It was a relaxing experience to stay at Melanie's cabin. It has a very good view of the Alps and good mountain walks near by. If you are looking for somewhere complete silence and peace, this is the place for you. Do note that the drive to the cabin can be a bit challenging if you are not a confident driver. The roads are quite narrow and steep but the views and fresh air is worth it. Thanks Melanie for hosting us!
Emilie and her husband (who built the cabin) received us and took our luggage up to the cabin (few hundred meters from the parking spot, nice walk in nature) very nice people, they live close in a farm and sell local products like cheese, eggs, bread, milk etc, which is useful because the place is relatively far from a supermarket, but don't let this discourage you because you would miss something really special. Amazing view from the cozy cabin, everything is clean and works properly. I counted 9 places to sleep in the 2 rooms available, 1 is a little attic with 4 simple beds with sleeping bags. In the morning clouds come in when you open the windows giving it a heavenly feel. We couldn't get enough of drinking the fresh mountain water straight from the tap. Lush dandelion and other herbs growing in the meadows all around the cabin. Beautiful waterfalls visible at the end of the valley. The only sound you hear sometimes are the swiss cow bells up in the mountains. Completely amazing.
Melanie was a fantastic host. She and her husband drove the whole family and all the bags up to the cottage (we don't have 4WD) when we arrived. It was very nice to buy meat, cheese, sausages and butter produced in the valley from her. She was overall very helpful! The place is just amazing! The view from the cabin is beyond description! Mountains covered with snow, meadows with flowers in front of the cabin and cows with bells around their necks everywhere. You really feel you are far away from everything! The cabin is very nice, but you have to understand that you don't have all the amenities you are used to. It is really clean and very cosy. The children loved to sleep "upstairs"! The whole family loved the place and we hope to be able to come back some time!
Atemberaubender Ausblick, wunderbar ruhig.
