About This Listing
This cozy bedroom is on the main floor of the house and has a very comfortable queen sized bed and an amoire to store your things in. The kitchen and bath are updated with beautiful tiles and quartz counter tops. In trendy NW 23rd ave neighborhood.
My home is a 1920's style bungalow in NW Portland's Nob Hill neighborhood. While here, you can share the comfortable living room or retreat to your own room for a well deserved rest. The kitchen is available if you would like to cook but I find most people end up sampling all the great restaurants and eateries close by. Your room is next to the bathroom and kitchen and has a comfortable queen bed and an amoire to hold your belongings.
One thing to note; When there is another guest in the other airbnb room the bathroom will be shared but it seems to work out just fine.
I look forward to meeting many new guests and sharing my home with them.
Shared common spaces are a newly remodeled kitchen and bathroom, dining area and living room. In the nice weather I have a little side porch with table and chairs for morning coffee.
Interaction with Guests
You will have as much privacy as you would like. I usually check in with you to make sure you are comfortable and then you are on your own unless you need me. I am happy to offer recommendations for local sites and help with navigating the area if you need it.
Near the NW 23rd district's hip coffee shops and upscale boutiques and restaurants.
The trendy Pearl shopping district and art galleries is blocks away and
Some of the best Portland parks biking and hiking trails are easily accessible as well. Forest Park and Macleay Park, and Washington Park are nearby for hiking and biking
Wallace Park with a public tennis court is across the street and we are not far from Portland's Chinese Garden, Rose Test Garden, Japanese Garden, and Powell's bookstore. Our local health food store, library and local businesses are all easy walking distance
We are close in to the city in a central location with great access to the freeways and public transportation. It is a 20-30 minute taxi or Uber ride from the PDX airport. You can ride the MAX train in from the airport and transfer to bus #77 to a stop just a few blocks away from the house.
Other Things to Note
Parking is on street if you have a car. We are close to public transportation and while here in this neighborhood you probably won't need to drive. There is a bin in the fridge to keep food and a shelf in the pantry if you want to cook while here.
We have a great kitchen and love to share the space but expect all dishes to be washed and the counter tops cleaned off when finished cooking. Kitchen closes at 10:00 pm so other household members can get some sleep.
Please keep all food and drink in the dining kitchen areas and not in the bedroom
No late night partying here since this is an early to bed household
No smoking of any kind on the premises
No illegal drugs
No pets allowed due to allergies
The room in this NW Nob Hill Home was just what I had hoped for! The location was ideal for walking around the NW 23rd and Vaughn area, with over 100 restaurants within walking distance, several great little markets for groceries, and access to Forest Park's trails a couple of blocks from the house.
Alleyn was very welcoming, letting me store my suitcase and cooler in my room earlier than check-in so I could take the bus to the Convention Center for the opening events of a conference I attended while staying in Portland. The bus, a 5 min walk from the house, ran every 30 min, and only took 25 min to get to the Convention Center! This was much easier than driving and finding expensive parking every day that week. It felt safe to walk alone and ride the bus. I would do this again if I'm ever lucky enough to go to a convention in Portland in the future!
Alleyn provided refrigerator and pantry space and a beautiful well appointed kitchen. Though I only prepped breakfast and sack lunches it had much more potential if you didn't want to eat at one of the many wonderful restaurants in the area. I sat on a cute little patio to eat my breakfast in the cool mornings before heading off to the Convention Center.
I stayed in the bedroom on the main floor. It was very quiet and had a fan and air conditioner that worked well in the unusual 100 degree days we had that week. I shared a bathroom with one other guest, but it was always clean and sharing was not ever a problem. The double bed was super comfortable and there was plenty of storage space for personal belongings. There were thoughtful touches to the bedroom such as easy to reach reading light switch, open plugs for charging things, a small fan next to the bed so the big one didn't need to be on all night, lots of hooks for towels and clothes, coasters for water glasses, all sizes and firmness of pillows, different weights of bed covers, etc...
I can't say enough about how perfect both Alleyn, the room, and the neighborhood were! I will be back for sure!
My stay at Alleyn's home was very enjoyable. She is a friendly, helpful, and welcoming host with practical tips about the city. It was easy and convenient to catch the bus or light rail and there are many shops and restaurants within walking distance. My room was cozy, clean, and nicely furnished -- very relaxing and homey. All in all - a great time in Portland!
Alleyn was an incredible host. The place is adorable and clean. It feels like home when you are there because Alleyn has the motherly instinct to help with anything you need. We absolutely loved the neighborhood too. It is so close to restaurants, shops and forest park for a beautiful trail to hike. It is super easy to get to the city on the street car as well.
Alleyn warmly welcomed us into her beautiful home. Located in a great Portland neighborhood, the house was a perfect base for exploring the city's many sites. We enjoyed being able to walk to most places on our bucket list. The house is clean, well-decorated, and quiet.
Alleyn is a gem. She was super welcoming, thoughtful and helpful throughout our stay. Would totally recommend to stay at her place. We slept in the bedroom on the first floor. It was super comfy. We had a shared bathroom that was easy to share. The location is excellent and parking in ample on the street. You can get to any neighborhood in just a short drive or train ride. We ended up driving to the pearl district and parking was surprisingly easy (we are from Manhattan though). Walking was 20 minutes and the train back was 10 minutes and very easy.
Alleyn was a wonderful host! Her place was walking distance to a lot of awesome shops and restaurants. Wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you Alleyn!
Very welcoming host. Cute small bedroom in highly desired NW neighborhood.

About the Host, Alleyn
I live in the NW district close to the center of town because it is easily accessible from almost anywhere in Portland. About 20 minutes from the airport. My great grandparents built homes in this neighborhood when it was first being developed and I have always loved this section of town. I moved to my present home in the Nob Hill district about 14 years ago.
I was an interior designer for many years and I also teach watercolor at the local community center.
I can't live without the ocean and the mountains each an hour and a half drive from here. I love the beautiful Columbia Gorge (1/2 hour) and hiking in Forest Park (minutes away).
I enjoy people from all walks of life and love to travel when given the chance.
