Guests have access to a beautiful lounge (shared if the second room is let) where their continental breakfast is served or they can just relax. Their own bathroom and bedroom with tea tray, tv and tourist information.
Interaction with Guests
As much as they want us to. Some guests chat and ask for info, some we never see. It's their break and we respect that.
Bowness is a lively all year round tourist destination with lovely shops, restaurants and loads of things to do and see all within walking distance of the house. The lake offers cruises up to Ambleside or down to newby bridge, hire a rowing boat or a canoe from the low wood Watersports centre.
Buses and taxis are readily available and we will collect from Windermere station if we are around. There are Great Lake district tours with the mountain goat company.
We don't allow smoking in the house but there is ample space in the garden. We ask that take aways are eaten in the lounge and not in the bedroom and well behaved pets are allowed with prior agreement.
Thanks to Steve for hosting us at the weekend. We were attending a wedding at the nearby Belsfield Hotel and the location couldn't have been better.
A short stroll into town, 800 yards from the hotel and a beautiful house to come back to. The bedroom and bathroom were pleasant and facilities more than adequate. Steve was a very welcoming host and even phoned to say the room was ready in advance of our check in time.
If you're in the Lakes, this is an ideal place to stay.
Yes, we were made to feel very welcome. The house is set in a neighborhood with many houses, and with twisty roads to get to them, so finding the place was a bit difficult. This is the only suggestion we have for our hosts, and that is to give detailed directions to their house. Perhaps a small portion of a street map showing their location would be helpful as well.
Beautiful house. Spacious and nicely decorated. It has everything a guest needs. Jane and Steve give a high degree of personal space and privacy to their guests.
The house was quite difficult to find, but the host assured us other people had not had this problem. Unfortunately an email I sent confirming our booking and time of arrival had failed to send, so the host was not sure if we were coming or not, causing the host some frustration. I appreciate it must be extremely difficult not knowing if guests are confirmed. After our arrival we were pretty much left to our own devices. A light breakfast was left out for our consumption, which was quite nice.
The location was very good, easy walk into town, less than 5minutes. Many nice places to eat, although some restaurants do stop serving at 8.00, so make sure you go out earlier than that.
The room was downstairs and there was some noise intrusion from people walking upstairs.
The room was clean and comfortable. There were coffee making facilities, which was nice, but we did run out of coffee and milk, and ther was no kitchen access to store milk to make coffee.
Jane and Steve are terrific hosts and are very well prepared for their guests with welcome information in the bedroom. We were late for our expected arrival time but thankfully a key was left for us to get in. We were very cozy in their beautiful home and Steve generously drove us to the train station in the morning to save us the laborious task of hauling our heavy packs up the long hill. Thanks Steve!

About the Host, Jane
Steve and I live in the fabulous Lake District with our two rabbits (left by the daughter that went to Uni) and two Yorkshire terriers. I work as the Head of Admissions for a private school, and although we both spend an amount of time travelling overseas we both love what we do, but it can be a little hectic. When we have time we like walking, eating out, cooking and time out, which isn't often.
Our children are all grown and have flown the nest but we love having people to stay, so we decided that with a beautiful big empty house in the middle of Bowness we should give this a try. We do have friends who are already experienced airbnb hosts and they recommended that we give this a go. It is a 7 minute walk to the lake, brilliant restaurants, bars and shops. Unbelievable scenery is on our doorstep. The locals are friendly and will offer advice on the best walks and things to see and do. The home of Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth are within a bus ride and we can collect you from the station depending on your arrival time. Excellent off road parking is also available at our home.
We love where we are and what we have and we want you to share it with us. Please read our reviews, we have had some great people to stay and we would love you to be one of them.
