In the Temescal District of Oakland, near Telegraph Avenue. Two blocks to BART with a 15 minute ride to San Francisco. 3 miles to UC Berkeley. Shops, restaurants, etc. right around the corner. Hardwood floors, complete kitchen, LCD television.
Light and airy two bedroom home near MacArthur BART, with frequent trains to San Francisco. Easy access to UC Berkeley, downtown Oakland, Berkeley hills, shopping, bars, yoga, restaurants, etc.
Access to all kitchen utensils and cooking supplies, ingredients and staples.
I love the great coffee shops and bakeries right around the corner. There is an awesome yoga studio four blocks away and many great restaurants including fish tacos, mac and cheese, beer/sausage garden, korean, japanese, to high end fancy within walking distance. The commute to downtown SF or Berkeley is a piece of cake. It's still Oakland, so the feel is urban and slightly gritty, but my street is quiet.
Napa and Sonoma wine country is a one hour drive north, and there are great walks in the Oakland and Berkeley hills nearby.
Buses and BART are both incredibly close and easy.
BART is the best access from airport. A taxi from Oakland Airport costs about $45.
Parking is on the street.
Other Things to Note
There is an in-law unit with a separate entrance under the back half of the house. The tenant is in her mid-twenties and has a full time day job. She has a dog, which I can occasionally hear, but which is generally quiet. If you have kids and they get bored, the dog loves to chase balls all day. The living room/TV/stereo of my house (this listing) is over the garage and no sounds at all make it from there to the in-law.
There is one queen sized bed with a new mattress and one full sized futon. The queen mattress is a fancy split type, with the left side more firm than the right side (looking from the foot of the bed). The futon is foam and firm. I listed it for four people because that's how many fit the real beds. But more could sleep on the couch or on my camping pads on the floor.
As if it's your own house. Everything in the kitchen and fridge is fair game, just avoid the wine rack :)
Well behaved pets are OK. $5 extra per night for pets.
Mark's home was absolutely beautiful and located in a great part of town, just a short walk from restaurants, bars, shops and the BART stop.
Mark was responsive, helpful and although we never met, he provided me with a detailed list of attractions in the neighborhood! I would absolutely recommend Mark as a host and his home as an accommodation to choose when visiting Oakland!
Very modern , great location for the Bart. Very spacious , clean and it was good that we had it to ourselves. Only small negative is that we didn't get sufficient breakfast for the amount of nights we were staying for.
I rented this place out for my three friends and I since it was less than a mile away from where our mutual friends lived at. Although we didn't meet Mark in person, he provided enough instructions to get us through our stay. Maps and lists of various things nearby was also provided. He was just a simple phone call or text away in case I needed anything. The place itself was more than we could imagine. It was nice, cozy and it felt like home to us. The neighborhood itself was safe and Mark even provided a parking permit for us. Overall we all had an amazing experience with our stay here. I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose. Thanks again for allowing us the chance to stay here Mark!
Mark was a great host and the house was just as described. The location is awesome and very convenient with many restaurants nearby as well as the BART. Renovated and good condition. There was also lots of space and a full kitchen. Overall very happy.
This spot is awesome . Spacious house good for a family that is new to the Bay (website hidden) a welcoming feeling. Def renting out this place again next time I visit the Bay Area !
Thanks, Mark. It was a very well managed house. We loved the comfy bedrooms and clean kitchen. We could make our own dinner in your place and did laundry too.
It was one of the best AirBNBs of my trip to the USA. Thx...
I'm an engineer for the EPA and travel frequently. I love the Bay Area for it's great weather and outdoor activities, while still having all the urban amenities. Rockclimbing and yoga are my main hobbies. I'll try to make your stay great. Though other than leaving my place clean and well-stocked, I guess the quality of your visit is really more up to you finding fun things to do, which is never a problem around here.
