In Luquillo you will find plenty to do during your stay here. This beach town is in the center of the many activities like beach festivals, surfing competitions, the annual "Festival de Platos Tipicos" where you can sample the many cooking recipes of Puerto Rico, floorshows and nightlife that take place in the lounges and casinos of the Wyndham El Conquistador and the Westin RioMar Resorts, both with 18 hole championship golf courses. There are several must visit places nearby; 'El Centro de Bellas Artes de Luquillo' with a museum of local 'artesanos' presents theater and musical events. We are sure you will enjoy a day visit to the El Yunque National Rain Forest where the views and nature trails will mesmerize you with the splendor of exquisite natural foliage. Make sure you take the trail to the Coca waterfall and wear shorts or a swim trunk so that you can take a plunge in the cool pristine water pond where the river downstream is born; you will never forget this one. The El Faro Lighthouse Museum and adjacent Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve (bioluminescent mangrove lagoon) and the above water boardwalk and nature trail walk are found a short 15 minutes drive on the scenic road that leads to Las Croabas in the neighboring town of Fajardo where you can take day trips by Ferry to Vieques and Culebra. At the foot of this same road you will find local fishermen selling their catch of the day and some are for hire and will take you out on day excursions to the many little isolated islands including Palomino Island, Cayo Icacos and others. Are you up to competing in Blue Marlin fishing? Here you will find marinas where you can book a one day trip and go out with the locals to the best areas for your prize winner Blue Marlin. If you like Thoroughbred horse racing you will find Hipodromo el Comandante on Highway 3 in the town of Canovanas.

THANKS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION!
This wonderful beach/oceanfront condo was exactly as described, in great condition with all the amenities we needed and more. It was our first time in Puerto Rico and how lovely this place was will play a role in us returning to PR again in the future.
This place is perfectly situated close to Luquillo Beach, El Yunque and the Kioskos with amazing food and grocery store nearby.
We LOVED the condo, location and overall town of Luquillo. We had envisioned spending most of our time driving back towards San Juan and the various surrounding neighborhoods, particularly for dinner, but spent most of our time closer Luquillo. Lots of great restaurants at the beach kiosks (La Parillo, Terruno and Peruvian Ceviche). Great breakfasts at Aroma and Erick Giros closer to "downtown". Heard great things about Pasta y Pueblo, but it was closed the night we went.
Maria was very responsive when we first reserved the unit and then I had to email her 3 times before our visit to alert her we had 2 additional guests. But, once we arrived, she and Jose couldn't have been more responsive and accessible. They stopped by one day with a box of Krispy Kremes.
The unit was nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. We loved waking up to the ocean view, sun and sounds. While you can't lounge by the water because the beach is too narrow, it's great for just swimming. There are beautiful beaches close by. We had seen a grill in a photo, but none existed when we arrived. Without a grill or oven, it's not a great place to do any major cooking.
There is some street noise including dogs and a rooster(s) early in the morning, but keeping the bedroom windows on the street side closed solved that problem. Between the ocean windows and overhead fans, it was comfortable 24x7.
Recommend this place and unit 150%. We can't wait to go back.
The apartment in Luquillo was well positioned. Only a few minutes drive to beaches, the rainforest, restaurants, and the grocery store. It is best if you rent a car. The space was beautiful, and we opened the french doors to the balcony every morning to let the ocean sounds and scent inside.
My family (five adults) were first-time visitors to Puerto Rico and the Luquillo area. This clean and neat beach front condo worked perfectly for what we needed. There are two average sized bedrooms and two full bathrooms (one medium size and one small). We had two adults sleep in each bedroom and one on the click-clack couch. From a size perspective the condo was very comfortable. The best part of the condo is the incredible view of the ocean and the patio table and chairs. The doors out to the patio open wide which brought in much fresh air. They have a full kitchen with all the equipment and utensils we needed. The condo includes a parking space in a secure parking lot. The neighborhood seemed very typical for the area: Wealth concentrated on the beach properties and poor off the beach. We felt safe in the neighborhood and although we didn't speak to the neighbors, they seemed friendly.
The condo is a five-minute drive from the entrance to El Yunque and about 15 minutes to Fajardo which is a larger town where you will find the Biobay, sailing, etc. There is a nice grocery store about 10 minutes away in Luquillo and very large supermarkets in Fajardo.
For restaurants, La Estacion in Fajardo is exceptional and is pricier and dressier (but still casual) than most other local restaurants. Another favorite was Ay Bonito Grill (Kiosk #21) which is a 5 minute drive from the condo toward Fajardo.
We spent one day sailing with Erin Go Bragh, a local sailing outfit. It was incredible and included 3+ hours of snorkeling in beautiful reefs near Fajardo. Would highly recommend this if you have the time.
Maria was very responsive to emails prior to our arrival. She and Jose met us at the condo when we arrived and gave us a quick orientation to the property. We texted with Jose a few times during our stay about local attractions, restaurants, etc and he was very helpful. Overall, Maria and Jose were very good hosts and welcoming. We would definitely return for another stay if we return to the Luquillo area.
Wow! Only begins to describe our experience at Maria's condo. The view is to die for! My husband & I were traveling to PR with our 2 young son's (one being autistic) & we could not have picked a better place. There is a beach out front but not one u can lay out & sun bathe. But if u walk in either direction u encounter so many different beaches. We had no car bc I drive a lot at home. So we would walk to Luquillo beach, the kiosks, we used our taxi from the airport Tomy to take us to the grocery store 2x & the spa at El Conquistador. My husband would walk to the bodega across the street if we needed anything & he made friends with the locals. The neighborhood is very rundown but the people r so nice! The condo was perfect for our small family with messy boys. Everything was very easy to clean, w/d, there were already sand toys & we left a few more. No oven but has a stove top & grill on the porch. Everything was clean & comfy we had an enjoyable 12 days & came home satisfied. The best thing about this apartment is the view but we r planning to come back next year & probably every year after that. I was thankful for the heavy & locked condo entrance & the locked gate to the beach bc of my oldest's son curiosity. Maria & her brother also stopped by mid way they our trip to welcome us & bring us a bag of gifts (toys, sangria, crafts etc) It was perfect! We will see u next year!!
It is a great place for a short vacation !! Maria is very accomadating ...
We had a great stay in Maria's Luquillo apt! I chose to stay there because all the books recommended the beaches of Luquillo, especially if you have kids. We came with our 5 year old daughter and indeed, the stay was excellent. The apartment is very roomy, fully equipped, with an amazing sea view and a balcony to enjoy it as well. There were a lot of towels, also for the beach and even a little cooler which came in handy for those beach days.
The apt is located in a somewhat deserted neighborhood, but if you have a car (which you must have anyway in PR, unless you spend all your vacation in San Juan....) there is no problem getting there, if you follow the email instructions ((website hidden) maps messes a lot in PR, be warned).
Maria was very helpful and kind, and even sent us a nice present for Christmas!!!
The best beach by far was Balneario beach, don't waste your time with the others!!!
