and Jerry were excellent hosts as we felt right at home. They even shared a tip of the local Wednesday night farmer's market in downtown Fairhaven where we were able to find some tasty fresh peas, carrots, zucchini, bok choy... mmmm... This along with the awesome organic fruit, juice, milk, bread, coffee and granola made for two superb days of dining ;) We also made the trip out to the new 'Rock Trail' in nearby Larabee park which was a fun hike. Great hosts, great location, great eats, and a comfy space with all that we needed. Thank you for sharing your space! :)

  • Sara and Jerry are sweet, laid-back, and thoughtful hosts. (They were super-accommodating when we had an unusual and sudden request.) The apartment is perfectly clean, well-laid out, and ideally located for a quiet and private stay, yet easy walking distance from Fairhaven Center. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Delicious breakfast treats, too!

  • We had a wonderful time. After staying at the Kilgore's for 4 nights and then having to switch over to a hotel made us appreciate the cozy, Bellingham studio all the more. We loved the goodies brought down to us everyday and both Sara and Jerry's warm and friendly hospitality. We will rave about this place.

Response from Saralee Sky & Jerry Kilgore:

    HI Debra,
In the future, the couch folds down by pulling the back toward you until you hear a click and then laying it down. We also have an air mattress that goes on top of the futon to make it even more comfy. We have a mattress pad and fitted sheets and comforter as well. We had no idea Kade was staying here, otherwise we would have made up the futon for you. Next time let us know.
Hope your trip home was good.
    :) Saralee

  • Adam and I loved staying with Saralee and Jerry! They were so welcoming and the studio is just the right size. They live so close to the little downtown area, so walking there for dinner was easy. We explored the area in the morning as well. They had fresh bread waiting for us, as well as granola, juice, milk, coffee, tea, etc. I have no complaints and would love to stay with them again. We felt right at home. :) Thanks again!!!

  • The apartment is very clean and well furnished located in a prime location and within walking distance to great restaurants and shops. With Saralee's recommendation, we ate at Fat Pie Pizza, probably one of the best pizza we ever had. Saralee and Jerry are extremely friendly. They received us with charming. We had a good talk with them, great people with great personality. All the information you need for a wonderful stay is provided for you in a well organized manual. we loved our hosts and the city with its friendly people.

Jer and I are baby boomers with 5 sons, 4 daughters-in-law and 7 grandchildren so far. We are easy-going and spiritually eclectic. We love hiking, camping, gardening, yoga, kirtan and baking (lucky for you!). We have an aging dog, Bisbee, who will bark when you first arrive - her way of greeting. We just adopted a new kitty, Kali, who is fast becoming the darling of the family. Jer's writing a novel. He also does project management for a shipyard in CA from time to time.We both take care of two of the grandkids before and after school, and bake for the B&B. I help out in the office at Whatcom Hills Waldorf School and I teach grant writing and hosting charity auctions at the local community college. I am currently apprenticing with a local intuitive healer, and am learning Reiki and other forms of alternative healing. “All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.” – Martin Buber
