Interaction with Guests
We are happy to share our home and hospitality with you. Your room and bath are very private and located in another hall, away from our own rooms, so you can have all the privacy you like.
We respect your privacy and know you will respect ours. We are retired and it is just the two of us here now (except for the feral cat in the back yard). If you have any special needs, just let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. We look forward to hosting you and appreciate that you have chosen to stay with us.
We are located in the Menlo Oaks neighborhood, between Bay Road and Coleman Avenue. We are in the unincorporated area of Menlo Park--that means centuries-old oak and redwood trees, no sidewalks, privacy, and peace and quiet. Mark Zuckerberg's Company, Stanford University, Sand Hill Road are all just minutes away. We are literally in the heart of Silicon Valley, equidistant from SJC and SFO. Even OAK is close by.
Easy to get around, close to 101, 84, and downtown Menlo Park and Palo Alto; 20 minutes to 280. Good to have a car or bike but, if not, there are city buses to take you where you need to be. If you need a ride somewhere, let us know in advance and we may be able to accommodate you.
Other Things to Note
Do you need a ride to or from the airport? A cab will cost between $85-$125. I'll be happy to drive you for a fee of $30 either way. Just let me know ahead of time.
We can be flexible regarding check-in and check-out times, just let us know ahead of time. Otherwise, we'll greet you after 4pm and bid you adieu by 11am.
We do ask that you refrain from using perfume or aftershave for everyone's comfort.
This is a SMOKE-FREE/PEANUT-FREE/pet-free home (except for the feral cat).

Paul and Paula have a beautiful home in a lovely quiet area. It was a very serene location and hard to believe we were in the middle of the city. They made us feel right at home and welcome. It felt more like visiting friends than anything else. The bed was extremely comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was amazing. We were able to relax before a busy day the next day. Paula even went out of her way to provide necessities for our infant as well. I highly recommend staying at any of the properties that Paul and Paula host.
What a fabulous stay with Paul and Paula! The room was even better than depicted in the photos -- charming, clean as can be, and with great attention to detail, and private, on a separate wing of the home, with a private (and beautiful) bathroom.. The bed was exquisitely comfortable. And, the home is in a lovely neighborhood. Paul and Paula made us feel so welcomed and at home, with Paula preparing a beautiful table for our breakfast. We felt sad to leave and would be delighted to stay again. Thank you Paul and Paula for making our visit so wonderful.
Lovely neighborhood, gracious hostess and host. Paula was incredibly accomodating to my husband who is a vegan, she bought special food just for him.
My short stay in Paul & Paula's place is wonderful! I can't imagine how great it is before I arrived. Paula is super friendly and indeed super host in real life (not only from airbnb). This beautiful lady takes care all the stuff very well. Her place is clean, comfortable, good decoration, nice feeling, quite. Definitely it's a part of unique experience in my trip. I will come back for sure. Highly recommended.
My wife and I stayed at Paul & Paula's home for two nights. It was our best accommodation experience in the US! The house/room looks even more beautiful than in the pics, and it feels so homy that my wife and I call it "home away from home". Paula provided for us services unmathced by many five-star hotels. Everything was ready before we arrive. As it was Chinese New Year, Paula was considerate enough to add some Chinese elements to the room and surprised us with carefully selected Chinese New Year gift. We enjoyed the stay so much and would strongly recommend! One more thing, we loved the countless flying pigs there;) Chao & Gloria
Words cannot express how welcome Paula made us feel. If AirBnB had 10 stars, Paula would earn all ten. Her attention to detail leads to a luxury experience reminiscent of the finest European hotels. The space is immaculate and beautifully decorated, but full of family warmth. Something that makes AirBnB so special. I hope we have the opportunity to stay here again!
You two are the best! So happy to have met you and have you stay with us, and I hope some day to visit your own Airbnb. Thanks for bringing the lovely weather with you, as well. Now that you've gone, it's been a little overcast... Hope to have you back again one day! Best regards to you and your family.
Unfortunately we didn't get to see Paul. However, Paula was a wonderful host.
She even prepared a bottle of champagne for my wife and I as this was part of our honeymoon trip.
The place was AMAZING and extremely welcoming. I couldn't praise more about this place and host.
Paula is a big fan of flying pig as she believes magical things could happen. Furthermore, she had shared many of her magical moments with us. Anyone looking for inspiration and great experience in the Bay Area. This is definitely the place to stay!
My husband, Paul, and I are both retired from Silicon Valley careers and now actively enjoy photography, travel, and our two granddaughters who live near by. We were fortunate to have traveled around the world before we retired. Now we choose to vacation in Cabo San Lucas whenever possible. Paul enjoys road trips (we drove to Cabo once) but I prefer flying. My life motto is "Choose Joy" and I believe pigs can (and do) fly--they are all over my home. All time favorite movies are "Harold and Maude" and "Grand Canyon" but I'll go see any movie, anytime. I am a Beatles FANatic. My daughter is a Francophile, hence all the Parisian influence around the house. We aren't fussy and really enjoy and LIVE in our home. Come in, take your shoes off, and get comfy. Feet on the furniture is a good thing. We hope you will visit us again and again!
