**I am offering a discount for the Whole Apartment if you are staying for a week or more during the period 05 -17 June**
My Apartment is on the first floor of a Traditional Edwardian Tenement. The flat is 'shabby chic', a bit scruffy around the edges but with bags of character. It retains many original features such as the Victorian range and Edwardian clothes pulley.
Your room is large with two sofas and an open fire. It has typical high ceiling, stripped wooden floor and large original sash & case windows.
The double bed is in a cosy alcove and there is an additional double bed on the platform above.
All Bed Linen is provided.
You have Free Unlimited WiFi, a TV, Digibox and DVD player.
The shared bathroom has a full length bathtub you can stretch out in, with an array of complementary bath products and candles. There is a new electric shower above the bath. Towels are provided.
Breakfast is included so you are welcome to help yourself to whatever I have in. Various teas, coffee and breakfast cereals are always available, along with fruit, yoghurt, bread and eggs. I am happy to chat over a coffee!
There is a washing machine you are welcome to use.
I am self-employed and my office space is at one end of the kitchen. So during the day I may need it to myself. You are of course welcome to pop in and make drinks, have breakfast and ask me questions etc.
The location is at the edge of Holyrood Park in a very quiet 'no through road'. There is a wee path at the end of the road that leads you to Arthur's Seat.
Although my road is quiet, I live in a busy student area with a choice of cafés, restaurants and takeaways, 2nd hand bookstores, pubs and theatres. The Royal Mile is within walking distance, with bars full of folk music and fine single malts.
The apartment is a 20 minute walk from the train station/airport bus stop, taxi around £5 or there are buses galore (the number 14 gets you the closest).
I have lived in Edinburgh for 20 years so I can provide lots of information about the city.
Please Note: Unless you are here over the weekend, parking is metered, or in a paying car park.
I prefer not to do check-ins after 8pm, if you want a later check-in please discuss this with me before booking.
Thank you for reading the whole listing! ;-)
The T.V. is not flat screen
There is no iPod docking station
There is no air-conditioning
There is no 'Elevator'
The cooker has to be lit with matches
The windows are over 100 years old so they are not double glazed.
The 'dryer' is an Edwardian Pulley or a washing line outside on fine days.
The fridge is three feet high, has only one door and doesn't dispense ice.
The bathroom is small because when these flats were built they had no bathrooms.
This is a low-carbon, low consumerist household.
What there is, is a warm welcome, plenty of food, an apartment with bags of character and a great location ;-)

fantastic location next to Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park; quirky beautiful flat; warm, kind, generous hostess; foodie heaven :-)
We very much enjoyed staying with Sally in Edinburgh. She was a great host and very helpful. The room is very comfy (especially the bed!) and the location is good, with everything in walking distance. Thanks Sally!
Great!! Sally is very friendly welcoming person. I felt like home and slept wonderful in that big soft princessbed;)
Sally's place is amazing.
Here's what I want to tell you —
As soon as you walk out the door of the apartment, you face the giant open face of the Arthur's Seat mountain. It's absolutely incredible that the 'park' is right in the middle of the city. I hiked it three times and found it to be the absolute best way to start a day.
The house is beautiful and Sally does a great job making the whole thing super convenient. She goes out of her way to make little things extra nice. At night, for example, she sleeps in a little bunk above the kitchen in the other room. So, in case you want to drink tea or coffee without disturbing her, you can use the extra water boiler & mugs & tea/coffee that she leaves in your common area.
She has tons of great breakfast stuff for you to use and cook with.
She's really fun and has great comedy recommendations if you're into that.
I highly highly recommend and want to stay with her again.
I had a very good time at Sally's place.
The room is huge, sunny, the bed is confortable and you'll find nice fresh and soft linen! It was hard to leave this bed in the morning. The street is really quiet, absolutely no noise! I really felt good there. Sally took breakfast with me, we chatted a bit and she ave me advices for the day. Very nice and natural breakfast. It was also a great pleasure, which is important to me (too many hosts forget the name of the site: air Bed & BREAKFAST!!). Sally is a humanist person, very attentive and welcoming. A lot of little but nice attentions wait for you in the room (guides, water, glass, tissues, etc...)
I highly recommend you to stay.
We had a wonderful stay in Sally's apartment. The room is quite well furnished with large comfortable sofas and 2 very cosy double beds, one above the other. My 3 yr old loved to climb up with his dad and sleep on top. Sally is a very warm and generous person and provided lots of info about getting around Edinburgh. When we were getting late for a tour, she even called a cab for us. Ditto for the day when we were leaving. Her breakfast options were splendid, she had farm fresh eggs, organic Yeo valley yoghurt (my fav), lovely bread, cereal, milk everything you would need. We really couldn't have asked for a better host. Thank you so much Sally for everything :)
If there was one thing my sister and I left Edinburgh wishing for, it was to have more time in the gorgeous city! We are so glad to have been able to stay in Sally's apartment as it was in a neat location and very easy to walk to and from. The apartment itself was cozy and comfortable, and Sally was the best airbnb host I've ever experienced - she provided amazing information for us! It was our first time in Edinburgh so it was much appreciated. We felt truly looked after and would recommend Sally's apartment in a heartbeat. We had a wonderful time, thanks again Sally!
We had a great stay in Sally's place! She is very welcoming and gave us wonderfull tips to enjoy our stay. The flat is well located and pleasant, go for it !
Although on the map the location does not look central you can walk to all the main attractions within 10 / 15 minutes.
Sally was an excellent host with great knowledge of the city. The room was very cosy with a great view of Arthur's seat.
I would highly recommend this room to anyone.
What a nice stay! Sally is a very open-minded, helpful, interesting person with a great sense of humour! The room is spacious with an extra heating in winter and very well equipped. Sally even provided special breakfast as I have to eat gluten-free. I enjoyed my stay there and couldn't have wished for something more! Whenever I come back to E'burgh I'll book in with Sally again! Thanks Sally :-D!!!
