A room in a bright and unique attic apartment in heart of Helsinki. Excellent transport connections, easy walk to sea, parks, bars, markets and restaurants. Breakfast included. Thursday evening sauna! Bicycles available. Welcome!

The Space

A private room is available in a bright and unique attic apartment in Helsinki center at Kamppi. The room has simple furniture and a large openable skylight with a view to the skies. Depending on the season and the weather, go to sleep looking at the stars (sometimes the moon), drifting clouds, floating snow flakes, rain, UFOs, etc.

The 2-bedroom apartment is shared with a travel-loving international couple who are slowly discovering the world too. We've travelled to over 70 countries and we have ourselves stayed with friendly people all around the world in rarely visited places. We'd like to extend our hospitality to friendly travellers passing through our city - Helsinki.

Being on the top floor, our place is usually quiet and peaceful. Our attic is modern, but we live in a building that is almost 90 years old. The original wood-panelled elevator (from 1920s) is well-maintained and still functioning at its gentle pace.

Guest Access

We'll provide fresh towels and bed sheets. We have most things you'd expect to find in a home (such as a hairdryer, iron, microwave, toaster...), so please do ask if you need something. We also have a collection of guidebooks about Finland and Helsinki, as well as a small collection of board games that you can borrow. You are welcome to use the kitchen if you prefer cooking at home, and the washing machine is available. The bathroom is shared.

On Thursday evenings, you can also visit the traditional Finnish sauna in our building! If you enjoy cycling, we can discuss renting our bicycles too.

Interaction with Guests

Since you'd be living with us, we'll be happy to offer you simple Finnish breakfast in the morning if we are around (if we are out, please help yourselves). We have a small collection of teas and coffees from around the world that you could try. If you prefer experiencing what Helsinki has to offer, some of the best breakfast/brunch cafes are very close to our home, and we can suggest the ones we often visit. The nearby market square (just down our road) has a market hall with local produce and breakfast stalls outside (during summer).

The Neighborhood

There are excellent public transportation connections to all of Helsinki region and beyond (especially to Espoo), and all facilities are within walking distance. The tram and buses stop just outside our building. The harbours for ferries to Stockholm and Tallinn are all within 2km distance. There is even a direct tram to the Tallinn ferry terminal. We are located only a couple of blocks away from the Helsinki design district, with lots of museums, shops, parks, cafes, boutiques and restaurants all around. Popular beaches and seaside promenades are about a 10 minute walk away.

  • Larisa and Apaar have a wonderful attic in a very convenient part of the city. I walked to practically everywhere from their home. The room is big, clean and has a distinctive Scandi feeling. Notice that the bed is a futon and if you are not used to it, like me, it feels weird at first. They are very experienced hosts and they help you with anything they can. A lovely flat for your stay in Helsinki.

  • I stayed in Apaar& Larisa's house during four days.
It was the third time to book in Airbnb. Especially This house was really awesome experience to stay! I really recommend if someone travel Helsinki in alone or in the first time! I did't see Apaar but Larisa is really good host to explain Finland and recommend traveling hot spot. And I tried to eat Finland traditional food, she recommend the restaurant which located in near the house. If someone go to Larisa's house, you could try to eat it!
I remembered special coffee that made by Larisa! It was so recommended!! Every morning she gave me the chance to choose different types of coffee. This was the good memory to me. :D
If i will go to Helsinki again, i also want to go this house. Thank u so much Larisa!!

  • Perfect stay! All correspondence via Apaar beforehand and cosy chats and kind hospitality with Larisa during my stay (Apaar was travelling). Had a great long weekend in Helsinki and the flat is in a perfect location to explore the main sights. Flat is very cosy and breakfast was included (a very nice surprise). And I am armed with info for my next trip to Africa on safari - thanks Larisa.

  • If I would be asked to stay again in this apartment or in the best hotel in town for the same money I would choose Apaar and Larisa's place.
I felt to be very welcome in this place. Everything was totally uncomplicated. I could choose if I want privacy or a conversation and whenever I needed help or advices for places to eat or interesting things to do in Helsinki I received their support which is much appreciated. They are both very nice and I enjoyed chatting with them even though I stayed just for a short time. Last but not least they made super delicious breakfast every morning.

Thank you guys. I hope to see you again.

  • Great hosts, both Apaar Larissa are very sweet and helpful. On the weekend they even prepared a great breakfast meal. Room was as described, very clean, in a safe-walkable neighborhood. I day tripped to Porvoo, Finland and Tallinn, Estonia and was able to get to the bus and Ferry terminal by walking there. The hosts are well travelled and provide great advice/stories about other destinations as well. Definitely recommend their flat and staying with them.

  • We had a fantastic time in Helsinki. Larisa and Apaar were very helpful and friendly. We couldn't have has a better stay. Because it was a long weekend we were even able to have breakfast together. Apaar helped us to find the best bicylce tours to do in and around town and to find the right busses and trams. The room was very nice and clean with some international books and travel guides to read. We would come back any time! Thanks!
