Smoky Mountain High Chalet is tucked cozily away high atop Ski Mountain in the Chalet Village community of Gatlinburg. This large, one bedroom chalet is less than 3 miles from downtown Gatlinburg and borders the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
From the moment you arrive at this lovely chalet, a rustic, romantic atmosphere will surround you. Enjoy preparing meals in the fully equipped kitchen. The living area is a wonderful place to spend time as you snuggle up by the stone gas fireplace on the leather sofa or comfy recliner and enjoy a DVD on the Blue-ray player from our collection, a movie via Netflix, or your favorite TV show on the 50 inch flat screen TV. The main level also features a game room with a full size pool table and game table. Games, playing cards and puzzles are provided for your convenience. Relax and enjoy the beautiful views as you sit out on the upper deck from the rocking chairs or the porch swing. The lower level provides a romantic setting for two: Watch your favorite movies from the comfortable king size log canopy bed on the 40 inch flat screen TV above a second cozy gas fireplace. A private area with Jacuzzi tub is just off the bedroom, as well as a large master bath with an over sized shower. There is a lower deck off the bedroom area where you will enjoy spending time in a large inviting hot tub while enjoying the lights of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge by night and the aerial tram and beautiful mountain views by day.
You can plan a private cookout for two on the park-style charcoal grill located near the entry of the chalet or prepare your dinner inside on the George Foreman Grill on those cold winter nights. If you choose to go out for dinner, you will find excellent dining choices just a few miles down the mountain in downtown Gatlinburg or at Ober Gatlinburg. You may choose to drive a very short distance and park at Ober Gatlinburg and ride the Aerial Tram down the mountain to dine or shop in the many unique shops downtown. As a member of Chalet Village Owner's Club please use our membership card provided for access to three club houses on the mountain, each with pools, recreational areas and exercise equipment. This card also offers discounts at numerous attractions and restaurants in the Gatlinburg Area. Please comply with our no pet policy and remember that this is a smoke free chalet.
Smoky Mountain High Chalet will prove to be a perfect location for your Smoky Mountain vacation!
Our guests have private access to all of the chalet amenities listed as well as privileges offered at three Chalet Village Owner's Club locations including pools, tennis courts, exercise equipment and game rooms. Travelers also have access to all areas of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park including more than 80 hiking trails, numerous picnic areas and various seasonal programs and presentations offered free to visitors to the park by park rangers.
Interaction with Guests
Since this is a private chalet and we will not be meeting our guests in person, we enjoy the personal touch we can offer guests via email, texts and phone conversations. It is important to us to be available to answer any questions travelers might have about the area before and during their stay. Because we are so familiar with Gatlinburg, the national park, the hiking trails and the many attractions in the area, we enjoy helping travelers with their plans when needed and making new acquaintances.
We quickly decided that the Chalet Village community on Ski Mountain was the place for us with its unique Bavarian flair and quaint chalets scattered across the mountainside! Of even greater importance was the close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our front door is located less than twenty steps from the park boundary and is within walking distance to one of the many beautiful trails open to visitors of the park. We immediately fell in love with the beautiful views from both the upper and lower covered porches of the chalet especially when the Ober Gatlinburg tram passed by with screams of excitement as passengers topped the highest tower! In the other direction through the park forest we can view the three distinct towering peaks of Mt. LeConte! We truly have a panoramic view! We enjoy the abundance of wildlife that is literally in our backyard and often delight in seeing mother bear and cubs passing through on their daily rounds to and from the park. There was never a doubt in our minds that this was the perfect getaway location! This truly is our 'Smoky Mountain High'!
Gatlinburg is one of the busiest tourist towns in the nation especially during the peak touring seasons of summer and winter. Luckily Gatlinburg offers several helpful solutions: Many visitors turn to Gatlinburg's famous trolley system to get around to their favorite destinations. There are several lines that shuttle visitors to and from over 100 sites in the city. These trolleys also serve Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. They are inexpensive and an all day trolley pass can be the best choice to get the most out of your excursions. A map of the various trolley lines has been placed in a visitor's information guide in the chalet for your convenience. There are also several rental car companies in the area if having your own personal transportation is a must. Because the chalet is located very near Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park, you may choose to drive the short distance and hop on the Aerial Tramway that will take you on an extraordinarily scenic ride to and from Gatlinburg! Your ticket is valid for two days of unlimited rides.
Other Things to Note
We strive to include everything that our guests could desire at Smoky Mountain High Chalet. Sitting high atop the ridge, it offers views of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Tram to the north and the majestic towering Mt LeConte through the bordering National Park to the east and south. We provide a detailed notebook for your convenience and brochures describing the many activities in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park available during your stay.
The chalet is a smoke free environment. Pets are not allowed. Our detailed Visitor's Information Guide will be useful in familiarizing yourself with the polices, rules and directions you will need to know to make your stay more enjoyable. There is signage posted throughout the chalet with directions for operating house features and equipment.
We had an amazing time in the chalet. Absolutely beautiful views. The accommodations were wonderful! We got the pleasure of meeting Paula and she is very nice! We would come back here in a heartbeat.
My girlfriend and I booked Paula's chalet for a get away weekend and celebration of my birthday. The experience was absolutely perfect. We couldn't have asked for a more accommodating and helpful host. Paula was very quick to respond and made herself available if it was needed while also giving us our space and allowing us to feel like we were home away from home. The house was beautiful and had everything you could possibly think of while on a trip. She even left a birthday card and bottle of wine for us. The views are breathtaking, the hot tub was so relaxing, weather was perfect....I honestly can't stop thinking about our weekend and wishing we were still there. We definitely plan on coming back. Only negative was that the house was so amazing we didn't want to leave and didn't end up going to the strip until we had packed up and left the house, which was fine with us. Pool table was a nice touch too. We had lots of fun. I could go on all day, but I will stop now. :)
My boyfriend and I spent our anniversary weekend at Paula's chalet and it was wonderful! The place is absolutely beautiful and the pictures don't even do it justice. We wanted to just relax all weekend and the chalet was the perfect place for that with the fireplaces, the hot tub, the games and puzzles, and all the little touches all around the place! Paula and Keith were wonderful hosts and we will definitely be back to stay here again whenever we are in Gatlinburg!!
Paula's chalet was better than anything we could have asked for. It was a perfect little getaway for my husband and I. Everything was exactly (if not better) than described. Her instructions and notes around the cabin were so helpful and left us with absolutely no questions or wonder! Loved the cabin location as well. We will absolutely be staying here again in the future. Paula was an awesome host!
I booked Paula's Chalet for my boyfriend's birthday and I don't even know where to begin. Paula is beyond amazing as a host. Paula was very helpful and always available via text to help with any questions or problems we had, but was never intrusive. Her chalet is exactly how it appears in the picures, only bigger and more beautiful. the view from the front and back porch is great. It was during the holiday season and a beautiful christmas tree and decorations welcomed us when we arrived. Paula knew it was my BF's birthday and left him a card and a nice bottle of wine in the fridge with a birthday wish note attached. It was a perfect touch. The chocolates on the pillow were just an added treat. I have NOTHING negative to stay about our stay. The chalet is stocked with everything one would need. The kitchen had EVERY utensil i could have asked for. All I had to do was bring the groceries. plates, dish ware, cookware, even baking ware was in the kitchen. I love how there were little notes around the house to answer questions you didn't even think to ask. The visitor guide she has also answers questions you didn't even think to ask. I could go on and on. All I can say is BOOK THIS CHALET. It was a perfect romantic getaway. We got there on Friday and Didn't leave until Sunday morning. We used the indoor jacuzzi, and loved every second. The electronic candles next to the tub, made it that much more special. I really enjoyed Paula's Chalet. Located at the TIP TIP TIP TIP top of a mountain, getting to the chalet was an adventure, only because we arrived at night, and it was difficult to see. but paula gave PERFECT instructions on how to get there, so that was never a problem. But thank you thank you thank you. We loved our stay!
What a delightful experience it was to host RurhAshley and Michael! They were both awesome guests who were very respectful of our property and very complimentary and encouraging in their feedback about the chalet. RuthAshely is a very sweet girl and I so enjoyed our communication via texts and emails as she was planning the surprise trip for Michael for his birthday! I feel as though I have two new friends and I hope we will hear from them again if they plan antiher trip to the Smokies!
We had a wonderful stay in Paula and Keith's chalet. It is extremely well equipped and very comfortable, from the enormous bed to the bathroom and comfy chairs all over the house. It was a lovely place to come back to after a day exploring the sometimes bustling Smokies. Paula could not have been more welcoming or helpful. We were fine accessing the chalet, but do heed the warnings about the steep roads! Overall, we would not hesitate to recommend - and hope to return.
Paula's chalet was an excellent choice for our relaxing vacation in Gatlinburg! The chalet was very clean and tastefully decorated, with a comfortable bed (not too soft or too hard). The kitchen had enough pots, pans, and cooking tools to make meals, and there were small appliances in the kitchen as well, including 2 coffee makers (drip and Keurig), a toaster, etc. The washer/dryer located in the chalet would be a big plus for longer trips.
The hot tub was clean and well-maintaned, as was the large jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The porch had a mountain forest overlook, and a pretty view. The porch was not screened in, so bugs can be a problem at certain times of day/year.
The location was about a 10-15 minute drive into downtown Gatlinburg. The drive to the chalet was up a mountain road, which was mostly manageable with our sedan (in July). If there's any snow or ice, you would absolutely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Our GPS took us along the back roads up the mountain, which were narrower, steeper, and scarier than the directions Paula gave. Paula's directions and information about the chalet were very clear, detailed, and helpful. Access to the chalet was very straightforward (coded lockbox with key).
After growing up in the Spartanburg/Greenville area of SC, I married my high school sweetheart and moved to Knoxville, TN. My husband began his career as an electrical engineer with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and I as an elementary school teacher in the Knox County School System. We raised our three children (who are all University of Tennessee graduates) in Knoxville and are now enjoying our new role as grandparents! We love hiking in the Smoky Mountains and enjoying the beautiful views. Our family also loves spending time together on the lake. We enjoy meeting new people and consider it an honor to share the beauty of the Smokies with our guests!
