A working farm with trails and animals
Walk 48 acres of trails, visit goats and sheep, and unwind by the fire pit at night
Loved for the hosts and the details
Guests describe the cottage as charming and spotless, and many highlight Drake and Wright by name
We invite you to make our Rhode Island oasis your destination! Stay in a private, light and art-filled cottage on our historic, 48-acre, working fiber farm. Walk the trails, visit our goats and sheep and ask us about the modern slow-fiber movement! Convenient to 95, 295, TF Green, 12 mins from Providence, close to colleges, universities and hospitals.
The space
This is a large, private, two floor cottage. The first floor is a large open concept space with a living area that includes a convertible sofa for overflow guests. There is also a full bath, full kitchen and laundry. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms (one queen and three doubles) and a full bath. Each bedroom is on an individual heating zone and there are lots of fans for summer stays (no AC). The private patio includes seating and a grill. Guests have access to their own SOLO fire pit (safe and easy to use!) and we provide the wood). We also have croquet, bocce and other outdoor games as well as a selection of indoor board games for all ages.
Amenities:
Linen sheets (possibly our favorite thing)
Extra blankets and pillows
Wireless internet
Iron and ironing board
Washer/dryer
Coffee machine (and we provide some coffee, tea, sugar, honey)
Fully equipped kitchen including microwave
soap, bath salts, moisturizers and various travel items in bathrooms
Guest access
We have 48 acres of walking trails and there is access to a nearby bike path.
Other things to note
Our farm is always a work-in-progress. You are as likely to see it at its best (perfect days and the goats aren't naughty) as at its worse (torrential rain and the sheep are covered in mud and burrs) but we like to think that you see us as we are: accidental, ever-learning farmers with heart. Most of all, we love to share this place with others-and that is why we love hosting so much.

From the host
We are an oasis in the middle of a relatively developed suburb -our farm , now 48 acres , was once many hundreds of acres and our road was once named after the family that founded the farm in the mid 18th century. Depending on how you drive in, you might be confused by the plats you drive by! But once you get to us, you'd never know we are actually in the middle of a neighborhood!

I'm a former archaeologist/anthropologist and arts and humanities non-profit leader turned farmer and entrepreneur. My husband and co-host Wright is a designer/fabricator and artist (some of the art in our listings is his). His fabrication business and our events and education space share space with the cottage, our home, our fiber flock and three resident , women-owned farms. Hurricane Hill is a work-in-progress with many years ahead to bring it back to its full glory. Meanwhile, we treasure its light, its birdsong and the ever changing gifts the land offers.
We also help out my mom by hosting spaces at her historic row house in Providence. Staying there is a vastly different experience than a stay at our farm-but we also love sharing her beautiful home with guests!
