The space

Our house is located in the historic Bywater District, on a tree lined street, next to the levee. The neighborhood is vibrant, steeped in culture, with an eclectic bunch of friendly people and interesting sites and businesses. The house comes fully furnished with beautiful antiques, an equipped kitchen ready for cooking, dining room that can seat a full dinner party & instruments to play (including a pump organ!!).
This house is not a shotgun! It’s a darling little house with beautiful wood working, deco era trims, built-ins and tilework. The only house around with an enclosed garage. Your room will be private (with a door that locks), a closet to put your things, and a queen sized 4-post bed. There are wild chickens, green spaces and parks abounding. Not to mention a huge back yard with oak trees and a swing. Very very quiet at night, good light during the day.
Our friends opened up an amazing coffee shop across the street doing delicious fair trade pour overs. Also, some of the cities most prominent art galleries are less than a block away, with the St. Claude art walk on the second saturday of each month.
There is the reliable St. Claude bus that takes you from our corner straight into the French Quarter, CBD or uptown. The Quarter is just 2 miles away, it's an easy/gorgeous walk thru the Bywater and Marigny or a short bike ride. The Levee is also nice for walking the dogs at sunset and boat watching. The house has off street parking in our driveway (with lots more around). When we are in town we can potentially arrange a ride for you to and from the airport otherwise taxi service is always available or shuttle service to the hotels plop you right at the good ol bus to our place.
We have an easy access set-up, with a lock box at the door so guests may come and go as they please. We are easily reachable and have lots of friends who are nearby should something need immediate attention and we are unavailable.
Friendly well behaved pets are always welcome.

Guest access

Full access to the kitchen, bathtub, yard and laundry. Bikes you assume full responsibility for leaving in the state borrowed! Luckily theres a friendly bike shop down the street if ya get a flat! =)

Interaction with guests

We are here as much as you want us to be. We can point you in the direction of fun art events, nature, adventures and music shows etc.. We can also butt out and give you your quiet private space. We've been doing this a while now and feel that guests indicate pretty quickly if they want to interact or not and we happily accommodate either way.

The neighborhood

Our neighborhood is a calm southern breath of fresh air. Great food, friends, greenery and wildlife. Such good walks, friendly characters, easy access to the best bars, gallery's and eats around. Far enough from the quarter to take a breather when you need it but close enough to be there in a hop, skip and jump to have fun.

Getting around

We prefer to bike around our hood and New Orleans in general but there is super easy, reliable public transit 2 blocks away in either direction to take you to the quarter, city park or even uptown to the colleges and zoo.

Other things to note

We are very easy going and plugged in here. So if you need fun things to do, don't hesitate to ask!
