We stayed at the Donkey Den in Manta for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. The studio we rented was super spacious with our own well equipped kitchen and a very spacious bathroom as well. The accommodation was clean and welcoming when we arrived and we soon got to know all the lovely volunteers who work and stay at the Donkey Den. This place is situated right on the beach and is great for running/walking/swimming and having great bond fire evenings!
We had a very nice time there. The only thing to note is that there is quite a large expat community in Manta and they all come to have breakfast on Sundays (around 40-60 people) so the place gets quite busy! We really enjoyed hanging out with the volunteers and had a great time there! Thanks to the Donkey Den!
Linda, Cheryl and the whole team went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We stayed in Barney and Bailey which were incredibly spacious and clean - and included a full kitchen (with machines we don't even have at home), living room area, AC, WIFI, directv and every amenity to make you feel comfortable.
The location of the guest house is wonderful because it is quiet and steps away from the sand as well as local seafood restaurants. The Donkey Den also offers daily breakfast which is fresh, absolutely delicious and very affordable.
Linda graciously picked us up from the airport and brought us into town (Manta, 20min away) several times which was wonderful. We stayed for a month and were really sad to leave.
Thank you all for a wonderful and unforgettable vacation.
Our stay at the Donkey Den was everything we hoped it would be. It was the perfect spot to explore Ecuador's beaches. Linda was more than a hostess... she adopted us! She helped us understand Ecuadorian culture and gave us every opportunity to see daily life with both Ecuadorians and ExPats, making friends every day. All of Donkey Den's crew were so helpful, friendly, sincere and fun. Studio Barney was spacious, clean and comfortable. We cannot wait until our next trip to see them all again!

My family and I spend several wonderful days at Linda's place. We rent several rooms and the accommodation for all of us was so easy. The beach was so close and pretty. The great communication made our stay possible.
Wonderful, beautiful, relaxing, exciting, friendly....Linda is a wonderful hostess. She took us to "Gringo Night" in Manta where we met expat Americans and Canadians now living there. Had a lot of fun with the other guests and now have new friends. Loved the communal breakfasts and dinners, walks on the beach with the dogs...especially the two pups, Holly and Molly. Found the Ecuadorans to be a happy and friendly people. Cannot wait to go back.
Lovely studio apartment with views of the beach. Linda is very kind and thoughtful. She picked us up at the airport and even took us to the supermarket to pick up some groceries. There was an ever changing group of work volunteers on site that were cheerful and pleasant to chat with. We both love animals but 4 cats and 4 dogs in a small property is a bit much.
Linda is a fabulous host! Nothing is too much trouble and she does everything she can to ensure your stay is the best it can be. She seems to know all of the ex-pats in the area and includes her guests in all of the ex-pat activities they would like to be part of. They are truly a diverse very fun group.
Her apartments are very spacious, comfortably furnished and just steps from the ocean. There is nothing better than falling asleep to the sound of breaking ocean waves at the end of a day of exploration and adventure.
We had a wonderful time at this little gem of a place at Santa Marienita.
