Interaction with Guests

15 minute walk from Manufaktura and only 20 mins on foot to get to the heart of the city (Piotrkowska Street). Take a bus/taxi, and you'll be there in 5 mins.
Near the appartment, within 5 mins walking distance there are: lots of small grocery and similar shops, a local Tesco, 24-h gas station with shop, 24-h McDonalds, a restaurant and a couple of pizza/chinese food shops. Take a 15 min walk north to get to a 24-h Tesco Extra mall.
In the nearest vicinity there are 2 major tram lines and 2 bus lines. Lots of choices of public transportation. The easies way of getting around is using google maps (public transport function). It covers all means of transportation available from the apartment.
Other Things to Note
If you want to visit Manufaktura, I'd also recommend visiting MS2 (museum of modern art), which is just by the main building.
There you will be able to see not only one of the finest modern art collections in Europe, but you will also see how the factory buildings look inside.
I'd stay away from Manufaktura restaurants, though, with the only exception of Mei Mei (chinese) (but do not eat any chicken there -- they just don't know how to cook it) and Andel's hotel restaurants.
Going south from Manufaktura you will get to Piotrkowska Street, the main street in Lodz.
There you will find plenty of good restaurants, and pubs/bars.
Recommended restaurants (mains below 10 EUR):
- Italian: Pomodoro (pizza only) - Rewolucji 4, Włoszczyzna - Piotrkowska 16, Piknik - Traugutta 3
- Russian: Teremok - Piramowicza 10 (this is really authentic one, mainly dumplings and soup)
- Hungarian: Varoska - Traugutta 4
- Bulgarian: 69 - Piotrkowska 69
- Japanese/Thai: Atosushi - 6 Sierpnia 1
- Georgian/Armenian: Lavash - Piotrkowska 69
- Indian: Ganesh (best indian food ever) - Piotrkowska 69
- Burgers: Byk Burger - Struga 7, Jerrys: Piotrkowska 85, Lodzkie Burgery: Piotrkowska 178 (best)
- Polish: Polska - Piotrkowska 12
- Vegetarian: Zbozowa - Roosevelta 7 (really good food)
- Czech: Tymienieckiego 25 (also good Czech beer -- worth going there to see 2 huge industrial areas converted to residental (Tymienieckiego 25) and business (Tymienieckiego 22).
Also worth seeing nearby: Ksiezy Młyn residental area (just opposite main entrance at Tymienieckiego 25). All these are within walking distance from the Film School Museum.
Best beer in town:
- Piwoteka: 6 Sierpnia 1/3 (regional beers, really worth going there)
- Z innej beczki: Moniuszki 6 (13 taps, regional beers, astonishing terrace (not too nice inside, though)
There is an interesting eating/drinking place called OFF Piotrkowska at Piotrkowska 178 - good food there (except for Tari Bari), you can eat African, Vege, Insects and what not there.
If you want to taste Polish regional cheese and wine -- Ser Lancelot - Off Piotrkowska, at the opposite end of the main entrance.
Its also a nice post-industrial area and there are a few nice design shops.
If you need nightlife recommendations - Just go to Piotrkowska street and Off Piotrkowska
What I really recommend is seeing Urban Forms Mural Gallery, second to New York.
Following the murals you will also be able to see different parts of the city. Don't be put off by the run-down districts :-)
It is best to travel by bike.
