Original Old West Austin home with an updated interior in the perfect location.
Beautiful remodeled duplex with gas operated stone fireplace, private deck and sunken living room. Close to restaurants, shopping, downtown and the running trail. Internet, cable, off street parking and a 42" TV! All hardwood and stone floors. Fully stocked kitchen. You'll love this place and I am the BEST host ever.
A few specifics:
Living room has beautiful long leaf pine floors, 42" flat screen tv, comfy sofa which easily coverts to full sized bed, leather ottoman and loveseat. The sunken living room has 10 ft ceilings with original wooden beams and canned lighting. It has one of a kind, hand made french doors with etched glass which open to oversized covered wooden deck. On the private deck there is a ceiling fan for outside enjoyment and a table with 4 chairs. The deck is my favorite place to sit and relax when my duplex is not rented.
The bedroom has refinished original oak floors, great lighting and a ceiling fan. It has nice natural light with the windows looking out onto a covered patio. Bathroom has enclosed shower, all natural stone floors and stucco like wall treatment. Oversized storage cabinets in bathroom.
The kitchen is fully stocked with natural stone flooring.
There is a grocery store and Starbucks withing 1/2 mile. If you like to walk or bike, Lake Austin, and several restaurants and retail shops are a mile or two away. This neighborhood is considered one of the most beautiful and best located in the city. It is very upscale and quiet, so if this sounds like what you are looking for, I'd love to hear from you!
Tarrytown is one of the oldest and most highly sought after neighborhoods in the city. With the rapid growth over the past several years it's a wonderful combination of old Austin charm with access to downtown within minutes. Heavily treed sandwiched between Lake Austin and downtown, it is the perfect location for nightlife and daily exercise and sightseeing.
The public bus system Capitol Metro picks up just 2 blocks from the bungalow for a short few minutes to 5th and Congres...the heart of downtown.
There is a beautiful new community pool walking distance from the home.

Friendly neighbors, quiet, older beautiful tree lined streets. Very safe.
Public bus line three blocks from the house.
No smoking. Washer and dryer are available upon request for $5.00 a load, shared with owner. Neighborhood is very quiet and guests must respect the general request for unobtrusive, discreet visitors. Thanks!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Chris's property for about a month. Chris was wonderful! She was there upon our arrival and left us fresh grapefruit juice, muffins, etc. The entire place was stocked with linens, towels, kitchen supplies, toiletries, etc. We especially loved the fireplace! Don't get me wrong the bed was extremely comfortable-however some nights we found ourselves sleeping out by the fireplace in the living room because it was so cozy.
Chris was very helpful giving us suggestions as it was our first time in Austin. Her neighborhood is quiet and safe but just the right distance (about a 5-7 minute ride) from downtown. Public transportation is also right up the street-perfect location!
When we return to Austin we definitely will connect with Chris again! Thank you!
My wife and I stayed in Chris's bungalow for a little over four months, and it was absolutely perfect in every way. The place itself is beautiful - just like in the pictures. It is so open and full of light. Everything was very clean and in great shape - the windows open, kitchen appliances work well, shower water heated up quickly. Even the pillows and bed were very comfortable (and my wife and I are pretty picky in that area!). And the fireplace...amazing. In addition to the house being great, the neighborhood and street are perfect. We went on walks every day and loved meeting the neighbors and admiring all of the beautiful houses. We also enjoyed easy access to a grocery store, gas station, MoPac Expressway, and the UT campus. As another reviewer mentioned, we did have some trouble with cell phone service, but only on mine which is through Verizon. My wife has AT&T and never had any problems. My wife worked from home, and the WiFi always worked great. Thank you, Chris, for such a great stay!
Chris' bungalow is an absolute gem - the location is perfect, the house is clean and comfortable, the neighborhood is serene, and I could not have asked for a better host. Chris was very warm and friendly and every time I contacted her, she always responded within minutes.
Aside from the host and great neighborhood, I valued the central AC the most - coming from San Francisco that thing was truly a lifesaver! All of the other appliances were also functional and the house was fully stocked.
Chris was extremely welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. The bungalow is absolutely beautiful, located in the heart of one of the best neighborhoods in Austin, and perfectly comfortable for all of our needs. We had the most wonderful experience during our stay thanks to Chris and her beautiful home.
We had a wonderful experience in Austin with Chris! The place was fantastic - charming and comfortable and in a beautiful area! Just as described. Chris was so friendly and helpful - if we needed anything, she was there to help out! The refrigerator died on our second day there - there was a new one in its place practically the following day! Couldn't have asked for a better host!! Next time we are back in Austin, we won't hesitate to go back. Very highly recommended!!!
We stayed in Chris's bungalow for a month while our condo was being remodeled. The neighborhood is very cute, calm, and quiet. I loved going for runs past all the nice houses. The porch outside is also gorgeous and the front doors of the bungalow have huge built-in screens that you can open and let a breeze run through the rooms -- without letting in any bugs.
The interior is well-lit and spacious and there's lots of storage. We stayed for a whole month and brought a lot of our stuff but still didn't feel cramped.
The only negative I experienced was that the house itself is in something of a wireless dead-spot (we had AT&T and Verizon). If I wanted clear reception I often had to walk outside and stand in the street. This can get annoying, depending on how much time you spend on your phone. It's also not Chris's fault at all, just a quirk of telecommunications, I suppose.
Chris' place was great! She was an excellent hostess, very kind and helpful. The location is superb. Wonderful porch - and close to downtown!
I have lived in Austin for 30 years, coming here originally to go to UT. I work in Real Estate and LOVE to play the guitar. I run with my dog Mulder every morning, travel whenever I can and love to go out to see live music. I have a grown son, Angelo, who Is a great young man and he and I are very close. I make a mean Italian red sauce that my mom taught me, love to snowboard and my favorite movie is Moonstruck (I grew up in a very similar family). My rental is the other side of my home so it has been treated with love and attention. I'm a great host!
