Our large home in Menlo Park has a quiet, private bedroom w/queen TempurPedic bed & private bathroom waiting for you. Enjoy the ambiance of a Parisian pied-a-terre, rural setting, & great hosts. Close to 101 & 84, SJC & SFO.

The Space

ENJOY the peace and quiet of a country setting in the unincorporated area of Menlo Park. Plenty of off-street parking in our spacious driveway.

YOUR ROOM has fresh flowers, a queen bed dressed with lovely sheets (flannel in the winter), a down comforter with a fresh duvet, and plenty of pillows. There is a small desk, a closet, and a few drawers for your personal items. You'll find bottled water and snacks in the armoire. Turn down service in the evening, chocolates on your pillow, and robes in your closet. Your room includes a 42" flat screen TV with Xfinity Premium TV, high-speed internet, WiFi, and a clock radio with iPhone 4 & 5 docs.

YOUR BATHROOM has a hair dryer, shampoo & conditioner, fresh towels, a new (email hidden) of soap (as well as liquid soap in the shower), magnifying mirror and night lights. Forgot your toothbrush? No, worries, we have a fresh supply. Maid service (me) every day to make your bed and refresh your bathroom.

BREAKFAST awaits you in the kitchen. Cereal, bread, and a toaster will be on the counter. Help yourself to the fridge for milk, OJ, yogurt, fruit, 1/2 and 1/2, butter and jam. Hot coffee and cups will also be waiting for you, along with sugar, Spenda and a variety of flavored creamers. A tea kettle is on the stove and a variety of tea is available. We also have "To-Go" cups if you're in a hurry.

We are a smoke-free/pet-free/peanut-free home.

Guest Access

Feel free to also use the connecting family room area to read, relax, or (in the winter) just to enjoy the fireplace.

Step outside to the backyard and enjoy breakfast at the patio table, or relax in the gazebo and catch a glimpse of "Charlie Feral".

Staying out late? You will have a key and we'll keep the light on for you. Please lock the door when you come in.

Interaction with Guests

We are happy to share our home and hospitality with you. Your room and bath are very private and located in another hall, away from our own rooms, so you can have all the privacy you like.

We respect your privacy and know you will respect ours. We are retired and it is just the two of us here now (except for the feral cat in the back yard). If you have any special needs, just let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. Stay with us on a weekend and you might get banana-walnut pancakes... We look forward to hosting you and appreciate that you have chosen to stay with us.

The Neighborhood

We are located in the Menlo Oaks neighborhood, between Bay Road and Coleman Avenue. We are in the unincorporated area of Menlo Park--that means centuries-old oak and redwood trees, no sidewalks, privacy, and peace and quiet. Mark Zuckerberg's Company, Stanford University, Sand Hill Road are all just minutes away. We are literally in the heart of Silicon Valley, equidistant from SJC and SFO. Even OAK is close by.

Getting around

Easy to get around, close to 101, 84, and downtown Menlo Park and Palo Alto; 20 minutes to 280. Good to have a car or bike but, if not, there are city buses to take you where you need to be. If you need a ride somewhere, let us know in advance and we may be able to accommodate you.

Other Things to Note

Do you need a ride to or from the airport? A cab will cost between $85-$125. I'll be happy to drive you for a fee of $30 either way. Just let me know ahead of time.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Paul & Paula's house. Paula made us feel at home from the first moment. She was super friendly. Paula provided us with a great breakfast. We liked the room, it was lovely decorated. The house is situated in a very nice neighborhood. We recommend the place to others.

  • This was my first time using Airbnb and I didn't know what to expect. I hope future experiences are as good as this one. Paula had a very nicely appointed room in a great house with a real attention to details. For example, there was an iPhone dock for an iPhone5, but she also had a cord for those people who still use a 4. Toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom, which was a lifesaver because I happened to forget mine, and snacks and water in the room.

  • We only stayed with Paula one night but we would love to come back again soon! Great hospitality, beautiful house and very practically located in the heart of Silicon Valley. The bedroom is fabulous with ideal access to a private bathroom. Everything was perfectly organized and we felt at home from the first step into the house!

  • I'm so happy that we stayed in Paula's house, the best house host in my first air B&B experience. She was so nice to ask what breakfast we like and prepared chocolate milk for my son and my son and her grand-daughter had a great time together. The house is just as beautiful as it shown on the picture, the bed is so soft and the house is so clean. I like how they design the house, homy and warm; my husband and I spent lots of time at the dining table and couch talking about how good it is. The location is perfect for our trip, less than an hour drive to San Francisco and easy to get on highway to south. I'll definitely visit Paula and her family again in my next San Francisco trip. And thanks Paula for the "Flying pigs" saying, I like the story you shared with me and I like the flying pigs in the house, everything is possible with our faith.

  • My husband and I enjoyed a most delightful stay with Paul and Paula. They were more then gracious and accommodating. Fresh coffee and breakfast every morning and it didn't matter if we came in late. They are our first place choice to stay in the future. Thank you Paul and Paula.

  • My husband and I had a very relaxing stay at this location. Everything was perfect, clean and comfortable. Paula was very kind to make us some coffee and toast in the morning. Great private location that is only 15-20 min away from Stanford University. Very friendly hosts and peaceful atmosphere. Thank you Paul and Paula! :)

  • Utterly serene and quiet. Fast Internet. Super clean and nice. Really it was just like being at home and we had a really nice time chatting with Paula. I walked to work and lingered on University (a favorite part of Palo Alto). Would definitely stay there again!

About
My husband, Paul, and I are both retired from Silicon Valley careers and now actively enjoy photography, travel, and our two granddaughters who live near by. We were fortunate to have traveled around the world before we retired. Now we choose to vacation in Cabo San Lucas whenever possible. Paul enjoys road trips (we drove to Cabo once) but I prefer flying. My life motto is "Choose Joy" and I believe pigs can (and do) fly--they are all over my home. All time favorite movies are "Harold and Maude" and "Grand Canyon" but I'll go see any movie, anytime. I am a Beatles FANatic. My daughter is a Francophile, hence all the Parisian influence around the house. We aren't fussy and really enjoy and LIVE in our home. Come in, take your shoes off, and get comfy. Feet on the furniture is a good thing. We hope you will visit us again and again!
