Lovingly called Freetown the neighborhood is wonderful, depending on your preference its walking or biking distance to all the great food, festivals and downtown attractions. I believe strongly that it is emerging and blossoming into the best most affordable neighborhood to live in downtown! :)
Most things are walking or biking distance. No promises yet but I'm working on a bike rack for the yard and guest bikes for the apt. :)

The apartment was located close to downtown in an industrial-looking type of neighborhood. The lockbox with the keys and clear instructions from the owner made it easy to get in and out of with no problems. Honestly, we didn't even meet Mr. Magruder while we were there. We did briefly run into a friend of his who was very friendly. The apartment itself was neat and clean. We're used to dogs barking and living near train tracks, so that didn't bother us. I'd say it was a good value for the price.
William was friendly to communicate with prior to arriving, however we didn't meet in person. Check in was easy and convenient. Internet dropped out the second day, but no big issue. Cute studio for couples.
William is very friendly and its studio is indeed charming. Cleanliness is fine but could be slightly improved. There's a railroad nearby so those who don't have a deep sleep may be bothered by the trains' honks. Otherwise we had a good time at this place.
We unfortunately didn't have the chance to meet William, but our stay in his lovely guest cottage went very well from the welcome booklet with info on local things to see, do and eat to the great radio station he left on for us to discover. Visitors will have complete independence to take advantage of their time in the area. The only thing I might mention is that this may not be the best place for late sleepers as there is quite a lot of noise that starts at 9am weekdays from the nearby roads, trains and the garage. All the more reason to get up and see Lafayette!
A nice house in a quiet neighbourhood and close to downtown. The place is very clean and well equipped if you want to cook. William gave us all infos we need to enjoy our stay. Merci beaucoup !
The studio was clean except for crumbs on the old table cloth. The television was a 12 inch with no remote. The internet reception is weak and drops out. The train comes by often and toots its horn. The location was convenient for our stay, and the studio worked out. With a few minor changes it could have been great.
We had a great time at William's studio. He is a very nice host and his place is comfortable and safe. We stayed two weeks and we feel like home. Plus, we had a wonderful day with him. This is affordable for the area. Thanks again Will.
Nice “Cabin in the city” experience. Close to the University and downtown attractions, comfortable accommodations with completely outfitted kitchen. Highly recommended.
Accommodations were cute and charming, but not very clean. Promises made regarding use of fenced yard and off-street parking were made but not kept. Studio space would have been most enjoyable, with a very convenient location, except it sits above Will's workshop with machinery being used, and also serves as a kennel for his barking Pit Bull. Lights and noise from workshop came right through the uninsulated floorboards. Definitely not set up for colder temperatures either. Of all the AirBnB stays we have had, this one left us feeling the least welcome, unfortunately. Will is a nice enough guy, but clearly not cut out to be a host.
I don't agree at all with Ivan's review: I take pride in my responsibility as a host and therefore I do provide clean and well kept accommodations. I have been a host now for nearly 2 years and as you can see here my history of reviews is exceptional. I made every attempt within reason to make sure Ivan and his guest were accommodated. Initially I granted Ivan a weekly rate at his request, once his stay was almost complete he asked to stay an additional 2 days so I said yes but reverted back to the daily rate. He complained of this so I granted his request to stay an additional 2 days and charged him a pro rated fee based on the weekly rate. He seemed satisfied with this and to get the better rate he suggested he would give me a good review. But really I think he just wanted something for nothing. Ivan did request off street parking and I promised use of same until I returned from out of town. No promise broken there. As for the yard I originally intended to provide this as an additional convenience but since then circumstances have changed as a result I have modified my listing to not include this. I have a small space and I do from time to time do work below but I do not impose on my guests and only do work when they are not there. As for my dog I am a lover of ALL animals and don't discriminate against them so why would it matter what kind of dog I have as long as he is well behaved? All in all I have had very good experiences with all of my guests often sharing my home cooked food from time to time a beer with them. Although Ivan was not one of my best experiences I will not let this discourage me from hosting other guests with a smile.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
