Beautiful, Sunny, Private, Spacious Bedroom in a 1918 Montecito Carriage House. I've been renting rooms off and on for 10 yrs. and love meeting interesting people.
216 sq ft. with private master bathroom and bath. Sorry no pets.
This an 1918 carriage house. This bedroom is a lovely, sunny room in my house along with a few other quiet rentals.
This is a quiet space, not a party space.
It is close to all that Santa Barbara has to offer and is a retreat after a long day of exersize, sight seeing, shopping or whatever you have come to S.B. to do.
Private entrance to come and go as you please. The room is on the 2nd floor accessible by stairs only. Private off street parking.
Pool area for sitting in the sun or swimming in warmer weather. It is not heated.
Walks right outside your door up to Hot Springs, Cold Springs Trail or just around this area- they are all beautiful.
I will greet you and help with any adjustments or hints on fun ideas and then you are on your own. You can always call me if you need anything otherwise I give you your privacy.
You have a small kitchenette set up in your room and use of the one sown hallway and a fridge in the hall shared with other tenants.
A Rock walled neighborhood. You wake up to the birds chirping. Other people live here so you may hear voices and doors and normal house noises, but it is serene for the most part.
You will need a car. The bus runs seldom in this area. I think it is 2 times a day- morning and evening and that is a 15 minute walk to it.
Near Santa Ynez for wine tasting-45 min., surf spots- 10 min., hiking trails- walking, Ojai- 30 min.,
Carpenteria, Summerland for antiquing. S.B. town is 10 min. Beach is 5 min.

Rita and her husband are wonderful hosts and their Montecito property and grounds are gorgeous. The accommodations are very comfy and classic - including a claw foot tub (there's also a separate shower). I think the mattress is a Tempurpedic - form fitting and comfortable, the sheets and towels were all very good quality, etc. This is a little slice of Old World style in the hills above Santa Barbara. My only other comment is that this is an older property and a bit rustic. For me it was perfect; the W Hotel crowd may prefer something else.
Thanks for feedback, I love that gave it and I agree with everything you say.
I don't want people coming to us and expecting a modern abode. It was hand built from Sand Stones from the Property by imported Italian Stone Mason's, in 1918. It has been well taken care of and that is the character I mean to project. It's excellent for the price and we love having people in our home.
Old houses never have enough outlets so I have an electrician here adding outlets as I write. 2 reading lights above headboard, plugs for laptop and cell phones and a plug for TV other than the one to turn off all lights and thus TV.
I appreciate feedback and will continue to improve the spaces I offer.
Thanks and I hope your Mom foud the perfect place for her. Rita

Have you ever been to Montecito? All those gates, The high walls. They say keep out. And the beauty and blessed by perfection homes and land and gardens behind them remain hidden. And exclusive. And not for you to see. And certainly not for you to wander around in and feel a part of and feel welcome. Or lounge by the pool with your choice of freshly plucked citrus from the garden in your drink.
Except here. In a staggeringly lovely historic carriage house. Snuggled into rocks and water and big oaks in the hills in the heart of Montecito is an absolute rarity of a house, and perhaps more importantly, a family that opens up and lets you in. You will likely meet Rita. This is her home and she is sparkling with life and genuine and happy and we are lucky that she likes to share her goodness with the world.
We are lucky that there are people like her that let people behind the walls and the gates.
And yes. The room was perfect. Even the curtains are high thread count.
I just got back into renting through airbnb and John was the first to stay.
John is someone that greets you with a hug not a handshake. I was the lucky one to have him stay here and even eventually come again. We shared laughs and even some jokes about our obsessive neatness in laying out our things. I got to know him and I think he lets people in and getting to know him is one of his charms. You don't become friends with everyone you meet but this guy is a friend.
John, I am hoping you come back with your family soon. My babysitting skills are pretty good so I hear.
