The host Peter provided excellent service by personally welcoming us even though we arrived very late at night. The hotel was located in a good and convenient neighbourhood and the description is generally accurate.
I booked a room last-minute at the Hanoi Hibiscus. When I called to double check that there was availability, no one picked up the line.
This worried me, but it had happened to me before in VN.
When I arrived at the space, Peter was very accommodating.
They actually didn't have availability at the space, but they upgraded me to a bigger room at a hotel that they manage across the street. The space was fine. It lacked hand soap, which I thought was a bit odd.
It was what I needed, though. A nice, big relaxing room before I embarked to the South once again.
We stayed in hibiscus hotel for 3 nights. Even though the rooms don't look like as on the photos on airbnb the stay was very pleasant. The rooms are clean and well equipped. Besides this the location is great and everything reachable in walking distance. This is why we wanted to book a room for another two nights at the end of our trip.
This is were the trouble started. The host, Peter, advised us to book via email so that we get the same deal for the room as before. And so we did. The night we arrived Peter was very stumped to see us and clearly didn't expect us. He had the idea we arrive the day after although I confirmed the same day that we will arrive very late tonight. So at midnight we learnt that there is no room available and since we didn't want to look for another accommodation we agreed to the offer of Peter to stay in another hotel near by.
This night was very atrocious . The hotel was very dirty and we were very happy to have those handy silk sleeping bags to sleep into. The next morning we argued with Peter about not informing us about the not available room in his hotel. He tried to make up for it and offered us a free taxi drive to the airport. Nevertheless better book the rooms at hibiscus over a decent website and don't count on any arrangements made via email or such.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hibiscus Hotel! Nice, clean rooms. The owner is super friendly and he was even kind enough to let us check-in super early when we arrived.
We really enjoyed staying here. The location is great for exploring Hanoi's old quarter. There is plenty of food + shops in the block around the hotel. The room was spacious + clean especially the bathroom! Breakfast was great as well. All the staff were nice, especially Peter who helped us organise our trip to halong bay + Hue.
We had a great time in hanoi. The service in the hotel is quite good. The room was good, but not so nice as on the pictures.
