Fürfurt in Hesse is a tiny village of 150 souls at the banks of the Romantic Lahn River Valley, some 80 km before it joins the Rhine River. Only within this "Romantic" section the river has been allowed to flow in its natural bed. The result is a unique eco system. Per boat, on foot, by bike you follow miles of picturesque alluvial meadows, dark river forests or steep an narrow rocks. This county also belongs to the most densly forested areas in Germany and is one of the many beautiful holiday areas in the country.
We are living inside a geopark with a World Nature heritage, a stalactite and another cristal cave. We are surrounded by pretty and small medieval towns with quaint houses, castles, palaces, great cathedrals.
it is the diversity that makes the place so unique: If you want you can easily spend days in the "Hesse outback" , equally you have quick access to urban live, like Frankfurt city and airport.

WHAT TO DO AND SEE:

Slow down hiking the Lahn trail - recently awarded as one of the most beautiful trails in Germany -, or any of the many networks of trails through natural landscapes and beech forests.
Go for a boat trip by canoe on the river in Fürfurt,
Cycle the also awarded Lahn Valley and other biking trails right outside your front door.
Follow the river bed smoothly by taking good, old Lahntalbahn train up to Father Rhine, with magnificent views. Being exhausted of hiking, biking, canoeing, sightseeing, the little train will always take you back to Fürfurt village.
Float a hot air balloon over palaces and castles! Explore the treasure chests of regional natural and cultural landscapes.
Within the Geopark we are living see inter alia, an amazing World Nature Heritage Site from the Devon, a beautiful crystal or a stalactite cave.
Dive down to our regional history in museums and along archaeological sites of the Celts and Romans, or
admire the romantic streets and historic houses of pretty medieval half-timbered towns like Weilburg, Braunfels, Villmar, Runkel, Limburg, Diez , Camberg and Idstein.
See Frankfurt city with its famous museums. And if still in the mood for cabaret and music you will be amazed by the quality and abundance of events and the high standarts of arts in the county.
