About This Listing
In the Temescal District of Oakland, near Telegraph Avenue. Two blocks to BART with a 15 minute ride to San Francisco. 3 miles to UC Berkeley. Shops, restaurants, etc. right around the corner. Hardwood floors, complete kitchen, LCD television.
Light and airy two bedroom home near MacArthur BART, with frequent trains to San Francisco. Easy access to UC Berkeley, downtown Oakland, Berkeley hills, shopping, bars, yoga, restaurants, etc.
Access to all kitchen utensils and cooking supplies, ingredients and staples.
I love the great coffee shops and bakeries right around the corner. There is an awesome yoga studio four blocks away and many great restaurants including fish tacos, mac and cheese, beer/sausage garden, korean, japanese, to high end fancy within walking distance. The commute to downtown SF or Berkeley is a piece of cake. It's still Oakland, so the feel is urban and slightly gritty, but my street is quiet.
Napa and Sonoma wine country is a one hour drive north, and there are great walks in the Oakland and Berkeley hills nearby.
Buses and BART are both incredibly close and easy.
BART is the best access from airport. A taxi from Oakland Airport costs about $45.
Parking is on the street.
Other Things to Note
There is an in-law unit with a separate entrance under the back half of the house. The tenant is in her mid-twenties and has a full time day job. She has a dog, which I can occasionally hear, but which is generally quiet. If you have kids and they get bored, the dog loves to chase balls all day. The living room/TV/stereo of my house (this listing) is over the garage and no sounds at all make it from there to the in-law.
There is one queen sized bed with a new mattress and one full sized futon. The queen mattress is a fancy split type, with the left side more firm than the right side (looking from the foot of the bed). The futon is foam and firm. I listed it for four people because that's how many fit the real beds. But more could sleep on the couch or on my camping pads on the floor.
As if it's your own house. Everything in the kitchen and fridge is fair game, just avoid the wine rack :)
Well behaved pets are OK. $5 extra per night for pets.
Mark's place was great. The house was clean, bright, and spacious. All the amenities we needed were there. Mark was very responsive, and left parking permits so parking was never a problem. The neighborhood is really cool, close to Broadway and Piedmont. Thanks Mark!
This is a late review, sorry about that Mark! This is my first Airbnb experience. My family and I had a wonderful Stay at Mark's place. We were completely provided for. Everything is beyond expectation. Mark responded to our questions promptly. There are also instruction regarding how to check in, check out and fun places to visit nearby provided by Mark. We would highly recommend this place!
We were visiting the area for my son's college graduation and this house could not have been more perfect. Spacious, clean and plenty of ammenities. Wonderful kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances. Huge front picture window that allowed for lots of natural light. Lightening fast wifi. Modern bathroom. Comfortable beds. The location was ideal as well -- a quiet street but close to everything from great restaurants to the UC Berkeley campus. Our host was easy to work with, responded to my questions very quickly and the key box made arrival and departure seamless. I wouldn't hesitate to return.
Mark was helpful in making everything fast and convenient. The entire renting process was very well organized; where to find the key, where to park and a permit was prepared for us. The property was well kept for our use. We had a pleasant stay! Thank you Mark! Only thing was that we didn't get to meet Mark and the dog downstair.
Clean, sunny and comfortable home in a quiet neighborhood. Parking was a little challenging on the day we arrived (Saturday). We were able to park in front of Mark's house on Sunday and Monday morning without issue. Good location with easy access to highway and BART. Many restaurants and shops nearby. If you like Korean food like we do, there are many within walking distance. There is also a nice Korean grocery store on corner of 23 st. Kitchen is well stocked. Mark is very accommodating and easy to communicate. He left parking permit, maps and detail instructions for us which are helpful. We will stay here again on our next trip to bay area.
Convenient home close to many amenities. Totally walkable for neighborhood restaurants/beer; would recommend driving for groceries, etc. We had some miscommunication about cleaning (which probably was my fault), but it worked out fine. The downstairs neighbor was super helpful, giving us a number for a potential babysitter. Parking was a little difficult after 8pm, but the host provides parking hang tags for guests, which was unexpected and appreciated. MacArthur BART is walkable close, as well, which was great for commuting back and forth to the city.
About the Host, Mark
I'm an engineer for the EPA and travel frequently. I love the Bay Area for it's great weather and outdoor activities, while still having all the urban amenities. Rockclimbing and yoga are my main hobbies. I'll try to make your stay great. Though other than leaving my place clean and well-stocked, I guess the quality of your visit is really more up to you finding fun things to do, which is never a problem around here.
