Dave and Patty were away on business when I arrived, and they invited me to make myself at home in their absence. Since the availability of a patio was prominently mentioned in the listing, I set up a small table outside the room for working on my computer and fielding occasional business calls. The room is relatively small and has no table or desk, so doesn't really lend itself to activities other than sleeping.
When Dave and Patty returned two days later, I discovered that they work at home, and their voices reverberate throughout the house. Again, not the best space for doing what I generally do on trips, which is do some business from the space I rent. Since they didn't tell me otherwise, I continued to use the patio as described. Then one morning, in the middle of an important call, Dave ordered me off the patio because he said I was scaring their cat away. I told him I was on an important call, but he insisted I leave immediately, complaining that I had "parked" myself on the patio and so drove the cat away. I was definitely shocked and put off at being talked to in this way and avoided contact with Dave and Patty until I left several days later. I suggest that they make this restriction clear from the outset, rather than communicating it in what I certainly felt was an abrupt and unfriendly way.
Since this was my first experience with Airbnb, it prompts me to wonder what we're signing up for when we book a room. For $69 a night, I expected kindness and hospitality and a generally quiet atmosphere, as well as a space that I could use as I would a hotel room. In fact, I felt like I was an intruder in someone else's home. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic. I certainly would not describe this as a quiet retreat, though I'm also sure that Dave and Patty have the best intentions and take pride in their home. In the end, I can only really say that what they offer was not what i needed. I wish them all the best.
Dave and Patty were very welcoming and hospitable. They have a beautiful home.
Dave and Patty gave us a very warm reception and helped us settle into the casita for our stay. Great neighborhood, quiet and convenient to all the gem shows. We stayed in the casita and enjoyed the very comfortable bed. Only stayed one night and would comment that this would probably be more suitable for a single traveler. Dave and Patty were very helpful when we altered our plans and worked with us in changing the details of the reservation. Thanks again for a comfortable stay.
What a wonderful experience! Dave and Patty are fabulous hosts and their home is very...well...homey. Comfortable and clean, they offer a space that made me feel like I was back in my own bedroom. The bed is superb, and having my own bathroom was very helpful.
We had some great discussions, but Dave and Patty were also more than willing to respect my schedule when I needed to keep on the move. They even called to check on me when I stayed with a friend for a few nights. No qualms at all with me disappearing for a bit. Just a "welcome home" when I returned. I always felt like my things were safe, and my privacy respected. Patty asked me every night what I wanted for breakfast the next morning. Whether it was fruit and yogurt, or a homemade empanada, I had just what I needed to start my day.
I would recommend staying with Dave and Patty any time, and hope to spend more time with them in the future. A good space is a great thing, but fabulous hosts are really hard to come by. This couple is the best! Thanks Dave and Patty!!
Dave and Patty are excellent hosts and their are accommodations just as advertised: Lovely house in a quiet neighborhood. I had a great stay with Dave and Patty. They are very friendly and their home is comfortable and extremely clean. We had plenty in common to talk about. I couldn't find a better place to stay. I highly recommend it.
This is an excellent location with restaurants nearby. I was there for the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. All of the shows were 15 to 20 minutes away.
One more most important thing. The shower. Great water pressure, great shower.
Good stay, clean room and everything provided. Dave and Patty are both extremely nice and eager to please their guests. Dave even woke up early to make me a cup of coffee so I'd do well at my interview. They also accepted me on very short notice which was great.
Dave was a perfect host, very welcoming and helpful. I stayed there for two nights and he makes me feel like I was at home. House is really nice, spacious and the room is quiet and clean. I couldn't find a better place to stay. I totally recommend it :)
