Dave was very friendly and very helpful, to two girls that weren't sure what steps to take to have the most fun and quality experience. He was a god send for us. He booked our car, got us permits, gave us all the equipment we would need, made us a map, invited us on adventures and was just an overall nice guy. Without him, things would have been much more difficult for us, but we were able to enjoy Kauai stress free. He was even available to meet up and exchange gear we weren't using for things we thought we could use instead whenever we needed. I can confidently tell you to book with Dave, you won't be disappointed. THANKS DAVE!
Everything worked out better than we even expected! we decided to go super last minute, Dave got us everything we needed for the trip and at an amazing price, at least 3times cheaper than any other places (a lot don't even rent what he has so only other option would of been buying it or bringing it on the plane, which is no fun either. Dave is very thoughtful, knowledgable and helpful person to deal with- recommends what is needed, when to go, whats the best set up, offers lots of options and variations on the gear needed. Overall it was an amazing deal & amazing trip! highly recommend!
This dude really hooked it up well, even gave us a custom handwritten map. If your on Kauai, you really need to rent a car, especially for missions like going to pick up camping gear etc. There are no cheap taxi's or UberX yet (hopefully soon). This dude had all the gear though and was really thorough.
My arrival was less than ideal. Chris couldn't find my reservation and, clearly, wasn't expecting me on the agreed upon time/day.
Once everything was cleared up, Chris was welcoming and quite knowledgable about the island and the Kalalau campground.
The gear was pretty good, but the rain made the camping a little difficult. The waterproof tent (that we paid an extra $15 dollars for) was only 80% waterproof in two nights of rain, and had a small tear. Invest in the heavy waterproof tent AND get a tarp to put above your tent. The big items (backpack, tent, stove, sleeping bags and pads, and headlamps) were pretty good, but you'll need to have items like cups, plates, and utensils - he gave us red solo cups... :) but overall the gear was good enough and we wouldn't have been able to do an overnight on the trail without the rented gear. We used the iodine tablets instead of the life straws- we just found the iodine easier and have used them before. Great responsiveness and we would definitely recommend it!

The best location to Camp on Kauai!. From the beginning of the trail to the beach is approx 13 miles and will take the average hiker 8 hours. It is recommended to stay a minimum of 3 night or longer.HI 96746
Second best location on Kauai. This is very much forest camping, with lots of hiking adventures and things to do. If you do not think you have the ability to hike to Kalalau then this is the place.Hawaii
