I had a fine stay in Patty and Jean-François's little cottage in September of this year. The house is as-described and as seen in the photos. Everything works and the kitchen is well-equipped. Check-in and out were well-handled by the caretaker and communications were prompt and detailed by email.
This is a simple little cottage, but if peace and quiet and relaxation are what you're looking for, then this is the right place, and tremendous value.
It's also a great place to be if, like me, you're a walker. There are numerous signed footpaths (starting right outside the door in one case) and a number of loops through local oak and pine woods, as well as deep holloway tracks to nearby villages.
Worth knowing: there are no amenities in the village, but there is a restaurant in the next village, and nearby Cubjac has a full range of services (with Périgueux not far beyond).
We had a wonderfull time in the house! Was way larger then expected so that was a big plus, we didn't meet the owners but the contact with Maggi was fantastic! Price quality of this location was very good
Our stay at Patty and Jean-Francois' place was really memorable. The rustic house is very quaint and spacious. It is also very high tech for a countryside home with an electric stove, heater, tower fan, massage shower system and a heated towel rack. It was really quiet at night and the bedroom was quite dark so we had a good nights sleep every day.
The neighbors Maggie and Roland were also warm and friendly. They were extremely helpful with the tourist attractions and saw to everything we needed. We highly recommend this comfortable nook, especially for couples as a base to see the exciting attractions!
We are really glad you enjoyed your stay in our little cottage. It surely is a quiet village perfect for a peaceful vacation.
We would be delighted to have you as guests again if your travels take you to this part of the world.
Francois and Patty.
This was a lovely little house, with a courtyard to sit in for breakfast or after a days touring. The kitchen was so welcoming that we ate in most nights. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, including dishwasher and big fridge. The bed was very comfortable and big enough easily for two people. The bathroom was large and the shower worked well, providing hot water. The lounge area is full of charming old french furniture and ceramics and loads of books about the area. The hosts were very responsive via email and the local host was very attentive, ensuring all was good and working. When we arrived some food was in the fridge ready for us and a welcoming bottle of wine helped make us feel at home.
The house is not close to any large town, but this is charming too as the entourage of mobile homes is not on your doorstep, so we felt like we were out of the tourist route. We even saw a deer not far from the house.
I would highly recommend this house for anyone interested in a lovely house away from the tourist route, but near enough for day trips to loads of Perigord sites. Not to mention local markets. Also the wifi was top speed
World travelers who love to experience other cultures. We want to help our guests feel welcome, be comfortable and enjoy this beautiful region of France.
