Situated on a beautiful hillside overlooking the heart of the valley and surrounded by ancient oak trees, vineyards and a historic barn, this rental is only 2 miles and less than five minutes in either direction from the award-winning wineries and restaurants of Glen Ellen and Kenwood and only 8 miles from the plaza in downtown Sonoma. This is a historic ranch property. It is not luxurious and it does not have a spa. It is very clean and has a special charm. It is a very unique building in an absolutely gorgeous location! It has a wood stove, space heater and fans, but no central heat or A/C. If the weather is cool we will build the fire before you arrive and provide firewood for the duration of your stay. Property comes with down comforters & pillows, crisp linens and plush towels. Guests are greeted with a half bottle of wine and kitchen includes coffee and basic utensils. There is also a small television with DVD Player in the bedroom with some wine country favorites (Sideways, Bottle Shock).

Steven and Lauren were quick, helpful and responsive.
The home was clean, beautiful and cosy. THANK YOU!
What a little gem of a place! My mom and I had a lovely time staying at Lauren & Steven's for 3 nights — the property itself is gorgeous, quiet, and in the perfect location between getting into Sonoma and over the hills to Calistoga, St. Helena & Yountville (which that drive is well worth the view!). It was pretty warm when we were there, but the fans provided in the bedroom kept it nice and cool. We loved sitting outside, sipping wine, and reading and just soaking in the surroundings. I highly recommend this (email hidden) to say if you visit the area.
When we arrived, there was soap missing in the bathroom & kitchen area — I sent Lauren a quick message and within 3 minutes she was at the doorstep with the needed items & a bottle of wine! Talk about above and beyond. They were great hosts and readily available if/when we needed them. We'll definitely be coming back!
Our experience with the place and the host was as expected, and we had BIG expectations. Lauren was wonderful, responsive, helpful, etc... and the place was just what we were hoping. We have already recommended the place to our friends. A great setting, close to everything we wanted to see / do, etc.... Go there you won't regret it!
Delightful, delightful, delightful. Bucolic setting, absolutely classic California experience of oak studded grounds with vineyard and mountain views. Ideally situated near all the stuff yet quietly tucked up away from it. The tower is a quirky, charming, and comfortable landing spot with both good public and private areas inside and al fresco. My husband is a writer and had wonderful writing areas and I was able to enjoy my own spaces as well. When we encountered a significant issue, Lauren resolved it quickly and graciously. I highly recommend the Watertower for those seeking peace, beauty, and something above the ho hum every day experience.
Romantic getaway, perfect location, dreamy location. Thanks for the memorable stay!
WOW!! What an amazing property. This place was the highlight of my trip. The property is absolutely incredible. There are clydesdale horses that you can pet (I pet them for a good hour, the horses are gentle even though they are huge), a vineyard, a beautiful garden and I even pet the cows for a little bit. The property could be a scene out of a movie. Lauren was extremely helpful and told us about some great local restaurants.
If you get the chance, I don't know the name of the road but if you go North out of Napa up Silverado Trail and then put the address for the water tower into (website hidden) maps, GPS will take you on a beautiful small road that you can take to get to the property. It is very high up with amazing views and it feels almost like a dream with the large trees and forest along the road and the sun shining in only on certain spots since it is more of a canopy road. There were no cars on the road so I think it is the secret local spot. It is very curvy though so if you get car sick might not be a good idea.
The only downside is my mom thought the bed was a bit lumpy but I thought it was fine. The shower had good water pressure, which I thought it wouldn't have since it is a very old building. Lauren said it was all built in 1936 I believe. When you arrive you feel like you are taken back in time. I would suggest brining some coffee grounds, milk and wine and spend the evening and morning there drinking wine and coffee. It is the perfect spot for it. There is sugar (email hidden) on the property. Thanks Lauren, hopefully I will see you again soon!
The Watertower is gorgeous! We loved staying here - it's right in amongst the wineries so it's perfectly located for a few days of wine tasting and touring. And the ranch itself is lovely - we took a walk round the vineyards at sunset which was beautiful and the views from the balcony are stunning. Lauren and Steve were great hosts - even inviting us to a night being held for wine club members in front of the b&b. It was a really highlight of our tour of California and we're already planning a return visit.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the water tower. Hosts were immediately responsive to my question and great tips for enjoying the surrounding areas were provided on a sheet tacked to the fridge :). Particular enjoyed the plants and flowers in the surrounding areas (beautiful passion vine that attracted several hummingbirds while we were enjoying breakfast on the little patio area). Would recommend staying here and will be returning.
Lovely house, we would differently recommend it.
Fantastic. I would recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful wine getaway.
