Address：No. 6 DengCao Hutong, Dongcheng District, Beijing, China
Living in a 600+ year courtyard yet refurbished with amenities was definitely a good experience for us first timers in china.
The location was good too.
The bathroom could have been cleaner. There were mosquitoes that were smacked dead on the wall, I'm guessing that was from last summer.
We were a group of 6 staying in a 8 people's dorm, beds and all were comfortable. The hot water system wasn't enough for us 6, can't imagine for 8, maybe because it's during winter.
However the hosts advised us to use the outside communal bathroom as well which was good.
We had a great time, unfortunately never got to meet Daniel but the staff were very friendly. Thanks!
It was really great! My family got a happy time at Fly By Knight Courtyard in Beijing. Especailly, it's located in the center of downtown. So, we can move anywhere easily. But if you wanna stay in clean surroundings, you are maybe unsatisfied with. Except for this, My familly felt gooood! Xiexie!
We had a great stay at FBK. It was convenient to subway and Daniel sent us very helpful directions in advance on how to find the hostel. It's in a beautiful, historic hutong and walking to and from the hostel each day let us see a little into how real locals live (vs. being isolated from real life in a hotel). We were greeted by friendly staff who were very helpful throughout our stay. And the building is amazing -- really beautiful. As far as the room -- it's a hostel, so is rough around the edges. But the room was clean and there was basic daily upkeep like removing trash. And the beds were very comfortable. The common area had all the basic necessities you would need (internet, bottled water, a tea kettle, etc.) and some other drinks and snacks. We learned there's also a kung fu class offered by Daniel on Sunday afternoons, although it was cancelled the Sunday we were there. All in all, this was a great place and an inexpensive option for staying near the city center in a beautiful environment.
As others have stated finding this place is a bit difficult as you have to walk down a long alley. However, there are people who are willing to help as long as you have the address in Chinese for them to read.
Once I got there though I was very impressed. Comfortable beds to sleep in, clean beds, and the staff made breakfast for my friends and I in the morning. They also speak English and are helpful in pointing out cool places around the area.
As an added surprise the courtyard was being used as a set for a film, I hope it does well!
It is difficult to find the place, our driver had to call the hostel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I learned new techniques while watching them play Chinese chess during our stay. The common area is warm, comfortable and is a great place to relax in after a long day touring the city.
The general location is good. The hostel is just a 15-minute walk away from Wang Fu Jing shopping street. There's also an interesting music store nearby with a great selection of CDs.
As we arrived after a long night fly, we expected to find a comfortable room and not a fridge. After the first night, we started considering to find an other place where to stay, because of the poor heating, especially for the bathroom. After a full day of heater switched on, we finally found the right temperature. Overall for the price spent the service is enough.
Breakfast included is sufficient for a fast start. The hostel is close to subway to main touristic areas. Hosts are friendly and kind. The Mutianyu Great Wall trip proposed is fantastic !!!

About the Host, Daniel
My name is Daniel, and I've traveled a lot.
I traveled because I was looking for something. I am a Martial artist who taught for many years, but I know there's more things out there. I've settled in Beijing and decided to live in a courtyard, a nice, quiet, and downtown city courtyard, so I founded Fly by Knight Courtyard.
Nothing matters to me more than details, quality, and communication.
We have extremely high standards for our mattresses and beddings, spotless cleaning job, and we love to listen to travelers' stories.
