In a rustic setting where you can rediscover the atmosphere of the old country houses, Casale l'Alba is a very characteristic stone farmhouse, one of the few that still keeps the original features, retaining the old charm.

It is located in the green hills of Umbria, in a wild and untouched landscape on the border with Lazio and Tuscany.

We are only 10 minutes walking from "La Scarzuola"!!!! (see below)

The space
IL CIPRESSO

In the farmhouse there are two apartments for rent. The apartment “il Cipresso” (70 m2) has two bedrooms with double beds (possibility to put two or three single beds in one room), kitchen and bathroom with shower at the ground floor and living room with fireplace and double sofabed at the top floor. Single beds and baby cots are available on request.
Each apartment has privete and equipped garden for eating outside.

(see also IL SAMBUCO apartment)

Please note that this is a country house and therefore does not have the peculiarities of a luxury residence or a hotel.

The origins of the house date back to the XI-XII century, this means that when San Francesco d'Assisi came here on a pilgrimage, stopping at the place where La Scarzuola was founded, he probably found this house along his way!!

Where you’ll be

Montegiove, Umbria, Italy

The house is located 150 km from Rome and Florence, 3 km from the medieval village of Montegiove (Castle 1200), about 10 km (15/20 minuti) from Montegabbione and Fabro Scalo (A1 highway, railway station, supermarkets, banks, post office, restaurants, sport centers, tennis courts, gas station, etc.).

It is strategically located for those willing to comfortably visit the majority of the most important Central Italian art cities and sites, especially of Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio. About 30 km from Città della Pieve, Chiusi, S.Casciano's thermal baths; 40 km from Orvieto, Perugia, Trasimeno Lake (beaches, water sports, ferries to islands); 50 km from Todi, Assisi, Montepulciano, Civita di Bagnoregio, Bolsena Lake; 80 km from Siena and Viterbo; 100 km from Tyrrhenian Sea and from the amazing “Marmore Falls” (the highest in Europe) where it's possible to go rafting.

This area is also particularly recommended for nice and interesting walks, as many naturalistic paths and historical/cultural sites are reacheble from the house. In just a few minutes walk (less than 1km) you can visit "La Scarzuola", a Franciscan monastery founded in 1218, next to which the architect Tommaso Buzzi has built a surreal and fascinating architectural complex "the Ideal City". At 3 kms, close to the small “borgo” Castel di Fiori, there is an important ahrcheological site with antient tombs and the ruin of the primitive fortification, “il Castelliere”, and amazing natural pools and waterfalls. Close to the medioeval hamlet of Parrano (5 kms) there is a spectacular gorge (where is possible to perform torrentism) with natural caves and thermal pool.

Hello from our family!!!! We are Barbara (from Rome), Aldo (from Buenos Aires), and our two young children.
After travelling all over the world, we met and we finally found our piece of paradise in the green hills of Umbria in 1999. We live a simple country life, but we also like to travel and discover new places around.
We will be honored if you will spend your holidays in our country house and enjoy what our beautiful region has to offer!!!!
