Myke offered a relaxed hospitality and support that was much appreciated. He helped me plan my way through an evening of events that I wanted to schedule so that it was easy and supported. He made adjustments to match my scheduling needs and was very understanding about them. He showed genuine concern for my wellbeing during my stay. True hospitality! I will book there again when I'm in Winnipeg.
Myke's house is very colourful and full of art and texture. We didn't get to spend a lot of time with Myke as we had differing routines, but we did see a lot of the cats, who are very friendly from the moment you set foot in the door! The space is cool, and the bed is very comfortable to sleep on but there is a lot of cat fur. The bathroom is one of the best spaces of the house, with a lovely shower and a stand alone tub. Like some other reviewers have said - the neighbourhood seems pretty rough until you get to the main part of downtown. We found a cool underground cafe for lunch and explored the city on foot during the day and stayed in for the evenings.
His house is very colorful , a lot of decorations, ornaments and crafts, is filled with Indian elements. In addition there is a grocery store nearby, convenient for guests need their own cooking, It is 20 minutes walk to the city center, you can take the bus to the airport, the unique geographical location. very nice for staying there and played with three cats.
Myke was welcoming and distant in a good way. He responded to requests but did not impose. For example, I asked for an additional blanket, and Myke obliged. The house is very convenient to a number of bus routes that would take you wherever you needed to go. The buses run quite frequently by the stops nearest the house. Staying with Myke gives one a feel of the local. You will not be stuck in the more sterile tourist parts of Winnipeg. Each time you walk in the house, you will notice something new in the furnishings and decor.
Myke was very friendly with us and both made an effort to give us space to so our thing and rest, but also made a point to suggest places to go during our brief overnighter in Winnipeg. The place is something else! Eclectic artsy decor, personally not my taste in the end, but I'm sure many would love it. He has a cat who sheds and the space was not very clean both the bedroom and bathroom. Other than that it was an interesting space near the city centre.
Myke was great to stay with. He was flexible and communication was good. His place was artsy and quaint. We had an entertaining conversation and it was a good experience. Do hassle him for not having a recycling bin.
Myke made us feel very welcome and gave us tips on where to go/eat/explore. His cats are very sweet and friendly. The surrounding neighborhood is a little rough, fine during the day but we didn't walk around after 9pm. The house itself is a mix of new and old, with a lot of cool furnishings. It wasn't the cleanest house I've ever been in, but that may be a preference thing as it didn't bother my friend. Overall we had a good experience with Myke and enjoyed chatting with him.
