A beautiful one-hundred year old Richard Sharp Smith historic home in Montford neighborhood. 3 blocks from the center of town, 5-15 minute walk to everything. Hot tub, high speed wi-fi and cable tv, outdoor spaces for relaxation, gourmet kitchen.
This home is a quick 5 minute walk from the center of downtown. This historic neighborhood is peaceful, yet only a short walk to all the fun activities downtown. This is the calendar for the Green Room. Fantastic restaurants nearby, the Pritchard Park drum circle, the US Cellular Center, and St. Lawrence Basilica are only three blocks away. We are a 5 minute drive from UNCA.. You won't need to move your car once you are settled in, unless you decide to go to the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village, 10 minutes away. Easy access to the Blue Ridge parkway, NC Arboretum, Folk Art Center and much more!
This calendar reflects the reservations for the "Green Room". The Green room downstairs has a comfy queen size bed and shares the mauve bathroom right next to it. The Blue, room next to the Green Room, is available for instant book under "Victorian Cottage Montford Blueroom" and has one queen bed and a shares the mauve bathroom. A "roll-away" bed is available for one extra guest. All rooms have room air conditioners, high speed wi-fi and cable tv, access to outdoor hot tub (bring bathing suits!), fire pit, gas and charcoal grills. You may use the kitchen to cook if you wish, but I will provide teas, coffee and fresh pastries from my sister, Patricia's, bakery. There are some amazing places to eat within a 5-minute walk.
Interaction with Guests
Now that we have received "SuperHost" status, we will do everything to keep that honor. I have a really easy-going manner and love to laugh and have fun! Lots of nice people moving through, but yet a very mellow place. You are free to come and go as you please and basically just feel at home. I will be happy to help you with whatever your needs are, and I have a supply of maps and brochures and suggestions to make the most of your visit. I do teach afternoon music lessons (flute/voice/ piano) Monday - Thursday.
I love the beautiful old historic homes in this Montford neighborhood. My house dates from circa 1912, termed a "Victorian cottage", and built by Richard Sharp Smith. Many of the homes in the neighborhood date from the 1880's. This Victorian neighborhood was the first suburb of Asheville. It is very quiet and friendly. Lots of beautiful walking opportunities around the neighborhood.
We are happy to do shuttles to and from airport and around town if needed for a small fee. The city bus stops near the house, but the house is so conveniently located that you will hardly need the public transportation.
Other Things to Note
Please park on the Elizabeth side. Also, the day of your arrival, a general ETA is appreciated!
I have two small short-haired kitties, Sebastian and Sasha, real sweet and mellow. They stay outside most of the time and are never allowed in guest rooms for those who might be slightly allergic. I have had several guests stay who are allergic to cats and have had no adverse reactions.
LGBTQ and straight-friendly.
Hair dryer, iron and ironing board available upon request. outdoor hot tub, outdoor screen room, patio with pergola, outdoor fire pit, gas and charcoal grills, flower, herb and outdoor spaces for your pleasure.
Smoking outside only. No drugs, drinking ok if of age.
Our stay with Rita was absolutely wonderful! Jeff welcomed us with the smell of freshly moaned grass and a bright yellow sun. It really made the perfect entry to Asheville (which we immediately fell in love with :)) The house of Rita is really genuine and lovely. The vibes on the photos resemble the vibes in real, so that was really cool. Rita was very warm to us and we spent some time in the morning together with Rita and the other guests, so we learned about the history of the house and of Asheville. Rita gave us a loop on the map to explore Blue Ridge Parkway, and it was the perfect trip. Unfortunately we could not stay any longer but if we would revisit Asheville, we would definitely go back to Rita and Jeff too!
Great place to stay. The room is comfortable and the available common space is inviting. Nice to have coffee offered in the morning. Convenient to downtown. Friendly hosts.
We felt so welcomed and at home during our stay. Everything was just as described. We were welcomed by a friendly face and sweet little cat!
Rita was a fabulous host! The check in and check out process were extremely easy, and her home is very close to downtown Asheville. It was very easy to walk downtown just for dinner or to explore. I would definitely stay with Rita again.
We had a great time in Asheville the only regret is that we should of stayed longer. Its such a cool laid back area & lots to do.The room and was just as pictured and even had a TV.The bathroom and common areas were all good.Rita has it organized so that you have your own space in their fridge and bathroom to store things. We didn't get to sit outside or use the hot tub...but next (website hidden) and bagels, brownies, muffins there was lots to choose from for breakfast.Had a nice conversation with Jeff in the morning over coffee.Unfortunately we didn't get to talk with Rita much as we were both busy at the same time. The house is close to downtown. We walked back at night after checking out the local music scene at several places with no problem. Parking was easy just beside the house.Rita & Jeff were very hospitable, southern charm to us Canadians.
The host was very welcoming and gracious. This was my first experience staying with Air B & B and it surpassed my expectations. My room was very nice and all amenities were provided for. The location was great.
Rita was referred to us by some friends, and it really made Ashville feel like Ashville. The house is a gorgeous victorian/turn of the 19th century feel with all the modern conveniences. The breakfast was delicious and the advice on local activities was fun. Rita went out of her way to make us feel welcome there, even going so far as to invite us to hang out with her family (we couldn't that night but the invitation was well received.) At one point I needed to use the laundry room and she was just fine with letting me use it. Her cats are also psychotically cute and she herself has very interesting (website hidden) of being a local music teacher and performer in the Asheville area.

I am a professional musician. I teach private music lessons in my home and also do a lot of performing and am an adjunct professor of music. I love to travel, meet people and do fun things. I am proud of my town and am happy to help visitors find the best experience. I am really easy-going and have been renting rooms in my house for many years to people who need a place to stay for weeks, months or sometimes years. Guests will have a comfortable home away from home with easy flexibility within the house to come and go as you please. (must love music!)
