Coco has created a true Pura Vida environment. The house is created with so much love and care and has everything you need. We have seen more animals in his garden than El Arenal and Monteverde together. Coco as a host is accessible, friendly, helpful and chill. Thanks again for a lovely stay.
This was a great experience! The cabina was very nice and all you need to enjoy Costa Rica. The wood work coco put into creating this cabina was beyond amazing. Coco was very nice and took us to reggae night on Saturday and surfed a few days as well. His dogs nacho and pisco were like our own and gave us great company as we rested up in the hammocks. We can't wait to go back!
Awesome place, in a great Village. Good people around, and a really nice Coffeeshop/Breakfast spot next door. Monkeys live in the trees of the front yard! Definitely recommend.
We loved staying at Coco's place in Playa Negra! The area is tucked away so the beach was never crowded. We went with our two kids who are 11 and 13 and they loved jumping in the waves, boogie boarding and they even tried surfing thanks to Coco who recommended a great surf instructor named Ricardo. The area is great for wildlife. We saw monkeys on the path to the beach each day and heard them each night around Coco's house, though we only saw them once there. An iguana hung out outside the house eating the compost and an armadillo even walked by us one morning. Coco was always available to give us advice and help out with anything we needed. We hope to stay at Coco's again someday!
We booked the whole month of June at Coco's place in Playa Negra. There were always four of us, but various groups coming and going. There was plenty of space and accommodations for everyone, and the whole month was a blast.
With Coco's help, we went horseback riding, jungle tours, day trips to Avellanas, Tamarindo, and Junquillal, spear fishing and much more. The house itself is situated about a 15 minute walk from the beach, but with great restaraunts along the way and firing surf at the end of the road its worth the walk.
Overall, we had a blast and Coco was a great host. He is currently looking to buy the land behind his house to build a tree house which we would all definitely come back for!
Such a great place to stay! Coco's place is a perfect home base for exploring Playa Negra and the other towns nearby. Howler monkeys came through on our last day, which was great to see! The house has plenty of space, the air conditioning kept us cool at night, and the beach is a short walk down the road. Playa Negra is a really unique town filled with nice people. Coco was the greatest host - he rented me a board for a few days, took us out to dinner at a fantastic pizza place nearby, and was available whenever we had questions. He's just an awesome guy to hang out with! If you want a low-key, authentic Playa Negra experience, definitely stay here!
Coco and his cabina are absolute gems! Playa Negra is the friendliest town I have ever been to. His friend Ben picked us up at the airport and took us grocery shopping where food was cheap. The cabina had everything to cook our meals (pots, stove top, fridge, freezer, etc). The cabina is very clean, spacious, and unique with all the woodwork and furniture Coco built himself. Coco is an amazing host and always helped us out. He invited us to yoga class plus he hooked us up with good deals for surf lessons and hikes! It's also a beautiful 15 minute walk to the beach through the small surf town and fields of horses. There is a bar/restaurant on the beach if we ever needed food or a drink. Overall, staying at Coco's with his dogs Nacho and Pisco made our adventures in Costa Rica extremely memorable and we would definitely stay again! Thanks Coco again for one of the best vacations we’ve ever had! Pura Vida!! :)
