I thought of offering rooms with attached washroom in our apartment to tourists/ females / students / young/ elderly couples with valid travel documents, on a short visit to the city for tourism / internship / exhibitions and seeking home-stay / paying guest facility in a safe and decent locality with a cultured family so that they don't feel strangers in the mega city of Delhi NCR.

Ah the lovely Guptas and their beautiful home in New Delhi. The spacious room was very clean and comfortable and Mrs Gupta cooked me a delicious breakfast the one day I actually got up early enough! WiFi signal was strong and there's a TV too. Mr Gupta was extremely helpful including buying me a hard to come by tourist quota train ticket to Varanasi. The Gupta's apartment was for me the perfect introduction to India. To answer some of the comments others have left; put the hot water on, ask Mr Gupta to turn on the water pump and the shower is perfectly good even by western standards, no you're not bang on top of the Red Fort or in the centre of Parharganj (believe me you wouldn't want to be) but the easy to navigate Delhi metro is a short walk away and there's always rickshaws outside and they always found the Guptas apartment easily. As for the room being dark. Open the curtains/shutters! Thanks again to the Guptas. Namaste!
The accommodation was disappointing. First - while it was in an interesting 'real' Delhi suburb, the actual apartment was impossible for taxis, auto and manual rickshaws to find. We tried many ways. The apartment itself wasn't what we were promised, exclusive use of the apartment, especially a private bathroom were not real. The shower water pressure was so poor that we had to use a bucket of water and a jug to bathe. Not fun in winter. The bedroom is very dark and you'll keep on asking for enough linen. The apartment is on the 4th fl, no lift. The lighting in the stairwell is really poor, so be careful. We were also pressured to pay 1000rs for electricity.we refused as we had been given no information about this.
A final thing was that we arranged to be picked up from the airport, but he was an hour late, so we tried to get a registered taxi to the address, but they couldn't find it so we had to pay extra 4000rs for a new room. The landlord blamed me because I had no phone. I don't find this reasonable. Many people get mobiles here. He was late.
1. It was never promised that the use of the apartment would be exclusive. How can an apartment be left for the exclusive use of absolute strangers without any security amount. Who would be responsible for the loss, if any?
2.The bathroom is exclusive for the guests. If the water pressure was poor, he should have complained and asked us to start the pressure pump and keep it on at all times, which they never did.
3. The bedroom would be dark if you would not open the door or shift the curtains of the window to allow light inside the room and always keep the doors and windows shut. One can always use lights if one does not want to remove the curtains or open the door.
4. All the floors of the staircase are lighted and the guests have been using the lights whenever required.
5. About no lift and electricity charges, the listing clearly mentions that.
6. About airport pickup, they came out of the building an hour later after the plane landed and had no means to inform me. They did not even bother to request anyone to call me up and tell that they have arrived. I kept on waiting in the parking as we are not allowed to wait in the car at the arrival terminal. Moreover, even if I have been late as per their assertion, they are supposed to find out the place themselves on their own. When I agreed for airport pickup, I told them to contact me on arrival or have a working phone. many guests have come and none have ever complained that they could not find the place or had difficulty in locating the place. For 2 people, I had to provide 4 blankets and 4 towels, used a heated room all along and still say they had not enough linen.
7. To me all the above allegations have been made to avoid payment of these legitimate dues.
We had a short but nice stay with the Guptas! We even got coffee and biscuits in the morbing as well as some sweets and a drink the day before:) their advice for transportation was great. you should be aware of the fact that electricity is extra!
Please read the listing details again and then come back. If it is not there, I would refund you the electricity charges. It is not fair for educated people to do like this. It is entirely my prerogative to fix the price and charges for my listing. Your check in time was 2 o' clock but you checked in at about 8 am. You are supposed to pay Rs. 1500 which you have not paid and pleaded for its waiver.
Mr.Gupta and his wife are very good persons, and the place is peaceful (you will need in delhi), safe and near the metro. Also a very good welcoming...
My friend and I had a very nice stay! Because of our late flight, we arrived after midnight and still were expected with a warm welcome. The room is clean and cosy with a private bathroom and S K was very helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible. We got to enjoy indian hospitality like getting some breakfast in the morning and a ride into the city. Very nice couple to stay with for your trip to Delhi!
