You'll be living in a traditional 1956 desert farmhouse on two acres of land with fun vintage furniture and design. Watch the sunset from the porch or the super cute sunroom. The house includes great outdoor space for drinking your morning coffee.
The neighborhood includes one neighbor and a lot of pristine desert and dirt roads. The house itself is also on a dirt road. If you prefer to avoid dirt roads you can take SunFair around to Broadway, these roads are paved and it just takes about 7 extra minutes. It's totally safe so don't be scared because it gets dark in the desert! You may hear a few coyotes howling or critters crawling around at night. My neighbors have dogs that will bark once in a while. These dogs are friendly and always fenced in. They tend to bark more when renters have a dog with them so don't be alarmed. They keep the neighborhood safe! There is also a well at the corner of the 2 acre property that looks like r2d2. Once in a while (especially at night) it turns on and when you are outside you can here the generator. From inside you hear nothing.
In the summer please watch your step when walking around the property for snakes and scorpions. You may even encounter a few insects in the house. This especially happens when doors are left open at night and there's a light on inside. Most of these insects are harmless even if they look like aliens but please watch out for rattlesnakes, scorpions, black widows, and brown recluse spiders, none of which I have seen this year on the property.
In the winter it gets cold so be sure to bring lots of wood for the very romantic fireplace.
You will have access to Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets for live music in close by Pioneer Town, Joshua Tree Saloon, The Integratron, 29 Palms Inn, Crossroads for coffee and food, groovy thrift and antique stores...just to name a few.
Interaction with Guests
Not much guest interaction except for an email or text to make sure everything is going well!

There is no public transportation.
Other Things to Note
The house is located on a dirt road in the rural desert.
Please no smoking in the house. Please do not wade in the pond/fountain it is for the animals to drink out of not the humans to swim in ;) if you are hot and outside please rinse off in the outdoor shower.
I have a Brita Filter in the fridge, if you can minimize the plastic bottle usage that would make the earth and me very happy...
This was a wonderful visit to the desert for an east coast girl. This vintage property was exactly as pictured. Tamara was very helpful and we had a wonderful time. Especially liked the bird life surrounding this house....with hummingbirds flitting about and a desert wren nesting in a big choizo cactus. 1st week of April is a perfect time to visit Joshua Tree and this house was very near the park entrance so that we could make long day hikes....... and return home easily to a nice hot shower and a homecooked meal. Would visit again. Thanks
Tamara's Vintage Desert Farmhouse is wonderful - a perfect little desert oasis close to Joshua Tree National Park. Our family of four (two kids, 8 and 10 years) felt totally at home there (and slept great in the comfortable beds - something you don't always find in short-term rentals!). We stayed for four nights, and wished we could have stayed longer. Tamara's place is outfitted with everything you need and nothing you don't. It isn't fussy - if you're used to "high-end" accommodations, this may not be the place for you. Overall we loved it and would return or recommend to friends in a heartbeat. Thanks for the fun, Tamara!
The Vintage Desert Farmhouse is a oasis. It is a lovely space, thoughtfully outfitted with everything you need to relax in the desert. We spent a week there, and it was really hard to leave at the end. We especially enjoyed the sunroom in the morning, the fire pit on cool nights, and using the small grill to make dinner as the sun went down. Tamara is a thoughtful and generous host, and she has created a wonderful place to stay.
Overall experience was great. Place was cute/vibe was good. The sunroom was a great hang out place and the outdoor area/firepit was a relaxing way to spend the weekend. No problems finding the place or getting in.
Tamara was a very responsive host, including when we locked ourselves out of the house early in the morning! The house was adorable and as advertised, the only thing I would point out is that the twin bed bedroom is adjacent to the living room & there is an open space at the top of the wall between them, so people trying to sleep in that bedroom will hear everything going on in the living room. The other bedroom is lovely--possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in--but again, given that it shares a wall with the other bedroom, & the bathroom is in between the two, it is not very private. If you have the same sleep schedule as everyone you're traveling with this will be no problem, but if someone likes to sleep in and others don't, I recommend good ear plugs! Overall though I loved the house, found it very clean, cozy, and pleasant!
We had a great time at the Vintage Desert Farmhouse. Everything was exactly as Tamara described. We especially loved the sunroom. We sat out there and painted and played guitar and banjo, it was delightful. The beds are very comfy and all of the vintage furnishings were great.
The location is very close to downtown Joshua Tree and we were able to pop out and get pizza from Pie for the People, eat breakfast at Crossroads Cafe, go to Joshua Tree National Park and then come back to the house and relax with minimal driving time.
Tamara is delightful! Wonderful to communicate with and her instructions were so easy to understand. I would definitely recommend the Vintage Desert Farmhouse!
We very much enjoyed Tamara's Vintage Desert Farmhouse. It's a perfect location, close to Joshua Tree. The house is comfortable with unique vintage furnishings. It rained while we were in town, so we made good use of the wood burning stove. Tamara responded quickly to all my questions. I definitely recommend staying here!
