Beautiful remodeled duplex with gas operated stone fireplace, private deck and sunken living room. Close to restaurants, shopping, downtown and the running trail. Internet, cable, off street parking and a 42" TV!! All hardwood and stone floors. Fully stocked kitchen. You'll love this place and I am the BEST host ever.
A few specifics:
Living room has newly refinished long leaf pine floors. New window coverings, brand new 42" flat screen tv, new sofa which easily coverts to full sized bed, new ottoman and loveseat. The living room ceiling is 10 ft because it is sunken from the kitchen and bedroom living space and has a ceiling fan. It has one of a kind, hand made french doors with etched glass which open to oversized covered wooden deck. On the private deck there is a ceiling fan for outside enjoyment and a table with 4 chairs. The deck is my favorite place to sit and relax when my duplex is not rented.
Bedroom has newly refinished original oak floors, great lighting and a ceiling fan. It has nice natural light with the windows looking out onto a covered patio. Bathroom has enclosed shower, all natural stone floors and stucco like wall treatment. Oversized storage cabinets in bathroom.
The kitchen is fully stocked with natural stone flooring.
There is a restaurant/coffee shop two blocks from the duplex and if you like to walk, Lake Austin, and several restaurants and retail shops are a mile or two away. This neighborhood is considered one of the nicest and best located in the city. It is very upscale and quiet, so if this sounds like what you are looking for, I'd love to hear from you!

This bungalow is perfect! I stayed here while waiting for my house to be built. It's a quiet neighborhood with walking access to a great coffee shop (Austin Java). The house is very clean and I loved living here. Chris was an absolutely amazing host. I am so fortunate to have found this little bungalow to stay (website hidden) - The front patio is the perfect place to chill out. Whether you are getting some work done on your laptop or having dinner, the landscaping will make you feel like you are in your own little retreat.
My wife and I stayed three weeks in Chris's bungalow in May and June and had a wonderful stay. The apartment is well appointed, the bed comfortable, the landscaping beautiful, the porch restful, the location convenient to downtown.
My wife and I had a delightful experience staying at Chris's apartment. A great location, wonderful accommodations, and fantastic hostess. I would recommend her place to everyone.
This bungalow was in a nice neighborhood, close to activities in Austin and had a great layout with full kitchen and living room with gas fireplace. We loved sitting out on the deck with a glass of wine watching the birds. Chris was very nice and had basics ready in the kitchen. Definitely a good value for the money.
I'd highly recommend Chris's beautiful bungalow in Tarrytown, Austin. I recently stayed for just over a month and was delighted with my choice. The bungalow is scrupulously clean and extremely comfortable, modern decor throughout, a comfortable bed with beautiful crisp linens, more than enough towels in the bathroom and everything you might need from a kitchen. The bungalow is spacious and had I wanted friends to stay over there would have been ample room, the couch converts into a bed for any extra guests.
I really made use of the porch which is shady and secluded and I felt very relaxed and safe staying in this high end location. The neighbors are quiet and respectful and there are a few stores just a few minutes walk away, including the Austin Java Vegan and Vegetarian eatery. Downtown is a very short drive away, Deep Eddy swimming pool is around a five minute drive and lakeside eateries like Hula Hut and Mozarts are a 10 minute drive max.
Chris is a great host, she was discrete and considerate and respectful of my privacy, she responded quickly if I needed anything.
I'm certainly looking forward to my next stay.
An amazing bungalow, the pictures do it justice! Cozy with enough room for two, or even for a small family of three or four. Chris is an excellent host and cake, coffee, yoghurt, and fruit was waiting for us. It's 100% clean, and the bed is really comfy. A wonderful base for exploring Austin.
Nice touch is the open gas fire for chilly nights.
I'll be back!
This was my second stay at Chris' "bungalow" in West Austin. I really love being in the house - it's like being at home. I will stay there whenever I can. (See my earlier review for a description of what it's like there.)
Chris's place was great! My favorite thing was the fire place! My daughter and I snuggled on the couch watching movies by the very comfy fireplace watching the flat screen. Chris is very hospitable and has her own beautiful place next door. We were in the best location to travel to and from the theatre, which was great because we avoided all the traffic. Kitchen was wonderful, wifi great and even sharing the laundry room was very easy as well. Chris's dog is also a charm. Thanks for the wonderful Austin experience!
We loved our little vacation in Chris' bungalow - especially sitting on the porch with the Christmas lights and on chilly nights in front of the fireplace! Chris was a terrific host, available to meet our needs at all times. When we arrived, the bungalow was spotlessly clean and came stocked with spare towels and toiletries, menus, suggestions for nearby sights and groceries, coffee grounds, and treats for us in the fridge! Very friendly, easy, and comfortable experience. Thank you, Chris!
I just moved to Austin and was looking for a place to stay while getting my life set up. Chris' bungalow was perfect for me and she's a great host who I know would definitely go above and beyond to help out with anything.
