Beautiful West Austin Bungalow

Bed & Breakfast - Entire home/apt · Elton Ln, Austin, TX 78703, United States

Original Old West Austin home with an updated interior in the perfect location.

The Space

Beautiful remodeled duplex with gas operated stone fireplace, private deck and sunken living room. Close to restaurants, shopping, downtown and the running trail. Internet, cable, off street parking and a 42" TV! All hardwood and stone floors. Fully stocked kitchen. You'll love this place and I am the BEST host ever.

A few specifics:

Living room has beautiful long leaf pine floors, 42" flat screen tv, comfy sofa which easily coverts to full sized bed, leather ottoman and loveseat. The sunken living room has 10 ft ceilings with original wooden beams and canned lighting. It has one of a kind, hand made french doors with etched glass which open to oversized covered wooden deck. On the private deck there is a ceiling fan for outside enjoyment and a table with 4 chairs. The deck is my favorite place to sit and relax when my duplex is not rented.

The bedroom has refinished original oak floors, great lighting and a ceiling fan. It has nice natural light with the windows looking out onto a covered patio. Bathroom has enclosed shower, all natural stone floors and stucco like wall treatment. Oversized storage cabinets in bathroom.

The kitchen is fully stocked with natural stone flooring.

There is a grocery store and Starbucks withing 1/2 mile. If you like to walk or bike, Lake Austin, and several restaurants and retail shops are a mile or two away. This neighborhood is considered one of the most beautiful and best located in the city. It is very upscale and quiet, so if this sounds like what you are looking for, I'd love to hear from you!

The Neighborhood

Tarrytown is one of the oldest and most highly sought after neighborhoods in the city. With the rapid growth over the past several years it's a wonderful combination of old Austin charm with access to downtown within minutes. Heavily treed sandwiched between Lake Austin and downtown, it is the perfect location for nightlife and daily exercise and sightseeing.

Getting around

The public bus system Capitol Metro picks up just 2 blocks from the bungalow for a short few minutes to 5th and Congres...the heart of downtown.

  • Perfect little place. Very quiet and comfortable. Great neighborhood. Close to downtown. Chris recommended some amazing restaurants. Overall an extraordinary experience.

  • My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in this cool, split level, one-bedroom apartment. The location was very convenient, between MoPac and Exposition, yet in a quiet neighborhood. The corner lot was landscaped beautifully, which gave it a natural barrier to the adjacent streets. There was a large front porch partially hidden by three striking planters that were lit up a night, providing a welcoming entry. Chris provided muffins, pastries, yogurt, bananas, juice, coffee, etc. There was a coffee maker and a full kitchen with all supplies needed if we wanted to cook. Chris, who lived in the adjoining duplex, was welcoming, but gave us our privacy. The bed was very comfortable, and we loved the fireplace. The only thing that we missed was having shops and restaurants within walking distance, although they were only 5 minutes away by car. There was a bus stop a few blocks away, and my understanding is that Austin has a great bus system, but we never tried it out. All in all, it was a great place to stay and we would definitely stay there again.

  • This is a really nice, peaceful place, with a fully equipped kitchen (including Peets Coffee!!), free internet, beautiful hardwood floors, high ceilings, and located in a fantastic neighborhood (almost walking distance to Lake Austin and Mozart's coffee shop). I felt at home, and plan to visit again!

  • The space was awesome and worked perfectly for our little family! Chris was great,we'll definitely stay here again (hopefully next time it'll be cold enough for that fireplace!)

  • My Fiance and I booked the bungalow for a month and we loved it. It was cozy, clean and in a perfect location for all our sight-seeing. We had several families members in and out of the house during our stay and Chris was extremely accommodating to all the new names and faces. Her relaxed and welcoming demeanor made our stay all the more enjoyable. She even had the place cleaned for us one morning! The house also falls within the Car2Go range and the neighborhood is always full of easily accessible cars. We loved our trip and would happily recommend Chris' home to anyone who said they were Austin bound!

  • We rented the bungalow for 5 days to visit my son at UT and it was the perfect place! It is absolutely adorable and in a great neighborhood. Chris was very helpful, especially when we locked ourselves out. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely stay there next time if it's available.

  • The apartment was great, and appears just as pictured. We were 4 staying in the apartment. The couch opens up to a full bed and it was more comfortable than the average sofa bed. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the bathroom is only accessibly through the bedroom which made it tricky at times with 4 adults. There were muffins, fruit and juice in the apartment when we arrived which we appreciated very much. The apartment felt very private and we enjoyed our stay in Austin.

  • The West Austin Bungalow was very clean, had plenty of space, and was very nicely decorated. The location is excellent for access to the UT campus or downtown Austin and is situated in a high end residential area of Austin. Chris was an excellent host and was helpful and responsive to our requests. My wife and I will definitely stay here again when we return to Austin.

  • I stayed here a month and Chris was a wonderful host! She was friendly, responsive and ready to help with anything. She had suggestions for local entertainment and made sure that I had what I needed to enjoy my stay. She responded very quickly to any questions I had and was more than happy to work with my erratic laundry schedule. The neighborhood is peaceful and residential but still within 15 minutes (or less) of Austin's greatest attractions.

  • We loved staying at Chris' place! It was charming, clean, and in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood. (And she was super friendly!) Definitely recommend!

About
I have lived in Austin for 30 years, coming here originally to go to UT. I work in Real Estate and LOVE to play the guitar. I run with my dog Mulder every morning, travel whenever I can and love to go out to see live music. I have a grown son, Angelo, who Is a great young man and he and I are very close. I make a mean Italian red sauce that my mom taught me, love to snowboard and my favorite movie is Moonstruck (I grew up in a very similar family). My rental is the other side of my home so it has been treated with love and attention. I'm a great host!
