Here at "The Historic Hartman House," you can step back in time in our Victorian, country farm setting and stay in our Carriage House. Harvest fresh fruit and veggies of the season to enjoy in your own kitchen, commune with the farm animals, take a private yoga class, schedule a massage in town...wander, relax, unwind and discover Historic Boulder Creek!

The space
We are a licensed and permitted vacation rental by the County of Santa Cruz Certificate #CO00156.

Just one block from the historic town of Boulder Creek in the heart of California’s coastal redwood forest, "The Historic Hartman House" offers a Cottage that is the perfect place for your dream vacation! The Hartman House property is featured in "Historic Homes of Boulder Creek."

The Carriage House (sleeps up to 6 adults/ 1 QUEEN + 2 FULL sized sofa sleepers) has an open floor plan (see photo #2 for proximity of bedroom area to LR). It is perfect for families or couples traveling on a budget as it allows your whole group to share a space. You will find the Carriage House located at the rear of our Victorian "micro-farm" through our heirloom fruit orchard and organic vegetable garden. In addition, there is a great meadow/ lawn area for play or simply relaxing under the fruit trees. There is also RV and off street parking and private access to this cottage at the rear of the property for ease.

The Carriage House has a spacious kitchen, large plank wood floors, and a wood burning stove (in addition to automatic gas heat). For those who want a little more luxury and amenities than the average vacation rental, this is the cottage for you! We offer bath products for our spacious shower and every thing you need to live comfortably (including some delightful teas). We even do your linens for you when you leave! All you need to do is bring your clothes, toothbrush and toothpaste...we'll take care of the rest!

Historic Down Town Boulder Creek is only one block away where you will find many fine restaurants, cafes, antique shops and clothing stores. Book yourself a spa treatment after a fine dining experience, retire to your cottage for a glass of wine and awake refreshed for a walk through Big Basin State Park, where the redwoods grow to 350 feet! On cool nights, snuggle up in front of our wood burning stove with a magnificent glass of local wine. Wine tasting, antique hunting, beach combing, and a wealth of outdoor activities—Santa Cruz County has much to offer.

Whether you stay right here in the San Lorenzo Valley or venture to the nearby cities of Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Jose or San Francisco, consider us your home away from home. Boulder Creek is a great place to stay to day trip all over the Bay Area!

**** Note: Santa Cruz County requires us to collect 11% tax on the room rate. This only applies to nightly reservations less than one month. Taxes will be charged in your reservation and paid the County through Airbnb.

**** We do not allow pets (please do not ask)
**** We have a TWO night minimum (no exceptions)
**** We can ONLY host 6 people or less on our permit (no exceptions per the County)

Guest access
Guests have access to our organic veggie garden and fruit of the season at the rear half of our half acre property...if you can beat the squirrels to it!

Other things to note
We have tons of events and festivals in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Anything from music to parades to holiday events. Ask us for a schedule of events happening in our area!

We love the close proximity of restaurants and little shops to explore within a block, while enjoying a country setting. It's truly a old fashioned small town experience! Being surrounded by State Parks (from the mountains to the beach) is a perk too!

Hi! My name is Tamara and I love to experience new places and explore places that are "off the beaten path" or are favorites of the locals. I am particularly interested in historic towns and sites as well as open space preserves and parks. By profession I am a principal in a Landscape Architecture firm ( (Website hidden by Airbnb) In my "previous life" I was a Veterinary Nurse and spent some time restoring historic homes. I currently reside in a historic town in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where I have a spacious property with Victorian Guest Cottages that I share with travelers. I grow most of my own organic heirloom vegetables on the property and love to share gardening tips! What is it like to have me as a host? I've been told that coming to my property is like stepping back in time and is the perfect place to rejuvenate the spirit. Guests have also appreciated having their own cottage and the privacy that comes with it. Because I am very involved in my community, I can also give lots of tips on where to go and what to do depending on the desires of the guest.

During your stay
We want our guests to enjoy privacy as much as possible. We tend to keep to the front half of the property where the main house is. However, the guest may see us working in the veggie garden or caring for our farm pets. But we are SUPER social people and invite guests to come chat and visit with us!
