Beautiful traditional apartment in the historical centre of Umbria's foremost 'città d'arte', a few hundred metres from the Cathedral. Ideal for a couple as a base for travel in and around Etruscan sites, Franciscan shrines, Renaissance masterpieces and Umbria's renown vinyards and restaurants.
Traditionally-furnished apartment on first floor with large living room, eat-in kitchen, 1 double bedroom plus 1 single bedroom, 2 bathrooms, balcony with table and chairs overlooking courtyard garden.
Full and exclusive use of the apartment. There is no elevator, however only one flight of stairs is required to enter the apartment.
Interaction with Guests
Neighbour and caretaker will check you in and out, and look after guests as much as they wish. Do you need a sauce for tonight's pasta? Ask Sestilia and she will organise it for you at a minimal cost.
Very central location in the extraordinarily well-preserved historic hilltown of Orvieto founded by the Etruscans in the ninth century BC and used as a Papal retreat during the Middle Ages and early Renaissance. The apartment in via Luca Signorelli is a stone's throw from Italy's most spectacular medieval cathedral.
Orvieto is a real town perched on top of a cliff overlooking the Tiber valley. Most everything is around the corner--fresh pasta, wonderful butcher, bakery, cafès, bookstore and nice shops, theatre, post office--not to mention the ceramics and traditional linens of the region. The cable car to the train station below is about a 20-minute walk.
Other Things to Note
The bedrooms are comfortable and quiet, and face onto an interior garden. Although there is no air-conditioning, the apartment is insulated with thick walls and cross ventilation, so that the temperature is pleasant even in the middle of summer.
This is a home. Treat it and its contents as your own. Avoid smoking inside the apartment. Respect the neighbours by avoiding loud noises and inappropriate behaviour when you enter or go out of the building. Although a cleaning service will be provided at the end of your stay, do your best to leave the place as you find it.
Great communication throughout the booking process, the apartment was delightful and exactly as described and in a fantastic location
We had a wonderful time in this apartment in Orvieto. I would love to stay there again. It has a lot of room, it is very clean and it feels like you are a guest in someone's home. I cannot say enough good about it. Meeting Ann was a real plus. I highly recommend this apartment.
Ann's apartment is fabulous! Excellent location in the heart of Orvieto. Spacious, comfortable, with a large garden deck and oh the kitchen! We made a beautiful meal on our final night with fresh pasta from the pasta maker across the street! A perfect Orvieto get away!

Staying in this lovely and lovingly furnished apartment was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy so far. Actually so was meeting up with Ann and her husband Francesco in Rome! Orvieto is a stunning 'must-visit' hilltop town. So much to explore for a little town. This was the perfect base from which to have our adventures. It is a large apartment. It is a true and graceful Italian home, decorated in a wonderful style. No Ikea here! As a cook, I treasured every moment in the kitchen with its mix of old and new. A great gas cook top with an old stove (no longer used) on the other side of the kitchen. Old time pots and pans on display, but gleaming new ones to actually use. The patio overlooking a garden was the setting for leisurely mornings, and for a glass of wine at the end of the day. There is a big king sized bed. Two bedrooms actually. And a BATHTUB. We were utterly charmed.
Vielen Dank!
Staying in Ann's apartment was an absolutely fantastic experience. We lived not only in a really big, comfortable and beautifully designed flat but in the family "castello" with it's great history, reach archive of old books and newspapers and the strong spirit of Old Italy. People who lived here for generations made this place so warm, beautifull and unforgettable. You can feel it in every corner. Orvieto is charming medieval town and the apartment is right in the center of it - near the main street and two steps from the cathedral wich is one of the most stunning buildings in the world. The flat is so good even for a big family - two bedrooms, two bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen and of course our favourite place in Orvieto - the big balcony with garden view - a little peacefull paradise for relaxing, having breakfast or dinner or just sitting and enjoying the beauty power of the house and the town.
Ann's apartment is a fantastic oasis in Orvieto. It is filled with antiques and family mementos and books, and has a lovely balcony overlooking a garden. Even in the height of the season when Orvieto is filled with other tourists, this apartment is quiet and serene. If you like waking up to the scent of baked foccacia from the bakery below, and feeling like you have your own secret hideout, this place is for you. After just a few days, we were friendly with many people in the neighborhood. The sheets and linens are extremely clean, the kitchen is perfectly functional, the 2 bathrooms are clean, good hot water, good water pressure. I would stay here again most definitely.
