I could not have been more pleased with my experience with Little Cabin in the Woods! Where to begin... the cabin is perfect. We had a party of 5 adults plus a dog. I'm torn on my favorite area of the house: the basement has a beautiful pool table, bed and tv, plus easy access to the fenced-in backyard. Basement was perfect for lounging with friends during the day. Plus a shower and bathroom made this the best area of the house. The ground level is perfect - fully stocked kitchen, comfy couches and an amazing porch. The bedroom here has access to the patio level with seating. Such a great view to wake up to in the morning. Bedroom upstairs is in the loft area - and the house overall is beautifully done. A lot of hard work and thought surely went into this home. Fully stocked kitchen made meals at home easy, plus Larry and his wife left us a binder full of great neighborhood information for us to be able to explore on our own. TVs have HDMI hookups so we brought cords to project from our phones and computers. There's an indoor fire stove which is amazing, though we didn't light it. Instead, we made use of the outdoor fire pit. Overall, house and yard were impeccably kept up. I was extremely impressed. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend this to anyone considering an experience near Blue Ridge. A+++ for the house and the wonderful hosts!
Little Cabin in the Woods was the perfect getaway for our family! We had a wonderful stay. The cabin was absolutely perfect. We were thrilled to find such a great cabin that was pet friendly as well (including a fenced in back yard). Larry was fantastic and even came to the cabin and gave us several ideas for hikes and things to do in the area with our kids. We enjoyed the beautiful cabin, the seclusion, and our host. We also really appreciated all of the extras, like the pool table, books, DVDs, and board games. Our kids didn't have a single bored moment in four days. You can't go wrong with this property!
Great cabin! Unlike many cabins in Blue Ridge, Larry's place is tucked far enough into the woods to actually feel secluded from neighbors. Very dog friendly with a fenced in back yard. Close to waterfalls, hiking trails, and downtown blue ridge. We had a great time playing pool and air hockey in the lower level of the cabin and making s'mores in the fire pit out back. Overall, it was a great, clean place to stay!
Nice Larry helped us get our small camper parked near the cabin and left us to getting moved in.
During our stay he was always available for questions.
The cabin was everything we expected. A very nice quiet setting with town not far away.
About the Host, Larry
Cabin owner Larry Dumas, a retired Navy Chief and Orange Park FL firefighter, volunteers with the Benton-MacKaye Trail Association and is an avid hiker on both the Benton-MacKaye and the Appalachian Trail. I know all the area's best hiking trails and other local information. We built this cabin in the woods to be both away from the hustle and bustle of city life and near all the things we love to do including hiking, horseback riding, nature photography and just enjoying the great outdoors.
